What is also mind boggling is why the OC did not call the same play to start the OT. Vikings proved they could not stop the play, it would made sense to call it again... Instead the called play is a run in a game where Gurley did not had a hole all game long, in a game where the make-shift OL was clearly overmatched in the run game.
I think they ran that same play on the deep ball Britt had. So if they ran it again that would be 3 times. I think at that point an O is risking the D catching on and turning that into a turn over.

That is one way of viewing. Another is mine, saying that Vikings proved that they could not stop it. So why not go to that play again. The OL was overmatched all game, Gurley had no where to run. I can understand trying to establish the run game, during the regular time, but not in OT.

For all his faults and misses, Foles was at his best going deep. I would definitely called a deep ball on that 1st play in OT.

Yes. Donnal clearly was at Guard and Reynolds didn't look as good at ORT. I think they should have taken their chances in the second half with Williams at ORT and Reyolds back to Guard. Why they thought that running lanes would be there in OT is mind boggling. This offense is crippled without the passing. Overreliance on the run was a poor decision against Minnesota. I recall the Seattle game where the Rams threw the ball successfully and Foles looked very good. What happened to those plays and that QB? Did the Green Bay game ruin Foles and put him into a shell? Or did Fisher us that game to shut Nick down mentally and cause him to go ultra conservative? Who knows but he hasn't looked good since.

They didn't use that play in the second half. They could have taken a shot on the first play and catch them off guard. They pounded the ball the whole second half. Sometimes thinking outside the box is a good strategy. Do something you don't usually do. Fisher plays it safe the longer the game goes on. This was the perfect time to go against the grain and do something big.
