I don't hink our O-Line played well in pass protection. I think Goff was under too much pressure to do a whole lot. It was better than last year but worse than last week against the Colts.

Ogletree and Barron are not the run stopping mlb's this defense needs. I predicted that from the day Phillips was hired and this game reinforces that opinion.

Desperately need better OLB pass rush. So the entire LB Corp needs a revamp this off-season.

The corners will need help too. Lots of moves to be made on D. Maybe the can make a trade.

I think the OLB's are fine. Just a game ago Quinn and Barwin were making big plays. But I do think they get replaced in the offseason due to the fact that you can find edge rushers late in the draft
For cheap.

Olgletree will be fine. He needs to learn from this game and become a better inside run defender. But I've never been one to want to give him a big contract, just because he's never been a true inside LB.

Or.

Wade can change. Just last year this group ranked 10th in the league in YPA allowed against the run.

You might be right about Barron, but although Ogletree had one of his worst games, I still believe in him, but he needs to be paired with another ILB that is better against the run as the defense got exposed today against a good offensive line that took it to them.

I was expecting to get pushed around a bit in the run game. Don't like it, but expected it.

As much as Goff played a good game for the most part, my main vent is that when he had the chance to lead a drive to tie with 2 minutes left, he came out and on the very first play stares down a receiver to throw a terrible interception to a first read on a no-upside route. Seriously, what was the best case scenario on that throw? 7 yards and no clock stoppage?

I was stoked to get a chance to see the kid under legit pressure where getting it done is not an impossible feat. He hasnt been in that situation much. I hope he takes something away from it.

Oh, and holy hell did anyone cover the flat a single time today? Against a team that likes to throw to the backs and tight ends, you would figure not giving them 10 yards underneath to work with would be a good idea.

Can't throw the baby out with the bath water. Tree struggled early when he first was in Williams D. When the light bulb went on he was a beast. Let's hope the learning curve with Wade isn't too big

only rams fans would put Mcvay on the hot seat after two games ,,,sheesh
It's way too early to put anyone on the hot seat. It's on 2 games and it's a new scheme for everyone besides Sullivan, Webster, and Carrier.

I know I'm a lone wolf on this one ...but to me....it appears that he looks at the outside receiver on that same side first (Watkins?).... then his head and eyes come back more to the inside. Either way bad int.... but they sold out and gambled to make that play..... and imho....Goff will make them pay next time.....if given the time to do so.....oh well.

Go Rams....... ;)

That's great that you root for the team. The Rams didn't play a disappointing game. They were in it unlit 1:40 into the 4th quarter. They could have done better sure, but it's still a young team with a 1st year HC. You bagging on the fans that didn't go is spiteful to the fans that did go. I was there. I was screaming my lungs out until the end. I can't control who or who doesn't go to the game. I did my part. So yeah I'm gonna get upset when people say it was a home game for the redskins because freak that, the ones who were there made noise when it counted. Also funny how I never saw you post anything when the Rams slaughtered the colts. I only see you post when that Rams lose. Go figure.
I was screaming my head off too, so much so I think the people next to me thought I was crazy! I'm proud of the Rams even with the loss and will be there freaking out and losing my mind when the Seachickens come to town. See you there!

USC outdraws Rams, Chargers . . . combined
Posted by Mike Florio on September 18, 2017

The most interesting and, for the NFL, depressing fact of the day comes from L.A., where the two re-relocated franchises played on the same day before a turnout that surely has some owners wondering why they agreed to put two teams in a previously empty market. (And then they go back and admire their share of the relocation fees and they feel a lot better about it all.)

For their regular-season home opener at the 27,000-seat StubHub Center, the Chargers attracted 25,381 fans. The Rams, in their Week Two game against Washington, had 56,612 present. That’s a total of 81,993 for a pair of Los Angeles home games played on the same day.

The previous night at the Coliseum, USC drew 84,714 for a game against Texas. Which, obviously, is more than the combined attendance of the two NFL games.

Yes, the Chargers were closer to the stadium maximum than the Rams. But the fact that the Chargers can’t sell 27,000 tickets to an NFL game is alarming, especially since San Diego State drew more than 43,000 to the venue the Chargers abandoned a day earlier.

