Yeah, and just for that is a huge reason to why he can F off and stay in New York.

Yep JJ has his issues but when the Trumaine Johnson's near 17 million a yr salary departs looking for even more millions here in a few months.....JJ's 13 million a yr salary might look good in 2018/2019/2020 on this Rams team with only Kayvon Webster under contract. . At lest JJ has the hands to snag a INT more than our current bunch does.

It may be evident that the Wade "D" scheme might fit him better after-all.

I just don't think he meets the character requirement that McVay wants.

Fisher went with "athletes" above character... I think McVay goes the other way (regardless of how talented the player appears to be, he has to be a positive force in the locker room).

Massachusetts, Giant fan, in Nor Cal......3 for 3 on the Dbag checklist.
I think we should make a different forum section here. But thats my opinion. Would keep all the bs popping up over and over again In the other forums.

It is a total crap show in NY. You should hear the nonsense McAdoo is peddling to the media. Jenkins is one of many who don’t respect Spags or Mac.
I hope they cut him and we pick him up. They can sign Tru in the off season. :)

HEY! what did I do???:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Trujo is a #1 cb and honestly the second or third best player on our defense. He's tall with long arms, plays the ball well in the air and catches the ball. Our defense would be a lot worse without him on the team.

JJ is good too but doesn't not match well against bigger defenders. They were a great one, two punch. Too bad we can't afford them.

If Denver could afford to pay Aqib Talib and Chris Harris AND pay Von Miller... we could have afforded JJ and TruJo AND pay AD.

and it's not like we have a franchise QB salary atm... it's coming, but we don't have it now.

One might say that he is after four pillar athletes.

Not so sure I would use Denver as an example this season Mack?

But we sure are dishing out some big contract $$$ next yr 2018. Over 34 million alone in 3 LB'ers. I sure have read a ton of posts in here saying we have some weak issues @ LB'ing too.

OLB Robert Quinn $12.4 million
LT Andrew Whitworth $12.2 mil
ILB Alec Ogletree 11.6 mil
DE Michael Brockers 10.8
ILB Mark Barron 10 mil
RB Tavon Austin 8 mil
WR Robert Woods 8mil
QB Jared Goff 7.6 mil
LG Rodger Saffold 7.5 mil.

Well, I don't think there's a better trio of CBs in the league than Talib, Harris and Roby. The point was that if they'd hit on the Osweiler or Lynch picks at QB, then they'd likely be a top team in the NFL. Hard to underestimate how badly that offense is affecting the D. Plus, word is that HC Vance Joseph has lost the locker room. Not as badly as McAdoo, but when you have guys like Talib spending practice having serious discussions out in the open with Elway... I fully expect a coaching change in Denver this year. I wasn't evaluating the team, just illustrating that a team CAN pay two of the best CBs in the game (even in light of that total crapshow between Talib and Crabtree) AND pay a transcendent talent like Von Miller.

Point is we can afford to sign Tru AND either JJ if he is released or Malcolm Butler AND sign AD to his massive contract.

Yeah, I can't see us spending this money on Quinn or Austin.

All the other contracts seem legit to me, even Saffold because he can be a legit LT in a pinch.

Barron is balling out and is making replacing him very difficult. By the numbers and eye test, he's really playing well. Tree is also playing well, but having two ILBs light in the seat mean we need a MASSIVE NT to keep them clean. That's a reason I'm sad Da'Ron Payne will be long gone by the time we draft in the late 20s or later...

Whitworth is honestly a steal. Woods is cheap at that price, honestly as is Goff.

The only contracts I don't like are Quinn and Austin. And yeah, we got a lot of money tied up in LB. We also aren't accounting for replacing Barwin since he's UFA next season. I think we may go with Ebukam or draft pick depending on how the draft and OTAs and training camp play out.

Oh, and I expect Donald to get paid this off-season...UNLESS what he wants is a 3 year opt-out. I don't think the Rams will entertain that and I suspect that based on other team's reaction to it (and how it's burned other teams) that it's really the only "detail" that would deride the negotiations since the Rams actually like to front-load contracts for players they trust, which plays into a team's favor.

Could be and this regime has done an amazing job of purging the roster of such malcontents, however, Jenkins can flat out cover and with Johnson most likely leaving, Rams going to need a CB....Not that the Giants will release Jenkins anyway.

With the turnaround of this teams winning attitude and arrow pointing up. Why is it still a foregone conclusion on this forum that Trumaine is eager to escape from LA?

They sure can be hit-or-miss.

I attribute it to Quinn and Barwin being past their prime and just literally being forced to take plays off.

Our two inside guys seem to be kind of hit and miss because they are a little confused still on their assignments.

Outside linebackers are a need and we will probably pick up a couple in the first four rounds next year I would imagine to go with Longacre and the two draft picks Price and Ebukam.

A little more talent at OLB to go with the return of Price and another camp from Ebukam.

Quinn and Barwin won't be getting an invite to Camp next year, IMO.

Quinn because his production isn't consistently matching his pay.

Barwin because he'll be a year older and a year more inconsistent. Time to retire.

I guarantee he's going to have to take a pay cut if he wants to stay. :D

I mean good grief!
He's good but he's not 18-19 million a year good.

the difference with the Rams and Broncos situation though is the Rams have a lot of money tied up in MLBs, and hopefully a sizable contract coming for a safety (joyner) while the Broncos have much less invested in their MLBs and safeties. Im a big fan of having 2 really good CBs, but realistically the Rams arent in a position to afford that, but thankfully up until this point that hasnt really been a need to be successful anyway, while you could argue that the Broncos secondary was the biggest reason they were so dominate as a defense the year they won the SB

Because of money. He is still going to want to get paid and the conversation is going To start at 40 million. Don’t forget it’s another team in LA that he can go too

After spending $30.mil on TruJo in two years time and him showing a PFF rating at #85 overall out of 118 total graded CB's, i've got to believe upper management is wondering how they might have better spent their money. Rams should have cut bait and signed AJ Bouye as so many of us had hoped.

Exactly my point. He is good but is there a team willing to pay him 18 million a year? Plus he just banked a ton of cash. He could think that sticking with a team on the rise for a little less is worth a pay cut.

I wanted Bouye too but that is water under the bridge. Is that #85 grade this year or last? He seems to be playing quite a bit better than that this year. Maybe since he made so much under the tag, and after he finds out his market value, he would sign a reasonable contract with the Rams.

The other team in LA isn't on the same trajectory as the Rams right now, nor does it have the exciting, young head coach and fantasy staff. When I said that maybe he wants to stay in LA I meant, with a fun and suddenly very successful Rams team.
