If it's Bowers, then does that make the Parkinson acquisition redundant? Or do we really believe that McVay is going to shift from 11 personnel to 12? And what about Davis Allen?
Those are your three TEs right there.

Can't see Denver or Raiders picking Nix or Penix without a trade down past us and even then, that's really really rich for both those guys.

I do see a scramble for teams to maybe trade up back into first or top of 2nd for one of them. The other drops.
Let me guess, because Benjamin Albright didn’t tell you that this would happen?

6 QB’s first 12 picks.

How about you don’t listen to Me now and now, not Albright. I’ll tell you what to think.

Just my feelings but look at the original sources for most if not all these rumors. The are at the least friendly if not friends with those sources with relationships and connections in the past. Why wouldn't you do something by spreading disinformation for your friend that has helped you in your career?

Imagine being in either one of their shoes and what you would do?

I feel our target truly is Latu, Turner or Verse and we are drumming up what we can to have one of them fall to us. or fall enough for a trade up with a partner a relationship has already been soft established.

Gotta say, I just don't see this issue of guys falling being a thing. Turner to ATL is strong. (there's a chance they go Murphy). But if they go Turner, I see where Murphy, Arnold, and Mitchell go off the board but having really hard time seeing where Latu or Verse go before us.

Where are these guys getting picked exactly and by whom before us??

BTW, I could see us trying to leapfrog Cinn for Murphy. Think he's a great fit for them.

It’s Bowers. I’m calling it.

We’ve had our asses kicked by Kittle for long enough to not have our own weapon…

I think he’s a better prospect than La Porta by a bunch. He’s hard to bring down like a slimmer version of Gronk with the speed of Kittle with better hands.

You BET McVay is in love with him… and without Higbeast… we need a stud at that position and he’s it…

That’s my call. The only question is if he goes earlier than expected cuz JJ McCarthy drops

But yeah… that’s my call. If we can’t find a partner to trade up and we lose out on Bowers, I think we trade out of the 1st entirely…

Welp… if the teams above us had cooperated, I’d be right, but I love our draft and the combo of Verse and Fiske will be overall much better for us in the long term

Thank God they didn't. There's no way I would have felt this good if they traded up for bowers. I would have felt the same way as when they traded up for tavon. Sure I got over it and was excited to have the little guy on the team but it didn't feel right at the time.

Agreed. Been saying all offseason I preferred a defensive draft. I could get behind a trade up for a stud like Bowers. But I think in the long run the Rams may have benefitted from things falling the way they did.

So hind sight being 20/20 would the Rams have been better with Bowers & 2025.R2 pick - or - with Verse & Fiske? Time will tell but for this year I’d stay with Verse & Fiske.

Bowers went before 19, so what would the Rams have needed to give-up to move up?

Are you suggesting #19 and #52 would have been enough?

Yeah, they may have still tried to move that same 25' pick in order to maximize the roster this yr & next yr for Stafford... Reality is a late 2nd rounder in 25' probably has less impact in 25' than a 24' 3rd with a year under his belt.

On the Rich Hill trade chart which is recognized as the most accurate over the last nine years, going from 19 to 13 is only a difference of 51 points. So, the Rams first and third were enough in points.

So consider that the Raiders may have felt that there was too significant of a drop off in talent at 19 to move back for a third, they likely wanted the Rams second round pick instead. Which in points, is an overpay. The Raiders would likely have to kick in more picks.

Then from the Rams standpoint, they likely didn’t want to part with their second rounder because they obviously wanted what they felt was a top defensive player. They likely floated next years second which would be the right value.

I think if the Raiders realistically considered their situation, they would have taken next years second if it was offered. Who will throw the ball to Bowers? Next years second would be ammunition to trade up.

Poor McVay will never get the shiny TE toy he’s been craving

The team that should have been willing to trade back is Denver. They could have had Nix at 19 from the sound of it.

Oh I agree. LOVING the Verse Fiske pairing!

I was just saying that their initial target prior to the draft was Bowers and it was… and in a REALLY rare turn of events, we didn’t get a meaningful trade until the Vikes traded up to 17.

We talk about overpaying… this forum woulda lost it’s collective shit over what we’d have paid to trade up for Bowers.

I’m thrilled with how it turned out and the think we’re a better team than had the trade happened even as I acknowledge that Bowers is a beast of the first order

According to the value chart Denver would have gotten the better deal but that should have been more than enough.

Or a 2024 4th because I think that’s the true value. 2024 2nd = 2025 1st in the real world of these two drafts.
