Who are our Pro Bowlers

I can clearly agree with this. He is our best player...But several defenders (Ogletree, Barron, TJ MacDonald) are finally closing the gap.

@TheDYVKX
My bad...not trying to beat you over the head....But I think you guys want him in the pro bowl because of what UK is saying...he's OUR best player...not necessarily better/more deserving than others at his position.
I think its more the fact that he is still so so good on a bad team .... and we have had deserving players on bad teams and they never made it due to other players that had the name but not the stats to back it up so pardon me if I'm not boo hooing over other teams players who haven't made it ;)

Fill me in

Man...congrats bro....don't worry yourself about the 2016 season...they have most of the games on youtube now...so you can catch up...and tell US what YOU think...

Goff = rookie...really needs a pro offseason IMO.

Gurley = I'd almost call what he's doing as pouting...And, I'm pretty sure while we don't have the best talent as linemen, I can point to the Offensive line scheme as a major problem..If we leave ANOTHER UNBLOCKED DT in the hole....Seriously looked confused up there. Glad Gurley spoke up...it was becoming a circus.

Defense...frustrated...we need new blood at DC, CB , and DL...We'll be fine over there.

Sources: Jon Gruden a focal point in L.A. Rams' coaching search

I do feel strongly that we need a person who has had established success as a successful HC in the NFL at some point... ideally, a long track record of success (not some super nova crap). The Fisher hire fit some of that, but - if you actually looked under the hood at his record as a HC - it might have given you some hesitation. But, he was a name for sure... learn from that mistake. The new guy has to have a proven record of sustained success.

I think Gruden fits that bill, as does Payton.

I really like Shaw but I get nervous because he has no NFL HC experience.
I agree with all of this, totally. I don't think Fisher was a "name" coach, I think like you said he checked all the boxes, but sadly the red flags about him pretty much all came with him.

I can get behind the hot coordinator theory but much prefer what you are preaching. I do think the Shanahan situation is an interesting one, as Shanny SR could be vital. Let him take the Dave McGinnis "assistant Head Coach" role while Junior the full fledged HC

Gruden would have been great, and I'd love nothing more than to hear an "I told you so" if Gruden reverses course and signs on

Bones

Who is painting him as a hero. He had 3 days to prepare a team. What did they have to lose nothing I didn't have a problem with the call and it's only stupid when it doesn't work. This team has nothing to fight for so why not go all out
He only had 3 days to prepare, then he shouldn't have been focusing on an ill conceived fake punt that everyone was expecting.

Former GM Casserly: What to look for in HC candidates

I, along with most on here are obviously biased towards the Rams and feel that it's the better job. However, after taking a closer look, the Jacksonville job isn't too far behind.

The biggest asset to consider would be the QB's. I would favor Goff over Bortles at this point. Bortles has regressed considerably after showing promise while Goff is still an unknown. I wouldn't think there would be much difference in arm talent but Goff is 2 years younger. The Jaguars' GM has recently said that the new coach wouldn't be forced to make it work with Bortles so they may wind up having to find a new QB but they also have a likely top 3 draft pick. This might be even depending on how a candidate feels about Goff.

I'll give a slight edge to the Jacksonville O-Line because of pass protection. Neither team can run block for crap.

Gurley is way better than anyone they have. Robinson, Hearns, Lee and Julius Thomas vs. Britt, Quick, Tavon and Kendricks, you do the math.

As for the defenses, both are young and talented. The Jaguar defense is currently ranked #7 overall. We have the best punter in the league.

Then you have the cities themselves, LA vs. Jacksonville. Would the coach be a "star" type comfortable with the limelight. I personally love living here in So Cal but it ain't for everyone. Plus living in Florida isn't too shabby either. I don't know what the media scrutiny is like in Jacksonville but Fisher was eaten alive here in LA. I've heard on the radio that Gruden and his family are moving to So Cal (regardless of coaching job) and Asshole Face has a daughter that attends one of the local universities so those maybe factors as well.

