How do we fix these killer mistakes?

The kicking game has lost us 2 games... McVay said this pretty much in his presser.

What is the answer to this... I know we are not special teams experts, but how do we stop this from happening?

Short yardage - we don't see dynamic enough on short yardage.

Kyren's fumbling - What is the answer to this recurring nightmare?

Weakness at cornerback - This group is susceptible.

Kyren Williams

Well, someone has to ask the question. Was it a good idea to extend him? Everyone was well aware of the fumbling problem. It wasn't a one off thing. He's had his share of fumbles. This time it cost a game against a bitter division rival.

If they let him play out the year they could take a close look and see if the body of work is enough to overcome the fumbling problems. If not, they have Blake Corum waiting in the wings to be the RB1. And Jarquez Hunter behind him waiting for his shot.

Now they've got him under contract. Not so easy to move on. Do they stick with him because they're paying him? Or do they give the rock to Corum? Make Kyren the 3rd down back. Its hard to be patient when you have to wonder if one of these fumbles will cost a playoff game.

On November 28, 2021

We had our third consecutive loss in Green Bay by a scoreline that, quite honestly, flattered us.

And we know what happened after that.

So maybe, just maybe, a few people need to calm the fuck down.

Last night was the flip side of the game against the Colts.

Everything seemed to go in our favour in that game, and everything seemed to go against us last night, albeit most of the wounds were self-inflicted.

McVay's teams typically improve as the season progresses, and if that guy hasn't earned our trust over the last better part of a decade, then I honestly don't know what he's got to do to do so.

Williams worries me because it has to have some psychological effect on how McVay calls plays. And for that one reason alone, I won't be that sorry when he leaves. But other than that, oh, and the kicking game, I'm not too stressed.

....yet

Glass Half Full

I've wallowed since last night. Couldn't sleep. Was sick to my stomach, just revisiting the Corum fumble, Kyren drop on 3rd down, the missed FG, the blocked XP, the last Corum fumble, and the 4th and 1 playcall. This is how good we can be - with the above, we left a possible 18 points on the board. With our terrible defensive showing, we still should have won this game by 10-14 points. It would have ended up looking VERY similar to the Bills/Dolphins Thursday game from a week or two ago, where it was back and forth but the Bills pulled away.

I need this post to clear my head and move on from this damn game. So here we go..

-This is officially the best offense we've had since 2018. Yes we won it all in 2021, but we couldn't run the ball to save our lives.
-Stafford is ON FIRE - this is a Super Bowl caliber offense
-With two backups, the OL held up - though part of that was the Niners having no healthy players
-Adams is still an elite WR, and it opens this offense up
-Puka is the best WR in the league
-This has to be Kyren's last chance, and I'm chalking this up as a positive because for us to make a run, he can't fumble again

The above were positives after watching the first five games. Pass rush or no, the Niners pass defense had been VERY good, and Shanahan knew they wouldn't be able to stop us anyways.

Kyren fumbling is what it is. The dropped pass that led to the missed FG was also a HUGE play.

Weird stuff happens on Thursday nights....so what are the real takeaways here?

-Clean up the execution on some things - goes without saying
-GO GET A CB

Sean, please. Please. This appears to be the best year of Stafford's entire career thus far. We're five games in. He's playing at an MVP level. And while we've shown we CAN play with anyone (Eagles), we've shown we can play with anyone (this walking IR Niners team last night). What was the common theme in both games? PLEASE SEAN.

The execution will get cleaned up. Kyren will know that one more fumble and he may not be a Ram. Those things are fixable. The execution is fixable.

Right now, we are a good (10/11 win) team who can win a playoff game. But with this CB room (even with Akhello I fear), we cannot win it all. I would rather spend one of our first round picks to maximize this season from Matt than roll the dice with this shitty CB room. PLEASE SEAN. Please.

TLDR: everything will be fixed from last night. The game meant nothing. The Brady Pats once lost to a bad Bills team 31-0. The Chiefs from a few years ago lost to an awful Raiders team. David has been beating Goliath since the beginning of time. The worst part for me is that I love watching and listening to everything in the media about the Rams, and I have to turn that off for 10 days - but everything will be fixed.......it will be. Except that our CB room can't magically get better, and it IS the thing that will stop this team from being a Super Bowl caliber team.

We will get it fixed. Avoid the media stuff. Avoid other forums. But us fixing it, we're still just a divisional round team right now until we upgrade that CB room.

EDIT: I forgot what I named this post - apologies, it probably should have been "well there is a glass, and its both half full and half empty"

Sloppiest game of McVay era?

