Time for the D line to step up and provide relentless heat on the QB starting this week. I also wouldn't be surprised if you see more 3 Safety looks with Christian instead of going to 3 CBs for certain packages. Troy Hill is gonna have to step up as well.

Predict the score contest - week 4

We had 38 players participate in the Week 3 Predict the Score Contest. Congratulations to doowhap, the only person to pick the Bills over the Vikings with a guess of 27-20 Bills, off by 14 points of the actual final score of 27-6 Bills. The next closest guesses were off by 31 points so that tells you what a shocker yesterdays game was to most of us.

The Vikings (1-1-1) travel to LA to take on the Rams (3-0) on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff is at 7:20 CST and the game will be carried on Fox and the NFL Network. Please reply with your guess of the final score by kickoff. You can click on the image below to see the results of week 3 and the averages for those who have played multiple weeks.

Not much else to say. The Rams are looking like one of the best team in the NFL and the Vikings' ship is taking on water at an alarming rate. A respectable showing by the Vikings on the road may ease some of "the sky is falling" thoughts amongst the fanbase.

Vikings 24
Rams 31

Thanks for playing,

Rams Overcome Injuries, but Depth Will be Tested vs. Minnesota
Myles Simmons
https://www.therams.com/news/rams-overcome-injuries-but-depth-will-be-tested-vs-minnesota

Injuries are never ideal, but they’re a part of football. And the Rams had to deal with plenty on Sunday during their 35-23 victory over the Chargers. The club was able to absorb significant blows and still win. But the injuries will likely have an effect on at least the next game — especially because the Rams will take on the Vikings this Thursday night.

Both starting cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib both left the game and did not return, and head coach Sean McVay said they each sustained an ankle injury. Outside linebacker Dominque Easley left the game with a knee injury, though he did return. And returner JoJo Natson — filling in for injured All-Pro returner Pharoh Cooper — suffered a broken hand and may require surgery.

“We lost some guys today,” McVay said postgame. “Aqib and Marcus — it’s their ankle. Not exactly sure the extent of that. Dominique Easley got his knee got his knee as well — came back in, didn’t feel great. If those guys aren’t able to go it’s going to be some big voids that we’ve got to be ready to fill and step up for a short week, Thursday, against a great team in the Minnesota Vikings coming here.”

In Sunday’s game, a combination of corners Sam Shields, Nickell Robey-Coleman, and Troy Hill were used to replace Peters and Talib. Peters went down in the second quarter, and Shields stepped in for him. When Talib limped of the field during the second half, it appeared the Rams used Robey-Coleman on the outside during early downs, then shifted him back to the slot with Hill covering the outside when the club went to its nickel or dime package.Should both Peters and Talib be out for Sunday, McVay said the starters will likely be dictated by situations.

“Those will be things that we’ll decide and we’ll find out once of the specific nature of the injuries and if they are for sure ruled out," McVay said. "But, fortunately, [cornerbacks] coach [Aubrey] Pleasant does a good job of getting all those guys ready to go. Sam got a chance to play a lot today. We know how much Robey’s played in a lot of our sub packages. And then Troy Hill, when you go back to last year, he’s played good football for us. So if those guys are called to step up in a short week, then we have confidence they’ll be ready to go.”

Though the Rams’ top two corners were out, defensive signal-caller Cory Littleton said not too much changed for the unit as a whole. “We have backups for every player on this team, and we believe in every one of them,” Littleton said. “We go in with the same game plan no matter who’s here.” The Rams held the Chargers to 23 points and 16 first downs with 356 yards on 42 plays.

Though the Rams' offense kept pressure on the Chargers defense all day, quarterback Jared Goff said the O didn't do anything special due to the injuries. The quarterback said he knew Peters was out because play stopped and he saw it. But there was no added pressure on the offense once Talib went down, too, because the quarterback said he only found out about Talib’s absence at the end of the game. “It’s good that I don’t know, that we don’t kind of realize until the end," Goff said. "Marcus and Aqib are incredible players who we love and want to have out there again soon. But it’s good to see guys set up — guys like Sam and other guys who step into that role and are able to fill in nicely.”

