I agree, looks like 2023 is going to be tough to watch so far. Wasted year for our pillars might be in the cards which I'm not a fan of.
I don't think it'll be that tough honestly. Tougher than most years? Sure because we were Superbowl faves. But I think it'll be like 2020. I think we'll have a winning record.

I give it to you, you are more optimistic than I can be. We just finished 5-12 and we lost even more talent, not sure how that doesn't equate to a tough year if we don't add quality players to help replace those that left. It can still change for sure but so far no movement there.

I won't love tanking but its looking like thats the direction we are going. Apparently there are 2 "generational" type QB's at the top: The well known Caleb Williams, and then the less known Drake Maye, who I don't know much about at all. There will also be one of the best WR prospects in many years - Marvin Harrison Jr. And from what I see in early mocks, a great tackle projected 1st overall from Notre Damen Joe Alt (I also know nothing about him, but he must be good to be mocked above the QB's and WR).

They played half a season with nearly a preseason roster

I think the stat said that we lost the most games to injury in the past 20 years. So us going 5-12 doesn't mean much to me. And losing Floyd isn't a huge dent imo. He's a quality edge but he's not a defacto game changer. Idk. We said this in 2019 but we ended up getting better. I think we will be okay.

Idk this front office is one of the more candid in the league. They usually say what they're thinking and they've been adamant that they aren't tanking. An Mcvay is a straight up miserable dude when we're losing. I don't see him sitting on the sidelines willing to take L after L next season.

Watch 2023 be the best football played by the Rams in years....lol........would figure right?
That's what I'm saying. Noone and I mean NOONE thought the Seahawks would win games, let alone be in the playoffs based on their offseason and roster, but they did and were. Noone and I mean NOONE thought the AFC west would suck a bag of dicks (aside the chiefs) like they did after all the offseason moves and rosters they sported. But they did. In fact, the nfl last season consisted of more weak teams than good teams, even though many of those weak teams made "smart" moves during the offseason. We could very well be a decent team even though our roster or offseason doesn't picture it.

Most injuries were on the offensive line. The o-line will not be immensely much better without adding to that room. We got the shit kicked out of us in week 1 with everyone healthy and we are even less talented on defense too now. I doubt the offense can elevate enough to counter the drop on defense. I'm not trying to be a downer, just trying to give an honest perspective. That Whiners pass rush is going to give us all kinds of fits and Shecocks are going to give us a tough time too. We are possibly fighting with the Cards for 3rd in our division as of this moment unless there are some moves we make that add some talent to the roster.

Don't know about anyone else but I'm tired of the "tank for Caleb" bullshit. I hate that it's even a thing. I get expectations are lower but let's not be foolish the price they charge for parking tickets and the fact the fan base is weak you better put a good product out there that makes the playoffs and worse is the gearing for 2024 so dumb and such a turn off even try and digest that. That's a mentality for losers to me and I thought the rams had shed that. I'd be very disappointed in a throw away season.

Trust me, I'd rather we not tank, but holding on to that 2024 money and not spending it speaks volumes. I could care less what they say because no team ever comes out and says, yeah we are tanking this coming year to a fan base. It's a great way to reduce revenue for sure. I guess I'm just looking at the model that NFL teams with young talented QBs use which is, get a really good, young QB on a cheap contract and pay like a motherfucker to surround him with talent since the QB cap hits are the most crippling. I could be wrong but that's what their actions are showing so far. That could definitely change if they make some moves none of us expects.

The Eagles showed that this can work. And having a guy like Mohomes shows that you don't even have to have blue chip guys on offense (outside of one TE Kelce) and you can still win it all. Caleb is similar to Mahomes IMO. And will be on a rookie contract. Absolutely don't want to intentionally tank, and, our coaches and players won't. The end result could still be the same and us getting a top pick. We would absolutely have to 100% nail this draft with our top picks to realistically contend in the West. Even then, with the whiners spending spree and the hags improving, it will be tough.

The OL will be better if they just have a normal injury yr.

With Allen and Noteboom, I'm just waiting for an injury to happen since they've been reliable in that department. Not trying to trash them, they just don't inspire faith based on their past injury history.

I am guessing they look at both those guys as depth or will have someone very capable of replacing them... Jackson/Shelton and or a high level rookie.

I find it rather ironic he's having second thoughts to playing in the City that hosts the AVNs (that's NSFW if you need to look it up).