The Chargers could have chosen to remain in San Diego while the stadium they’ll share with the Rams in Inglewood is being built, but the Chargers chose to make the immediate move. It seemed smart at the time, given that the Rams already were in the L.A. market. But a quick, clumsy entrance ultimately may be worse than a slow, proper entrance.

Regardless, the question now becomes when/if someone will be making an exit from the L.A. market far sooner than planned. If the new, state-of-the-art, $2.6 billion venue doesn’t consistently attract capacity crowds or something close to it when it opens in 2021 (the same year the Raiders open a new stadium in Las Vegas), a league that spent 20 years trying to figure out how to put a team back in L.A. may need to start thinking about how to get one out, quickly.

The Rams battled back from 13 down when they would be bowed out last year, our offense scored 20 points despite not having the ball often
It is rare to still have a shot to take the lead late in a game where you have already yielded +200 yards rushing.
They were in it unlit 1:40 into the 4th quarter.
The big difference between this year's team and last years to me, I did not have that hopeless feeling after we fell behind 13-0 and 20-10. I actually thought we had a chance. I never felt like that last season. Even when we were down one score in the second half.
Disappointing but at least were competitive again.
My emotions were all over the place...

At times, when WA went up by 10 or more, I went into the Fisher "mind bend" and began thinking "that's it, not coming back from this". But then, they did muster comebacks... all the way to tying the game with 1:40 left.

Unfortunately, he couldn't hold that tie (Johnson being off the field certainly didn't help) and the INT by Goff at the worst time.

But, after the game, I felt like they competed despite all the foot shooting the defense and Woods gave the team. They showed character... a hell of a lot more character than the Fisher-led teams. I believe they would have bowed last year and the score would have ended up 27-10 (or worse).

So, I remain cautiously optimistic but I can see that work has yet to be done if they want to win consistently. Some of it can be fixed (penalties, poor execution) but one thing has me concerned... the size of our LBs.

WA played old style NFC East football... smash mouth, run it down your throats until you can prove to us that you have the heft to stop it. We're bringing the beef... can you stop us?

The Run D was actually quite good second half, but that first half was absolutely awful. Can't let up a 60+ yard TD with under 2 minutes in the first half. That was a back breaker.
gotta face facts bro, we didn't deserve to win allowing those soul crushing runs for first downs STRAIGHT up the gut. My freakin' God, you CANNOT win in the NFL allowing that. You just can't
The middle of the defense let us down. Very little push and huge freaking holes on the run and short passes. If it was in our gut, it was a sure first down. Really sad. Take the big gashes up the middle and the short passes just past the line and that is a win.
The offense didn't look great but probably good enough to win.
I didnt see many 2nd half adjustments by the D. I think Son of Bum was out coached. I dont think our D was over matched.
I think adjustments were made (bringing more defenders into the box)... luckily, they didn't kill us in the air... but that last drive... ouch.
The run defense in the first half was atrocious... and it concerns me (see next few quotes)

I think we have an undersized defense in our transition to the 3-4. And today we got manhandled by some monster O-linemen.
Ogletree and Barron are not the run stopping mlb's this defense needs.
I fear this may be correct. Other teams now have a blueprint for how to beat the Rams. And you can't magically add girth to the LB crew. They are what they are... fast, but (IMO) undersized. They can (and did) get pushed around by larger teams.

This was Fisher-ish in the sense that this was an opportunity to make a statement and have a shot at 3-0....they looked pathetic instead.
Yes, it was an ass kicking
Disagree.
I did not see a pathetic team... I saw an inconsistent team but a team that continued to battle back and was in the game going down the stretch after being down 10 and 13 points. Fisher-led teams did not know how to do that.
Nope... no ass kicking here as far as I could see.

Meh, Skins wanted it emore than us.
I said it this week... WA was a wounded animal and they are the most dangerous. To go to 0-2 in the NFC East is almost a death sentence. They came to play... they pushed the Rams around and came out victors.

Rams need to learn from this game... make the adjustments and figure out how to stop the run against teams with big Olines...

The good news (for me)? They play again in three days... I need to see more of them and the sooner, the better.
