Hearing Snead today seems like he after a lot of the stuff we been saying on this board. However looking around the league they seem to want a higher end guy not a space filler Fowler Ingram etc. As of now I don't see anything those type of edge rushers don't grow on trees. Only one stands out rt now that can be had for just money is Clowney. Wonder if AD would give his blessing on that?

Maybe they will wait until the trade deadline next fall and swing another trade.

I still think you have to grab some one like Ingram or Hughes now and maybe even use them as part of a mid season trade. The rams have been really good at pulling off mid season gems but that just seems very hard to count on and too risky.

If Hunter was traded after 6/1 the cap hit goes down for Minnesota. Maybe the Rams worked out some deal where they don’t get him until then?

I share the Edge-concern but Ingram will be 33, and had two sacks in 15 games last year. Hughes will be 34, and had two sacks in 17 games. Heck, Terrell Lewis had three sacks in 11 games.

Sack totals can be miss-leading but I'm not sure those two vets are good options.

I'd pass on both. Only one I'd be "excited" about right now is Clowney.

Playing beside AD99, I would expect those older and written off edge rushers to be rejuvenated.

Miller himself was seen as past his prime by many until he came to the Rams. Now he is seen as a clutch, elite performer again.

I would prefer a big name like Hunter if the price is right and the money is workable and sustainable, but would not be too upset if the Rams go the Houston or Ingram route. I would at least approach it with an open mind. If the Rams think either player is a scheme fit, then I would expect them to excel here, just like all the others did before them.

EDIT - People also act like our pass rush is chopped liver. Floyd, Gaines, and AD is already a formidable unit. We got by just fine with it for most of last season. Miller took it to a new, completely game dominating level. We all want that back, naturally, but perhaps the Rams decide to opt for a later season pickup again, especially given how the NFC has declined and what the Rams have now might well suffice as-is for top seeding. Give in-house guys like Hollins a chance to prove they cannot replace Miller before we go spending cap dollars and assets to address the pass rush. Who knows. I don't think that approach would be unreasonable.
They also might want to see how the draft pans out, how ready Garrett might be to contributing, and how Lewis & Hollins look in camp.

I agree with everyone would want to play beside AD. BUT, how much longer does AD want to carry the weight? He's getting older and will be slowing down. He may not want to be the shoulder that carries all for much longer, and I don't blame him.

God damnit. Getting frustrated with the lack of us getting an EDGE

As of now unless we have an ace somewhere that someone is willing to dump that's high level type Clowney is best suited for the slot. He had 9 sacks last year with Miles Garrett.

So could he better that with AD Floyd possibily Wagner Ramsey and a possible upgrade at the other corner spot?

What the Rams lack is Millers ability to set the edge and sniff out screens. He was great at that. It was a huge difference against the Niners. Prior to him they’d send Trent Williams a RB, Deebo and Kittle hard on their left side and the Rams couldn’t stop it. Millers pass rush ability was just icing on the cake.

Hollins can’t do that. Lewis can’t do that. I doubt Ernest Brown can do that but that is what I believe they drafted him to be. I also doubt Garrett had the bulk or football intuitiveness to do that. Dante Fowler was good against the run. Maybe Engram could be. Hunter would be the best remaining option, if he’s still an option.
Agreed! You won't get any argument from me on that. Replacing Miller will be a tall task, both for his ability to seal the edge and his pass rush prowess. I don't think there is any way we win the Super Bowl without him, and he was huge to being able to counter the 49ers run game.

All I am saying is, many were lukewarm on Miller too when he arrived, thinking him too old, past his prime, etc. But beside AD99, Miller quickly was back to his old self. Therefore, I suspect that guys like Engram and Houston would be similarly rejuvenated, even if they don't bring the complete package Miller does.

Whoever the Rams bring in, they will definitely do their diligence on him in terms of fitting into the system and culture. Once those boxes are checked, I would expect any edge we bring in to excel, at least relative to recent performance, due to the Aaron Donald effect.

Clowney is a very good run stopper as well which why as of now if no trades to be made Clowney is our best option coming of 9 sacks.

No off-season is perfect. They may not add an Edge player of any significance.

Snead said that when Miller signed with Buffalo, the Rams decided to “pivot to a different position” and signed Robinson.