Might just come down to $$$. Stan has more than Kahn but as many athletes have pointed out, there are no state income taxes in Florida.

Asshole Face could be available

Heard the same interview. King says Rams were very high on Schiano before they hired Fisher and he may be in play again now. :puke:

Not a chance.

King has no idea wtf is going on with the Rams because his network is primarily on the least coast. His take follows that, since whatever they do would be a surprise to him.

The key here is what the Saints are telling the Rams they want in compensation. That plus maybe how badly Sean wants this job. I am sure he wants it, but how much? Enough to tell ownership they're gonna have an unhappy coach on their hands if they don't make this happen? That type of thing can influence cost of the trade since it undermines the Saints' position.

I believe the Saints realize Payton has outgrown them. He's ready for the bigtime job, and they can take a flyer on another up and coming coach. Question is whether cash considerations would be enough.

Go get Elway....

Elway is an outlier. Most ex-players are probably going to crash and burn in a GM type environment. And yes, he is not really an option anyway.

I'd prefer the Rams blanket front offices to unearth guys who have busted their butts from scout on up, guys who have done the work. Sustained success in this league is about the draft. Rams are better than they were, but still not good enough there. They need to get this right.

What Should we do with Greg Robinson-POLL

You are my favorite "go to" guy regarding OL matters, Bonifay. Let me riddle you this... Why in the world would all 5 OL starters simultaneously take a step backward in '16? This dilemma is far more than just about GRob. I don't see any way that it's not at least significantly related to coaching. Therefore, new coaching might enable the Rams to dramatically improve their OL play. GRob could be starter at LOT or riding the pine in '17 or somewhere in between.
Here's a review of what I know.....in an attempt to answer your riddle.:santa:I do think its much bigger than GRob.

OG Jamon Brown -Boudreau started JB @ RG in all 4 pre season games. JB did not have a good pre season fact is it was bad. JB appeared not to be fully recovered from the surgery & broken leg from November of 2015. JB & Cody Wichmann rotated in wk#1 & RG . JB was demoted to swing OG position for Wk#2. When Cody was injured JB regained starting RG wk#5 & wk#6. At some point during wk#7 JB broke his hand. JB had surgery to repair a metacarpal fracture in his right hand & was inactive for a month. JB next starting action came @ LG wk#12 & wk#13 for starting LG Saffold. JB is a reserve OG. Has JB's performance regressed? was JB slow to recover from the broken leg his rookie season? Has the coaches decision to flip flop playing side & positions... caused his poor play that lost his starting post? Did the broken hand injury & surgery cause him issues? Its a questionable hard response to say here that JB regressed after his one rookie season where he only finished 8 games as a NFL starter...is it due to coaching.

OG Rodger Saffold started the 2016 season coming off two reconstructive shoulder surgeries & rehabbing events. RS took over the RT starting post very early in OTA's & continued to start @ RT in TC & all of pre season. Opening game Boudreau flipped RS from RT to LG. Saffold looked very light on his feet & played very well in pre season @ RT. RS has not looked as good @ LG as he had @ RT earlier this season. Saffold started wk 12 @ LT for GRob and looked good in the first two series without any mistakes or blocking issues. But RS broke his hand in the 1st quarter & had surgery on 12/1/16. Missed one full game & 3/4 of another. RS return to start @ LG since that event. Hard to judge if RS has regressed this season due to the fact that RS was IR'd for the last two previous seasons while playing OG. So what are we basing this regression on...I thought he looked good @ RT with no regression IMO. Maybe the real fact is Saffold is really much more NFL OT than OG. Tell me how many good full NFL seasons RS has had @ OG???? NONE would be the correct answer. so what is our bases here to judge this regression on. IMO Saffold is a good NFL OT...not so good NFL OG.

