Yeah if we see the top three off the board in the top three picks, then the fourth guy (will be Mayfield or Rosen) will be off the board as well soon thereafter. I was thinking Mayfield would last to the teens, but not now. Lot of teams are into this dude, and though Rosen has taken some hits on his personality, his talent will result in a high pick of that I have no doubt.

What we need is one of those second tier types or maybe two to be reached for in round one before we select. The more the better. :D
I am with Merlin on this.....we could be in an easy postilion to select NT Payne, ER Harold Landry or either of the ILB'ers Rashann Evans or Leighton Vander Esch .:yess: I see these 3 positions as our biggest needs.

Could not disagree with you more on this. You don't draft a QB for year one. You draft a QB for the next decade plus. It is an investment you have to make in the future, or you don't have a chance.

This year's QBs are the best crop in many years and that will bear true over the next five or so seasons as they start to grab the starting jobs around the league. There's options at the top, and it's a deep class.

Denver will build it around Keenum, figure out that their ceiling is limited with him, and go right back to needing to fix it right. In the draft.
We have a much different opinion about this years QB class. Rosen, Allen or Darnold aren’t in the same hemisphere as Goff and Wentz. It’s going to be a Ponder, Gabbert and Newton draft. With Mayfield probably being the best of the bunch.

Just because they’re in position to pick a QB doesn’t mean they should. Especially if they’re not worth a top 5 selection.

Same BS was said about Goff. That he was no Winston or Mariota. Disagreed back then just like I disagree with you now. If you don't like this QB class you'll probably never like any of them tbh.

Wager? I say picks 1-3 are QBs. If I’m correct, I get to write your auto signature that goes on all of your ROD posts for a year. If I’m wrong, you can write mine.

If the Giants dont want a new QB they can trade for lots of picks. The football is in their court so to speak. They could turn it around some this year and next year be ready to contend. Does Eli have 2 to 3 years in the tank?

The draft is still not clear.

you know Buffalo is on the other end of that phone blowing it up looking to jump up for one

I still don't know why they dumped Taylor..........it was foolish IMO.

Yeah the Browns were always going QB. They have a new GM that knows wtf he's doing. No way that dude is going to prioritize a position with a shelf life of 3-6 years over a pocket QB franchise option. He will take the QB he prefers at 1 period. They've passed on enough QBs who "weren't good enough for them."

Agree there is no way they do anything but take what they feel will be the QB of the future. They HAVE to right that ship for those fans, they owe them.

The Jets moved too early. They allow other teams too much time to plot to move above them. These type of moves should be reserved until the very last moment.

If they really like the top three QBs equally, then they simply did not complete their homework. You need to know exactly who you want and why based on your team philosophy & goals and rank the QB candidates accordingly. The Horns liked both Carson Wentz and Jared, but Jared gained the edge because his overall QB skill set and potential was higher. It is sheer laziness to simply regard QB candidates as all being equal. You gotta know who and what you want and then go get him.

I'm still not convinced the giants go QB. They used an early pick on Webb last year didn't They?
If I'm the Giants, im seriously considering Barkley.
Which could force Clev to take him at 1 and a QB at 4. Even though I think Clev should take Darnold. Darnold is a straight baller, that would take a lot of excitement with him to Clev

I tend to agree.

They’re definitely in an interesting spot. In range for the top QB’s in this draft... aging QB... is it time for his replacement, or not?

It's probably blasphemous for me to say this, especially as a newcomer, but I like Josh Rosen more than Jared Goff. Full disclosure, I'm a Bruin alumnus, but I think Rosen's intelligence would benefit from McVay's complicated schemes. Plus, Rosen is considered one of the most natural throwers at the QB position in recent memory.

Concerns over his personality are overblown IMO. He comes off as a smart guy who is just unafraid to speak his mind. The problem with Rosen is that he will try to force throws into coverage at times given his confidence in his abilities, but that same confidence also allows him to lead his team in comebacks. Having said that, Josh Allen has the highest upside out of all the quarterbacks in this draft class as a boom-or-bust pick but Sam Arnold probably has more intangibles and a higher ceiling than Rosen, who is the more NFL-ready of the bunch. Baker Mayfield seems like a wildcard as possibly the good version of "Johnny Football".

By the way, I eventually liked both Goff and Carson Wentz leading up to the 2016 draft, but I was actually campaigning for Wentz at the time.

Goff is obviously the safer bet during our current window for championship contention, but I think Rosen will be the better QB over time as long as he goes to the right team. I'm not even saying Rosen will be an all-time great, but it just seems like he and McVay would be a great match together.

The jets are giving up that much draft capital to move behind TWO QB needy teams? No matter who they're targeting, he might not be there. So the jets are basically saying, "we'll take the best QB available."?

The only way this makes sense to me is if they have their eyes on a couple players and know one will be there and they're comfortable no matter who it is--possibly not even a QB

Another off season head scratcher.

Ehh this seems like the Jets know what the Browns and Giants will likely do. Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen 1,2. Probably did their scouting on Josh Allen enough to make this move.

As for the picks they supposedly gave up, I honestly think draft picks are worthless these days. Rookie contracts being cheap AF relieves some of the pressure on teams from HAVING to get that pick right. If they don't pan out...fuck it and move on. Probably why Les spent a second on Sammy Watkins and didn't seem mind losing him. Besides, look at how many 2nd rounders just don't pan out. Picks just make you look better on paper, but chances are the majority won't be on the team in 3 years.

It makes sense if the Jets highly value three QBs. Especially with the Giants possibly not taking a QB at #2.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. We already know Goff and McVay are a great match together. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and nobody will beat you up for it, but Rosen isn't a possibility for us.
