It’s always unfortunate to see a guy lose his spot and get cut, but the Rams really did all they could here. They overextended their faith in Xavier after what happened against Seattle last year and gave him every chance to hold onto the job. it's clear that this may be a mental issue like the yips. At the end of the day, I love that management is treating this with urgency. This should serve as a wake-up call to the ST coach and the rest of the players that this team will make hard decisions when there is poor performance. I have faith that Connors or whoever they give the job will step up with that added pressure to perform. Next man up! GO RAMS!

Tutu was tried as a returner his rookie year and looked uncomfortable and then got injured.

IMO Tutu didn't look very promising in that role
Yeah to do returns you need to have good hands first and foremost, so you don't flub a live ball. Then you need good ball security with the ball in your hands when taking the occasional hit right after catching it. And then you need to be smart and make quick decisions, so that you don't fuck your team over. Only if you can check those three boxes do you get to the athleticism group part and whether you can add something in terms of turning a seam into points.

He has the raw speed and agility you want. But the other shit meh.

Also isn't it great that we brought Tutu back so he can jerk off on the sideline and not contribute to teams for yet another season? Instead of oh I don't know trading for a core special teams type like a gunner or returner.

Just yesterday Ventrone said they have no thought of replacing Xavier, that they "have a lot of trust in X," and that he thinks "he'll be able to do the necessary things to be able to sustain at that position for us."

Thanks for the memories, X, but it's been past time we got someone better.

Now let's fix the blocking (and Ethan Evans has to be a better punter than he's been), and maybe we could actually have a solid ST for once.

I'm sure many of you saw the recent video highlighting the general ineptitude of the special teams unit. I actually came away from that wanting to cut Fiskef#ck, Worthlesston and that Praying Mantis DB whatshisname.

Those guys play with no fire. No toughness. They were being bullied and run through. And it has resulted in a 20-30 yard flip in field position on nearly every punt or kick. Unacceptable.

Bubba may not be the guy either. There are probably 6-8 usefull building blocks on special teams.

Make a couple more moves, McVay.

That was 5 years ago and his rookie year was cut short. That's my point exactly, they had ideas for him, and then stopped. Makes no sense.

Easy on Tutu - he is much loved by many here (not me, necessarily)

Tutu can catch. He gets open. It's more of a Matthew Stafford issue not throwing to him than a Tutu can't getting open.
