NDSU is becoming quite a QB hotbed, Wentz, Lance, Stick, Cam and the kid before Wentz who previously held all the passing records. Cant remember his name. I know its just highlights but dang this Payton kid has wheels.
Looks like he has the full package. Wonder about his processing though. Can he run a high volume offense.

I could see him shooting up the boards too. I mean look at Richardson, who was a joke that high. Teams fuckin worship upside.

Kyler Murray will be available next season…

iu
We should suspend your board privileges for a day for daring to suggesting that.

McShays latest on the QBs... mid season review.

He has Moore & Sellers as 1A & 1B... followed by... 3. Simpson, 4. Mendoza, 5. Nussmier, 6. Matteer, 7. Beck, 8. Klubnik, 9. Robertson, 10. Allar. He considers the first 6 as the potential first rounders. Feels Matteer's Texas game could be one he regrets playing in. How he plays from here on out, regarding his recovery from the injury, will obviously be huge for his draft stock.

He acknowledges many may & should return to school. If that happens, 27' will be the QB draft that will be one of the best.

And how many of those guys are worth a damn and have dobe anything in the NFL outside of Wentz and his odd career?

I will go on the record early and say,
John Matteer mid to late first
. I like him mostly because of his competitive nature and frenetic play style. Reminds me of Baker Mayfield.

Being on an NFL roster says a lot, its pretty impressive that any school can boast that they have 4 QB on an NFL roster. Even more so when we are talking about D1-aa school

You never know what to expect from players in college. Some come out when they shouldn't. Others decide to stay when they should come out (Drew Allar).
I think its an interesting conflict for QB's. Being that first QB taken is a disaster much of the time, going to a "can't get right" organization like the Jets, Browns, or Panthers instead of maybe leaving a bit early and learning under a better, more QB friendly team that's drafting outside of the top 5.

And having said what I said, I would have no problem with the Rams drafting a QB later who has a lot of tools, but is very raw. Especially if Stafford is back next year. I would lean more towards a Sawyer Robertson who maybe could be there in the 4th or 5th, just due to him playing at a higher level of competition.

I wouldnt be opposed to drafting a qb round 1 AND in later rounds. Another RGIII/Cousins set up
So much will happen between now and the draft, who knows what the board will look like. My only thinking is that this may be their best chance to get a top prospect with the draft collateral they have.
I really like Mateer and Mendoza

Such a joke to even think like that with The QB’s The Rams have right now. That just me though & I’m sure we’ll that they don’t go that direction either.

Still think Mendoza ends up going too high for us. Chances are we're looking at the dudes like Mateer. The ones who are not the belles of the draft ball.

Next year's draft is always the one to look forward to at QB. But this time next year all those guys will be seen a bit differently based on shit that happens to them and how they handle it.

Bottom line is which QB coming out in 2026 has the following:

1. Intense competitor spirit.
2. Enough arm to stretch it for McVay.
3. Ability to handle a high volume pass game.

There's gonna be options who check the basic boxes. So take one of them.

Yeah I think too many of these kids listen to these fucking agents who are all about how high they go off the board, so they can get their cut.

But when you think about it the most important thing is what staff and system you end up being drafted by. Now some QBs are so talented that they're gonna elevate whatever offense they go to. But for the rest of these guys it matters a great deal. So if I were a QB coming out who is a potential top pick I'd tell the teams I detest that I'll sit out the year if they take me. And then I'd stick to my word by travelling the world for a year or staying around like a Van Wilder and partying while I'm supposedly "working on my masters."

Now some would think I'm crazy for that. But even worst case if you end up as a UDFA QB you can pick your location and live modestly while you're studying film and learning the ropes. Then when your chance comes be ready to go.

Will be really interested in watching Jayden Maiava this weekend against Notre Dame. He is much improved from last season, although he does have a demon out there at WR and another very good option.

Agree, he will be the target of the QB needy teams. Him and Moore, if Moore comes out. So it will come down to if the Titans hold a pick that can get a top guy, do you overpay to land that pick (assuming the Titans stick with Ward) to select Mendoza or Moore or Sellers?

Or take Matteer or Nussmeier or even Beck later in rd 1?

Or do you settle for guys like Klubnick or Robertson later?

He definitely could be a wildcard if he continues to play well and comes out.

This I think. And I would add the NDSU kid to that list as well. I think he's a mid to late first round pick though if he were to wow on his pro day and workout teams will reach for him. Teams are simply insane over QB potential. Everyone wants the next super athlete QB.

Im starting to like the idea of Local USC pick Maiava. We can avoid the 2-pick trade up. With Falcons pick (15-22) take BPA. With our pick (20-32) take Maiava.

Of course i also like the idea of packaging picks to get Mendoza.

BTW, what's with some of these college players essentially wearing shorts to play football? Looks absurd and I can't believe that the NCAA doesn't implement a dress code or jersey code for gameday.
