Saw it mentioned in the gameday thread but it wouldn't surprise me if Arians retires. He looked like shit. I suspect his health might be poor.

Legit.

His color looked BAD the entire game.

I was actually worried for him. I wanted to beat the brakes off of them, but don't wish ill on anyone.

Being an HC in 2022 is not for the elderly... the pressure is enormous

I don't blame Evero so much because of what he was given to work with from McVay and Snead. I do love me some Aubrey Pleasant but Scott, Long and to an extent Rapp all have shown progress. I just think they were used in roles less suited for them. I also mainly listed him because he's been with us longer than Henderson has but I think Shula has been here the longest of those three. He may go in house or he may go with another vet who was let go from his last team.

If Morris gets a HC gig, it wouldn't bother me to bring back Pleasant as HC. We miss him.

Pleasant as DC makes a lot of sense, whether Morris is hired or not. Aubrey knows the scheme, he knows the players and their strengths and weaknesses. Darious Williams is having a tough year, but IMO it's because he's a man coverage CB not a zone CB. He thrived under Staley because of his Zone/Man coverage hybrid scheme. The same can be said about Rapp who is your prototype in the box SS, he isn't a FS as Morris often uses him.

It's painfully obvious that Morris didn't do his pre-TC film work to determine the strengths and weaknesses of his players. His scheme looks better because now late in the year he's finally figured out who can do what. But that isn't to say he's now the next coming of Staley. IMO it was a huge mistake by McVay not to promote Pleasant to DC and IMO its a big reason he left.

The dropping of the Ram D from #1 to #17 in the NFL is simply due to Morris' inane soft zone.

Pleasant by all accounts wanted to go home to Detroit, despite it being a downgrade and possible career setback. McVay could have blocked him from leaving, but was clear he honored Pleasant's wishes.
That said, you're going to still drive Morris out of town after that defensive masterpiece yesterday? Good grief

I didn't say that.

I said IF Morris gets an HC gig, THEN I'd be happy with having Pleasant back.

Based on the changes he's made since the losing streak/COVID outbreak, Morris is almost like a different DC and this one I really like and would be happy if he returned.

IF Morris gets a nod, more power to him.

Personally, I'd rather keep him and get some continuity there.

Everyone is all over his replacement but I think it would be great to see him get another year with our defense.

I've not been a huge fan of the soft defense when we get a lead but he has developed our defense IMO and I think he will just get better with our personnel.

I hope we keep him because we don't get picks if he leaves this year.

Morris has made good adjustments and is now getting much more bang for his buck from his talented roster.

If he stays as DC next year we should be fine and will receive those 2 3rd round comp picks in ‘23 and ‘24. No small thing.

However…

If Morris leaves as a new HC somewhere it won’t break my heart, I promise you. Honestly, this D is so loaded that any reasonably competent DC should be able to get them to at least Top 5 status. IOW, exceed Morris accomplishments. And I suspect that McVay would have his pick of the litter among bright up-and-comer candidates.

So, que sera, sera…
