With the 248th pick, The Tampa Bat Buccaneers select

Nick Zakelj, OT, Fordham

Overview
Decorated four-year starting tackle with NFL-caliber size and traits. Zakelj plays with strain and aggression. However, his block sustain and finish are occasionally derailed by modest knee bend and core strength at the point of attack. Athletic feet and reactive athleticism allow him to stay connected to outside edge speed or inside counters in his pass sets. Despite his foot agility, he is just average in getting three-techniques reached on backside zone blocks, but there is a noticeable pop into initial contact when coming off the ball and getting downhill. Field toughness, an NFL frame and pass protection ability give Zakelj a shot as a swing tackle with the potential to develop into a bigger contributor.
Strengths
  • NFL size and length for the tackle position.
  • Plays with athletic hands and feet in pass protection.
  • Pass sets with independent hands and quality hand resets.
  • Agile and fluid in redirecting his weight and mirroring rushers.
  • Good feel for pocket depth and riding the rusher around the arc.
  • Patient off snap to locate and catch slanting defenders.
  • Displays hand pop into first contact in run game.
  • Block finisher's effort and demeanor.
Weaknesses
  • Very average knee-bender.
  • Below-average pad level and leverage as drive blocker.
  • Power players able to knock him off-balance at point of attack.
  • Will have some issues securing reach blocks on the outside zone.
  • Loses base width as pass set progresses.
  • Lacks desired stoutness on outside edge in pass pro.
  • Occasional lunging issues pop up from time to time.

Vikings, fwiw. Anyone know their needs?
Anything Defense, SAfety or LB focussed. Also need Interior OL and WR. From memory, they picked DB in the 1st and picked up LB at some point.

I have a OG in mind that I was going to use for the Bengals but I actually have list of players that will work for the 2 picks I have left so am happy to share. In any case I will wait for Karate.

Of The 2022

ROD NFL Mock Draft

The Green Bay Packers Select:

Juanyeh Thomas

Safety

Georgia Tech

Overview

Height: 6' 1"

Weight: 206 lbs

40 Yard Dash: 4.55

Nice-sized safety with next-level athleticism. Effectively diagnoses plays, flows laterally to the action, and stays within the system. Plays disciplined football, keeps the action in front of him, and possesses a closing burst. Fires up the field and gives effort defending the run. Works well with cornerbacks to bracket receivers and shows cover skills in the short field.

Thomas showed a lot of skill the past two seasons and possesses the size as well as the speed to play on Sundays. He’s more of a traditional strong safety who can be used in a zone system.

@ScotsRam hasn't been around for a while.

How about Quentin Lake S UCLA??????

Overview
Safety prospect with the size, bloodlines and intelligence to make an NFL roster. Lake isn't the fastest or the most athletic player and has coverage limitations that cap his ceiling, but he has a high football IQ and impressive ball skills. He sees the field well, which helps him get to where he needs to go. He's not an enforcer near the line of scrimmage but does tackle with good strength and technique to finish the job. He was a demon on special teams as a freshman and will likely reprise that role as a backup in the league.
Strengths
  • Possesses NFL bloodlines and size.
  • Plus football intelligence and leadership.
  • Can play as a split safety or as a down safety.
  • Sees the field and anticipates where he is needed.
  • Capable ball-tracker with hands to take it away.
  • Poised and focused on playing the 50-50 ball.
  • Gets wide in the hole to squeeze the runner.
  • Snaps up into the tackle with face-up delivery.
Weaknesses
  • Struggles with footwork to recover from missteps.
  • Doesn't have juice to match and smother man routes.
  • Might be a step slow to play effectively over the top from off the hash.
  • Inconsistent to diagnose and respond to run quickly.
  • Occasionally loses tackle angles when running the alley.
  • Average lateral agility as an open-field tackler.

And a huge shout out to TK for his outstanding job of wrangling all us knuckleheads to put on a kick ass draft -- a thankless and herculean feat. Your patience and leadership are hereby recognized and appreciated.

Good on ya, TK :clinkingbeer:

Have a reasonable haul thus far … Chiefs may need a LB or DE ?
