Y'all act like there were options. If Goff weren't our QB, who would be trotting out there? He was and is our best option.
I get it. I was responding to @MachS who was saying benching a $30m QB has never been done. Sometimes doing the thing that's never been done is necessary. If we weren't in a playoff position I don't think you'd find many objecting to Goff's benching after what we've seen this season.

Been thinking about solutions with his contract - I'm guessing Snead and McVay will be discussing it at least. I don't know the cap ramifications, but off the top of my head the only thing I can see is the Eagles and Rams swap disappointing QBs since the money matches.

I don't really want Wentz, but I don't want to see this next year either

Sorry, this was nothing like the Steelers game. That game was lost by a few horrible calls by the refs, no doubt in my mind. Although Goff didn't play great, he was about average for Goff.

This game? All Goff's fault. Repeat that 70000 times to yourself. I'm sure he'll tell you that too from the podium. AGAIN.

Goff had three fumbles and 2 picks in that Steeler game. That was when he lost me.

Even with the officiating the Rams D kept the team in it for four quarters. That Steeler defense was tough, but they weren't elite. All we needed was one TD from our offense, and Goff couldn't provide it.

That's what today felt like to me.

You always did love Wolford!

Wolford would be worse than Goff; I know that much. Howell is my quarterback crush, and I hope we trade up to get him and trade Goff to the Vikings or some other team that will tolerate his shit decision making.

I wonder how close McVay is to benching and/or moving on from Goff.

McVay does not put up with poor performers.

Wentz is even worse with the turnovers. No thanks

I know this is a knee-jerk reaction, but I want to draft Sam Howell next year. I don't care how much Goff is paid; if he continues to make stupid decisions (that interception to Sherman was nowhere near a Rams player, and the fucking fumble instead of FUCKING SLIDING LIKE ANY OTHER QUARTERBACK pissed me off as well.), I'm done with him. He's squandering a great defense and an offense that he's failed at running.

Have at me. En garde.

This is where I'm at, and there are legit QB prospects this year. But can we bench Goff for a rookie QB when Goff is making $35M next year? We would get laughed out of the NFL if that happened. Both McVay and Snead's decision making would be questioned to crazy levels by national media. Not sure they want to take that heat, but it would be the right thing to do.

Says alot about our coach eh?

that makes no sense lol.... the 49ners wanted the clock to run so that we would have no time left to get the ball.

In the end it didn't matter though because they got two more first downs - either way they would have had control of the clock.

You can't bench a QB when you're contending and have nobody behind him. Goff is our guy. We just have to hope McVay lights a fire under his ass. He can't play like this. If he's going to play like shit, he at least needs to protect the ball.

.

Every time Samuel caught the ball I'd think how did he get loose from Ramsey. Then I'd see it was Williams covering him. And then I'd think why is he the one covering him.

This is the cap situation. We cannot cut him before the end of 2022 without destroying our cap. After 2022 we can opt out of his contract for only a $8M hit. Am I reading this correctly @flv , there's no realistic way to get out sooner right?

I would bet a lot of money that we draft a QB on day 2. A lot.

Given that Howell will likely go in the first round (we're obviously not getting the top quarterbacks in this draft) in 2022, we won't have to bench Goff; he'll likely be traded in 2022. Howell is my guy for the reasons I stated in the Notre Dame thread. He outplayed Trevor Lawrence in 2019; it was his defense and coach that screwed up what could've been a victory. He threw 38 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He's not a huge quarterback, but 6'1" isn't too bad, and he's more mobile than Goff.

Couldn't fathom why Ramsey wasn't on Deebo. I assumed he was already on him like you. I ove Williams but he has not business playing against a WR like Deebo.
