I would absolutely love to see SJ with this offense. He was a one man wrecking crew - LITERALLY! I always wanted to see SJ run with even a decent offense around him. With this passing game, O-line, and KW spelling him? Fuhgettaboutit. I really think this offense would be unstoppable. And you would have both quick strike capability as well as just being able to beat the living shit out of defenses like the Whiners.

No idea. The Catawba Claw was before my time.

Harold Jackson was about 20 years before Flipper Anderson, so different periods in the NFL. However, thought Jackson was outstanding for a long period of time; and Anderson was very good for a shorter period of time.

Just went back to take a look at some stats; and Jackson had 13 straight productive seasons, to Anderson's six.
Jackson was only 5’-10” 175lbs he claims to have had 4.3 speed

Flipper was 6’-0” 175 lbs Ran a 4.45

I guess neither fits that tall physical jump ball profile to help in the red zone, that the Rams seem to have wanted this offseason.

Maybe I should change my answer.

For me Big Whit or Orlando Pace in their prime.

Probably a position of need and the biggest upgrade? London Fletcher on this current roster rounds it out and makes that front 7 pretty fucking tough.

Greedily? SJ39 like others have said.

Imagine a Faulk with McVay? Think SJ would have respect like Faulk has being in a McVay's offense not the 4 Pillars Offense.:eyeroll:

I thought you were talking about a deep threat to stretch the field.

If you want a Red Zone, jump-ball guy, how about Bernie Casey? Figure he learned a few things playing with R.C. Owens.

Everyone is mentioning running backs, linebackers, and offensive lineman. I actually think we’re set at those positions. Yes they’d be upgrades but do we really NEED upgrades there?

Give me Big Game.

Holt, Kupp, Nacua?

Sheesh.

Pace seems like the best upgrade at a position that could make the offense even more dangerous.

Fletcher in the middle of this defense would make everyone else better,

Cromwell on the back end would be fun to watch.

I’d take Bruce over any of the other WRs mentioned.

Isiah "Butch" Robertson. He would be a great defensive fit at LBer with Jones. Sure there are so many great Ram players that can be named. Butch was great at a 2024 Ram need. For those who don't know much about him read his wiki.

Robertson combined size, strength, quickness, speed, toughness, and a knack for making the game-breaking play. The 6'3" star was one of the NFL's fastest linebackers of his era, having been timed at 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Too far back for me. Let’s just hope Davis Allen can turn into that guy

Didn't some whiner dude break his arm trying to tackle SJ39 ?!?!!!!
I'd go with SJ39 just for a repeat of that!!!
It was their CB Rumph, bent his forearm around SJ thigh, was pretty cool to watch.

There was a three year period when Marshall had almost a 1000 yards receiving and 1300+ yards rushing. Don't believe Gurley ever did that.
Key words: "in their prime, and, "added to this team".

Gurley was the primary focus of the defense on the teams he played on. Teams that, BTW, weren't anywhere close to the GSOT offenses, talent-wise.

Not saying he could have accomplished what Marshall did in the years you mentioned, and never won an MVP to boot. How many could? But he could take over games and helped make the rest of the team better in the process.

Think of what Kyren was able to do last season, then plug in a runner that was better in every way.

That said, I don't think there is a correct answer. Just about every player mentioned could be a viable option. For me, I would add Gurley in his prime and enjoy watching what he could do with where this team is in 2024.

For me, Faulk was the best weapon at RB that the Rams have ever had and it's not really close.

Faulk by a large margin. Running, receiving, blocking. As much as I would like to see SJ on a good team. Or Pace fill out the Oline, Faulk would have the biggest effect on the Offense of any player in Rams history. which of course would make the D's job easier.

He was good but man I just can't get out of my mind the time he got steamrolled by Earl Campbell.

They still show replays of that play when anyone brings up Earl Campbell.

The obvious answer would be AD. He is probably the greatest Ram ever.

My personal choice would be Marshall Faulk. He is my favorite ever and I can’t imagine how unstoppable he would be with McVay in this offense. Oh I wish!
