Pretty sure you cant move dead cap (signing bonus/restructure etc)to another team, since that money was paid out previously. The only $$ that can be moved is current bonus monies etc
Falcons are flat-out blowing it up. They've got a ton of $$ from Julio still on their cap as well.
The good news is that next year they'll have more than 130mil in space. If I'm them, unless there is an absolute difference maker when they draft.. I keep trading back and amass as much young talent this year that I can... and next year draft a QB and buy some vets. Use the Rams approach with this year's draft in going for as many truly useful players and try to sign top-end players at premium positions next offseason, if possible.

The NFL's attention span seems to make the old draft and develop strategy alone, iffy at best. If it's not successful, then the few really good-great players are wasted like Matthew Stafford in Detroit. It seems that GM's like Les Snead are not common with Demoff to structure a team when vets are brought in to fit under the salary cap. We are so blessed to have the Front Office that we have now.

So... I went to therams.com and looked at their free agent tracker.

Something VERY strange happened.

It started to load and the first picture on the "agreed to terms with the Rams" area was... Stephon Gilmore. It quickly (few milliseconds) resolved to what's shown. I tried to reload the page and for 2 or 3 more tries, it would do that.

I know what Gilmore looks like and i only had the ROD and therams.com tabs open. And I can read...

So, either I'm so exhausted I'm hallucinating, therams.com web team has this stuff ready to go for a ton of players just in case or... something's happening and they got it ready to post, but maybe accidentally uploaded it prior to any announcement and then pulled it down, but the page drawing wasn't fully cached on the server and for a brief few milliseconds sent out the old info?...

I was probably seeing things, but...
Dammit, I'm at work so don't do that cuz I have a woody now. Hard to stand up, emphasis on hard, and work effectively like that. Hopefully it's not a wasted boner now hahaha

You aren't kidding.
There's blowing things up, and then there's this:
They have 63 mill in dead cap in 2022 and that doesnt even count Calvin Ridley....
So they have 145 mill to spend on active players and 3 guys, (Grady Jarrett, Jake Matthews & Deion Jones) make up 70 mill of that.
That leaves 75 mil of cap space for the 48 highest contracts?
Wow

Good God, we're going to have one legged Terrell Lewis or journeyman Hollind start opposite Floyd.

They secure the cheaper edge rushers and we trade for hunter. And there could be something in place already???

I can't tell if you're trolling or not. Haha.

Def NOT trolling. My fat tired ass nearly fell out of my chair when I saw it and that’s why I was so confused and kept trying to replicate it.

We’ll see what happens, but if we know one thing, it’s that the Rams FO isn’t done.

I also imagine that after Von’s surprise leaving, the FO isn’t doing anything until they are assured AD is coming back and they’ve gotten the new deal inked and set by the league.

One less edge rusher now...... seeming more and more like we are going to either get a cheap veteran type like Houston or Ingram or just go with what we have.............now watch us sign Clowney in the next hour or so lol
Playing beside AD99, I would expect those older and written off edge rushers to be rejuvenated.

Miller himself was seen as past his prime by many until he came to the Rams. Now he is seen as a clutch, elite performer again.

I would prefer a big name like Hunter if the price is right and the money is workable and sustainable, but would not be too upset if the Rams go the Houston or Ingram route. I would at least approach it with an open mind. If the Rams think either player is a scheme fit, then I would expect them to excel here, just like all the others did before them.

EDIT - People also act like our pass rush is chopped liver. Floyd, Gaines, and AD is already a formidable unit. We got by just fine with it for most of last season. Miller took it to a new, completely game dominating level. We all want that back, naturally, but perhaps the Rams decide to opt for a later season pickup again, especially given how the NFC has declined and what the Rams have now might well suffice as-is for top seeding. Give in-house guys like Hollins a chance to prove they cannot replace Miller before we go spending cap dollars and assets to address the pass rush. Who knows. I don't think that approach would be unreasonable.

That would be sweet.

Now you are thinking like Snead. All creative and stuff.

But after paying the bonus isn’t the rest of Hunter’s deal cheap?

What the Rams lack is Millers ability to set the edge and sniff out screens. He was great at that. It was a huge difference against the Niners. Prior to him they’d send Trent Williams a RB, Deebo and Kittle hard on their left side and the Rams couldn’t stop it. Millers pass rush ability was just icing on the cake.

Hollins can’t do that. Lewis can’t do that. I doubt Ernest Brown can do that but that is what I believe they drafted him to be. I also doubt Garrett had the bulk or football intuitiveness to do that. Dante Fowler was good against the run. Maybe Engram could be. Hunter would be the best remaining option, if he’s still an option.

I’d trade two future firsts and more for Kyle Pitts in the future. He’s an absolute fucking beast.