OC Tim Barnes injured his foot on 11/2016 & has been battling through pain ever since & surgery is not out of the question when the season ends. This is TB's 2nd season as starting center. Once again TB has played & started & made line calls with four different starting OG playing next to him. He also has 2 starting OT's who's performance is far below average. Has TB regressed due to coaching or is it because of an ongoing nagging serious injury?

RT Rob Havenstein- We were informed very little about this supposed foot injury of RH when OTA's was on going. We learned he was PUP'd early with a foot injury of some type. We did not see any of RH in TC or most of pre season. But it was uncovered by one reporter & finally confirmed that big Rob broke his big toe very early in OTA's . This of course is a way bigger deal than a "foot issue" as reported by Fisher. RH was the best Ram OL'er in 2015 season where he did not allow a sack & opened gapping holes for Gurley. Playing all season on a broken toe might cause some little issues in RH play you think. So yes RH has regressed significantly but was it due to coaching? or injury?

OG Cody Wichmann- Started 7 games @ RG in 2015 after spending all of TC & preseason dealing with a two different calf injuries. Boudreau played CW exclusively @ LG in place of Rodger Saffold who was starting @ RT for all of TC & pre season for Havenstein. On the opening season game Boudreau flipped CW back to RG & rotated CW & Jamon Brown at this position. Wk#2 CW started @ RG & played well in the Seattle game which we won. CW continued to start @ RG with the Ram winning the 3 games he was healthy # starting. Wk#5 10/9/16 CW suffered a ankle injury then missed the following week of practice & was not active for the Lions game. CW has not played well since. Fact is after his poor play against the New England wk#13 he was sat down & Andrew Donnal the swing OT was inserted into CW starting post. CW was active wk#14 but was inactive for wk #15. Due to the situation with CW....Reserve RG David Arkin was brought up from the PS in place of CW.

OG/OT Andrew Donnal may have started earlier @ RG in place of CW but the Rams sat down GRob wk#12 & Donnal was the 3rd swing OT behind starters @ OT Saffold & Havenstein. Donnal due to a broken hand by Saffold in the 1st quarter played most of the game @ OLT it may have been the vest mistake free play seen @ OLT all season. Donnal was also battling through a thigh injury that occurred against the Pats. Sure appears that AD 2016 performance has improved not regressed.

Greg Robinson - Not more needs to be said here..Grob played his best NFL football during the later half of last season. It would not be wrong to state that GRob's performance late in 2015 was tied up with the placement of Garrett Reynolds as starter @ LG. Garrett was injury released when the 2016 season began & with that GRob's performance went south...yes GRob has regressed but is it due to GRob or coaching?

Jared Goffs Big Ol' Poll.... What??!

I'm agreeing with you that Goff has flaws.

I think I may disagree as to the extent of those flaws or perhaps the attribution.
Respect your opinion Mac...
I've seen rookie QB's....Marino, Elway, Aikman....seen these new ones Newton, Winston, Marriota....Saw Stafford, Ryan, Dalton...Watched Sam....

Goff looks more like Akili Smith, Cade McNown, Brandon Weedon...than Elway, or Ryan....so, he has quite a ways to go b4 any elite play. Hell, If I'm being honest, Johnny Manziel looked better.

And you can't say every good rookie played in a great offense. Just not true.

How many of you still give a crap about Goffs "small hands"?
So all the fumbles, and bad throws in cold weather is just what? didn't even wanna PASS in the rain...hell yeah, hand size matters..maybe bigger hands he puts that ball on Quick in the endzone....

My advice about future defense

So his online last year helped him get to the pro bowl (pretty much the same five players minus Reynolds ) and the guy that gave up exactly zero sacks last year is suddenly sucky ... can we upgrade over Hav ? Yeah ... but I'd look at other positions before I'd go after him ... like our "franchise" LT
Exactly...my solution is to move our franchise LT to RT....let Havenstein ride the bench...He's given up enough sacks this year to prove last year was a fluke. Dude doesn't have the ability to be a productive player in the league right now...and that's not coaching...that's the scouts.
