@jrry32 Ya, my 1st thought w/ the pick Lewis, is Les hasn't manipulated the draft and I wanted a more sure bet in the 3rd. Hopefully this extra time off to heel his body will end up being a draft steal. thanks for the write up! He is talented can't say otherwise

Someone in the equipment room needs to order a brand new ice tub for Terrell Lewis. Dude barley played the last two years. Can't make the club if your in the tub. I hate this pick. Such a hurt bag
he has a bunch of injuries
Can someone enlighten me? All I see is that he has had two that cost him play time - an elbow followed by an ACL. The ACL is concerning but he came back to play the entire season last year - no? I'm guessing he played more at Bama than he is going to play as a Ram. He likely isn't going to be looked to as an every down type player - certainly not at first anyway. This guy looks like he may be a freak athletically. His 20 year old body probably healed up pretty well.

He got nicked up in 2019 too. And he was clearly playing to protect himself at times in 2019.

Lewis had a hyperextended knee against South Carolina early in 2019. Apparently played through it but still had a pretty good year. From the Alabama team site:

Redshirt Junior (2019)
Selected to the All-SEC second team by the league coaches ... tied for fifth among SEC defenders with 11.5 tackles for loss (-53 yards) ... finished ninth in the conference with six sacks (-40 yards) ... added a team-high 16 quarterback pressures to go with his 31 total tackles ... also contributed two pass breakups and a fumble recovery to his season totals ... selected to the Butkus Award Watch List ... named one of the Alabama coaching staff’s defensive players of the week for his play at Texas A&M and against Tennessee and Arkansas. Duke: Came off the bench to record three total tackles, including a sack (-8 yards) ... provided consistent pressure off the edge to force the Blue Devils into a 12-for-22 day passing that included a pair of interceptions. New Mexico State: Pressured the Aggie quarterback twice and added two tackles, including one for loss (-2 yards) in the home opener. South Carolina: Totaled a team-high two quarterback pressures to go with one tackle for loss (-5 yards). Ole Miss: Notched his second sack of the season (-5 yards) and added a pass breakup in the matchup with the Rebels. Texas A&M: Led all Tide defenders with a career-high two sacks (-7 yards), part of his three tackles on the afternoon ... added a pair of quarterback pressures and was credited with five hurries by the Tide coaching staff ... earned defensive player of the week accolades from the UA coaches for his play in College Station. Tennessee: Selected as a defensive player of the week by the Alabama coaches for his career day against the Vols ... totaled seven tackles, including three for loss (-21 yards) and two sacks (-20) ... provided pressure off the edge to help limit the UT offense to only 117 yards passing. Arkansas: Earned defensive player of the week recognition from the UA coaching staff for a second consecutive week after another impressive performance ... affected the Razorback quarterback all night, recording a career-high six quarterback pressure to go with a pass breakup and three total tackles ... played a key role in forcing the Hogs’ passers into an 11-of-26 night that included three interceptions. LSU:Matched his career-high for tackles with seven stops, including half a tackle for loss (-1 yard) ... also pressured the Tigers’ quarterback a team-high three times while adding a fumble recovery that he returned two yards. Mississippi State: Finished with three tackles in Starkville, including one for loss (-3 yards). Western Carolina: Saw time against the Catamounts but did not record any stats. Auburn: Made one stop in the Tiger backfield, forcing a one-yard loss. Michigan: Elected to sit out the Citrus Bowl.

Yes but that was after the Ram provided him a second vastly oversized & highly questionable contract for a team that was going to be bleeding voluminous amounts of salary cap funds well into the near future.

Snead & his team has surely done their jobs on this selection. We all knew this draft was a very poor (n)draft of 34 D ER's. All draft picks are gambles. Rams computed utilizing a 3rd rd pick was the best move for this team. Injuries can be overcome & do on a regular basis Saffold early career was a mess with the Rams, but he overcame them.

ER's usually can have an impact very early in the NFL the Rams need this ER to do just that. His injuries came in 2017 & 2018 now it several years away from those two season ending events. I bet Lewis is ready to exploded on the NFL scene after having his college career smothered & put out by injuries.
So what happend if he lives up to his potential and becomes one of the best linebackers in the league? Do you take the chance AGAIN and sign him what hes worth when the time comes?

When your first pick is in the 50's and a class of edge rushers that is considered weaker than previous ones, your options are limited. To find a guy with first round talent at 84 in the draft is remarkable if you ask me. Sure, he's a risk because of injuries. But the upside could be tremendous if those injuries are no longer a problem. I can say with confidence if he was not an injury risk he woulda gone in the top 20. Well done Rams.

All depends on just how bad the Rams salary cap funds are bleeding out vs other priorities as always.(y);)

This is the way I see it, too.
I'm posting this because I'm jacked that the Rams drafted him, and it seems we're getting all caught up with Akers and Van...but the Lewis selection could be HUGE.

His upside and value where picked is greater than the risk. His injuries sound more like the freak accident things than chronic. The ACL would be the riskiest, but he already played on it for a full season afterwards. Lots' of players have ACL's and it's nowhere the "killer" it once was. When a player has freakish athleticism like his, you would be a fool not to take the "risk" in the 3rd round for that type of talent and physical traits. I would be more concerned if his problems were off the field ... or if he had shown poor judgments either on/off the field, shown he couldn't understand his role/play book, etc.

The potential is exciting and it’s not like he’s coming off injury in 2019.

Sounds like he has room to fill out and build some NFL muscle, which could be interesting.

I see a pattern here. no graybeards or overpriced FAs.
