50/50 is possible for Shohei. He averaged a home run and steal every 3.2 games. With 31 games left he just needs to keep up a similar pace. Its doable.

Worst division?? Not even close.

NL West probably going to get 3 teams in the playoffs.

Gotta love that east coast bias.....
I'll eat Crow on 3 NL west teams making playoffs

Diamondbacks and Padres are two of the hottest teams in the NL. Not too long ago both were hovering around .500. Now the D-Backs are 19 games over and the Padres are 17 games over. Dodgers are in a battle for that division now. I think all 3 will make the playoffs.

Big win last night. Take two of the next three and they put some distance between them and the DBacks. The bullpen did everything they could to give it away. They needed all ten runs. But a win is a win. Shohei's at 43/43 now. 50/50 is still doable.

Dodgers win the first two. Sure put the brakes on the AZ charge. Still two more with them. Hopefully Yamamoto returns in time to get a few games under his belt. Glasnow's been out too. They will need them both at full strength if they want a deep playoff run. Kershaw's back on the DL. Buehler still hasn't found his form. Miller's up and down. More down than up. Stone is ok but I wouldn't count him as an ace. They're gonna need a strong bullpen and some offense if they want to make a run at the World Series.

I always wonder why Kershaw sometimes had really good games and then had trouble getting out of the first inning in other games the last couple of years.

Now we know - Kershaw has been dealing with bone spurs in his big toe the last couple years and I bet it acts up on the days that he pitches really poor. And you know Kershaw is not going to give that as an excuse.

However, I wonder why he hasn't had it treated. Is it something that can't be removed and will have it for the rest of his life.

Ohtani's on the verge of baseball's first 50/50 season with HR's and steals. He needs 3 homeruns and 2 steals in the last 16 games. He's averaging a HR and steal just about every 3 games. With 16 games left he's well within range.

Dodgers are up 5 games on AZ and 5.5 on SD. They have the tiebreaker over AZ. So if they go 8-8 the rest of the way AZ would have to go 14-2. Not much room for error with AZ.

Padres have 15 games left. They would have to go 13-2 to tie the Dodgers if the LA goes 8-8. If LA goes 10-6 both the Padres and D-Backs would have win out. I'd say the Dodgers are good shape to win the division. Assuming they do no worse than 8-8.

Flaherty and probably Yamamoto and ......?????

It's going to be really hard for the Dodger to go far in the playoffs with 2 starting pitchers and a bunch of relievers.

Well, Ohtani reached 50/50 sooner than I expected. 2 HR's and 2 SB's today for 50/51. Not very common for a big homerun hitter to steal a lot of bases.

Oh, and Dodgers are up 14-3.

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. Pitching wins playoff games. But their lineup is healthy now. They can put up runs. I wonder if Knack will be the #3 guy? He's not terrible. Losing Stone hurt. He was pitching pretty good.

Looks like Glasnow's done too. Kershaw's nowhere near an ace anymore. And we don't know if he'll pitch anyway. To me it looks like its Flaherty, Yamamoto, Buehler and maybe Knack or Wrobleski. I'm guessing the bullpen will be pitching a lot of innings. Hope there isn't a long extra innings game.

Dodgers and Padres each have 9 games remaining. Dodgers have a 4 game lead. If they go 5-4 the next 9 games the Padres would have to win out to tie them. So I suppose the magic number is 6. Win 6 more and the Padres can't catch them.

Congrats Ohtani! What a way to get it done. 6 for 6, 3 HRs, 10 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. I realize the pitching wasn't the greatest but regardless, that's a hell of a game.

For the Dodger to be tied with the best record in baseball this year is amazing.
With all the injuries and pitching woes we’ve had, the players just keep battling.

What a team!