I’m trying to find a silver lining in last night’s debacle. We were unprepared, outcoached in every phase of the game, and played the sloppiest game I’ve seen under McVay. Still, we had a chance to win it. How was that even possible? After every loss, McVay tells us that all they have to do is go back to work and clean up a little things but it seems to happen over and over again and nothing changes. A great example is the blocked kick situation. I coached high school football for over 20 years and we always taught out OL on PAT to step down and inward, close the gap to your inside yet we’ve lost two games now because we can’t figure that out. You would think after the first block in the Eagles game, the ST coach would sit down with his unit in the sideline and iron that shit out. Hell, they still haven’t figured it out. The soft zone shit, how many times are we going to let Jones throw a six yard pass? Fourth and short? We can never stop it but can never convert on our end. Kyren fumbling. Come on. Take care of the ball. Red zone woes? You had the entire off-season to draw something up yet we still struggle. This offense has to much talent to settle for field goals all the time. If McVay can just take care of those little issues, this team can compete with anyone.

Need input on tonights game....quite the dilemma I'm facing...

OK.... yeah, I'm a superstitious bastard. Help me choose wisely! I have an awesome Rams Corona beer Neon sign right next to my TV, and I am very superstitious of when to turn it on or off. I've usually turned it on till we lose, then I turn it off until we win again. It was on for the iggles game, then off for the Dolts.

Do I buck the system and turn it back on tonight? Let the jury decide.........

Surprised my grandson at the Titans game (short video)

So here's the story. I have converted my grandson who lives in Mississippi to a Rams fan. So much so he bought tickets for his girlfriend and himself to drive four hours away to Nashville to see the Rams play. When we found out about this, my wife said we should go to that game also and then visit some old friends in Spring Hill, TN and drive back to Mississippi to see my daughter and the other little rug rats.

So I told my grandson to send me screen shot of his tickets so I could see where he was sitting and then proceeded to buy 4 tickets three rows behind him. Never told him about this, wanted to surprise him and boy did we!

There's a little more to the story like him keep asking when we would come back out to see everyone. Had to keep making things up like flights and dates. We drove from So Cal, it took us 2.5 days and I couldn't post any news of our journey for family and friends.

It's a one minute video, too large to post on here so I created a link to my Google Photos. Hope you all can enjoy a special moment in our lives....
Surprising Grandson!

Rams GM Les Snead gives his take on Terrance Ferguson's slow start: 'Not there yet'

Rams GM Les Snead gives his take on Terrance Ferguson's slow start: 'Not there yet'

Snead says Ferguson is 'not there yet' but his time is 'definitely coming'

Rams Wire

One of the more puzzling storylines surrounding the Los Angeles Rams in the early part of this season has been Terrance Ferguson’s absence on offense. He’s played just four offensive snaps in four games, all of them coming in Week 2, and has been a healthy scratch in each of the last two weeks.

The Rams are deep at tight end with Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen, but Ferguson was their top pick at No. 46 overall and was viewed as one of the most talented tight ends in the class. Yet, he still doesn’t have a catch and hasn’t even been able to get on the field the last two weeks.

Sean McVay has remained optimistic about the rookie and expressed confidence in him, but how does general manager Les Snead feel about Ferguson’s slow start? He was asked by J.B. Long on the “Coach McVay Show” Monday about Ferguson not being involved in the game plan thus far and he said the rookie is “just not there yet,” but his time is “definitely coming.”

“We have a really good subset of offensive players, some of them with a lot of experience,” Snead said. “But not there yet – and not necessarily in what he can and can't do. He had a really, really good practice last week. Just think about this: He’s our first pick and he has to go to our practice field as a scout team and put on the jersey of Mr. (Tyler) Warren. I’m sure they respect each other, same draft class, but he really, really did a nice job of acting like him and that’s where you can see his skill set. So it’s definitely coming. I know Sean wants to insert him so you’re going to take some of the load off of Puka and Davante because we’re only four games through, we’re in Week 5 and we’ve got a lot more left and hopefully some bonus weeks after that. I think that’s where we’re at. I understand the frustration part. I can’t imagine what he’s going through sometimes, but I would say just not there yet. Getting there.”

The Rams have a long-term outlook for Ferguson, even if that means he won’t be involved much this season.

“Again, nothing he’s done, but he is probably more equipped today than yesterday to help the Rams because the more he goes out, continues to evolve in the nuances of what we’re trying to do. So as the weeks go on, he’ll only be more ready to play,” Snead added.

What’s especially frustrating about Ferguson’s lack of involvement is the minimal production the Rams are getting from their tight ends right now. Combined, Higbee, Parkinson and Allen have 14 catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns this season.

They’re not making big plays as receivers and though they are helping as blockers, the Rams badly need someone else to step up and take some of the pressure off of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams as the top targets.

Ferguson was a top-tier receiving tight end at Oregon and is elusive after the catch, unlike the Rams’ other players at that position. Sooner or later, he should get on the field but if he’s only relegated to scout team duties right now, it might be a little while before he makes a noticeable impact.

I really hope that oblique injury is the reason for the decline in Fiske play. They need him to be a disruptor. Other than that fumble recovery haven't seen much from him. Nice rebound by Dedich. Anyway, have at it.
