Was listening to Kiper this morning and he seems to believe that a few of these guys we are talking about will/should stay in school.
They probably should, but I don't think Kiper is considering how the next wave (Manning, Raiola, Holstein, etc) might affect 2025 NFL draft decisions.

Yeah, McShay says the same thing. Thinks most of the guys should go back, but obviously not sure how many will. With the NIL money they can get, some are better off staying.

It's really still too early in the season to tell.
The scrap heap is an option, but ideally getting a kid on a rookie contract would be HUGE in keeping this talent together over the next few years.
So you'd rather have a Jameis Winston? Russell Wilson? Kenny Pickett? Daniel Jones was on a practice squad last year, any team could have claimed him for nothing. How many re-treads fail miserably in their new environment? Most of them
While true, there is also the perils of staying and having draft stock drop like a stone. Look at Allar and Beck. Many thought they could have been first rounders, now forget it. Look at guys like Nussmier, Klubnik and Weigman who were "next year's draft crop" guys who are now mid to late picks (if at all)
There's a lot to be said about who the competition is and how that effects draft slot. And of course with Jaxson Dart balling out teams that need QB are apt to take one

I think he is referring to the guys who have fewer than 15 or 20 career starts. That's my thinking as well. I get it that their stock could drop, but their longterm staying power in the league could suffer if not ready and they and up in a bad spot with little experience.
McShay is big on a stat where college QBs with greater than 30 starts, do much better than those with less. He acknowledges there are exceptions, but the data shows those QBs have a better chance for much longer careers with more succes.

As of now, 4 teams at the top of the draft in need of a QB. Not gonna be easy (please do not read this as impossible) for Rams to grab a QB in this draft irrespective of talent and who's coming out.
There's quite a few QBs who are flying under the radar right now. And this was already a nice deep group to begin with. Now of course maybe some of them stick around longer, but it's feeling to me like this is the year.
And I'm fine with a LT or WR as well of course. Whatever. But the idea of having a QB waiting in the wings like Green Bay has done is very attractive.

Titans are tanking with the plan to put that 1 overall pick up for bidding. It's not a terrible way to go, given that they need a retooling and if they successfully tank and get that 1 overall pick it will be a windfall to do that.
However what is funny is you can try to tank but the players may reach deep down and get you a win or two that you don't want. And there isn't much you can say to that either. Just grin with your teeth clenched as you pretend you're happy about it.

Yes, and if the plan is to be able to sit a QB behind Stafford or say Jimmy then that expands Rams flexibility in who and when they take a QB in the next draft.

Titan's could get a windfall, I believe there's at least one other team besides us (Browns) that have more than one 1st round pick to play with next year in their search for a QB.
If this projection holds true we should try to trade a 2026 1st or 2nd for a 2027 1st. Unless we can pry a Vet Quarterback currently playing and established for the two '26 1st Rounders.
Most likely, give Stafford 2 years (what he wants) this offseason and kick the can down the road. I would still consider taking a flyer on an Allar, or some other darkhorse in the 2nd or 3rd Round .
With all those other teams in need of a QB and drafting higher than the Rams, we won't get a "perceived" stud. But we might still draft a QB from the 2nd down. Or maybe not. Maybe like you say, parlay one of those firsts into a 2026 3rd or 4th and a 2027 1st. Then grab one high in 27.
Allar sucks. Disagree on kicking the can. Unless almost all these guys go back to school, this is a good year to do it. People want the perfect prospect. But the reality is that even if there were that guy, we wouldn't be in position to draft him. There are some very talented QBs who have a chance to be on the board in 8-15 range in this draft (depending on who declares). That's perfect for us. This is not at all a bad class. No guarantee next year's class is better or if it is, that we're in a better spot to pursue a QB. (For example, doesn't do us a lot of good if there are three elite prospects in next year's class if we're not able to draft one of the three.)