The Natson injury is particularly significant because it means Los Angeles once again has to find another returner. The Chargers did not punt once Natson had gone down, but if they had wide receiver Cooper Kupp likely would've fielded the kick. Safety Blake Countess, however, took back the Chargers’ kickoffs — taking one for 26 yards and another for 25.

At this point, it’s unclear what direction the Rams will turn for their returner in Week 4 against the Vikings. With Easley, Los Angeles was able to rotate in outside linebackers Samson Ebukam and Matt Longacre, with lineman John Franklin-Myers also appearing on passing downs. As with every team, when injuries occur the motto is “next man up.” And that’s exactly what running back Todd Gurley said after the game, as players were already going through the recovery process in the locker room for Thursday Night Football.

“It’s the same stuff every year. Guys are going to get hurt. That’s the thing about now — you kind of want to win these games early. You don’t want to be catching up at the end because, unfortunately, injuries are a part of the game,” Gurley said. “But at the end of the day, one man [goes] down, the next man has to step up. That’s why we play this game. And it’s not like we’re the only ones hurt — there’s people on the Vikings, people on every team’s hurt. So you kind kind of have to deal with it.”

Im not going to cry over a loss to the Vikings. They are the toughest game on our schedule in my book.

Down Talib and Peters and legatron and any firepower at punt returner.

I would be happy if we just found a way to squeak in a win.

This needs to be a game where Donald takes over.

Then its Seattle, Denver and SF.

we should be 6-1 or 7-0 by the GB game.

Agreed. This game is an extremely bad matchup for us at this place and time. With our starting CBs we'd beat them, I am confident of that. But now we have them coming in for a prime time game vs our depth CBs and the Vikes are pi$$ed off and desperate to show that their terrible offensive showing last week wasn't them.

And the worst thing here is their defense hasn't looked like their normal selves, they've been struggling, but they are good at slowing a passing game and will be able to put some pressure on Boom.

IMO this should be a shootout type game. From there who knows and that worries me.

I'm not sure it'll be a shootout in the sense that it's a 42-37 or 35-33 type of game. I don't think the Vikings can get there.

I don't think it's a terrible matchup but it isn't ideal. If this were the Saints, Packers or Chiefs game I'd say the Rams are in big trouble. But the Vikings won't be able to take full advantage of a dinged up secondary because of their dinged up OL, especially the interior.

I think we are going to see the Rams score some points because the Vikings defense is not like it was last year for some reason. I can see the Rams scoring 30 again. But as I said I don't think the Vikings can.

Hey bro I was just trying to help! Lol Not trying to steal your thunder!!! Lol

A couple of things: first of all notice the (y) at the end of my post. That's a thumbs up which means I'm fine with it. There's no thunder to be lost. In fact, you or anyone else here can do them every week. As I mentioned earlier, I have real life stuff going on that needs my attention.

Secondly, never give a chill or an inappropriate to a mod. We do way too much work here for free to have to put up with that.

If you have any other questions or comments send me a pm.

Reports from some Vikings fans is they could have two rookies starting at CB one an udfa.

If we had a healthy squad I would be much more comfortable in this game, hopefully the depth can step up, because that'll give us a nice chance to take a breather until the Seahawks. I want to win at least 3 out of 4 during each quarter of the season, so we're already there for the first quarter, it'll be nice to bank another one though for this road stretch we're going on after Thursday.

Hope you're right. I expect the Vikes to put up high 20s or better. Their wideouts are gonna feast IMO. But yeah, if there ever was a time for our vaunted DL to take over a game it's this one. Got my fingers crossed and I'm hoping, of course, just don't like the matchup so we'll see.

Yes but one of those two rookie CBs (Hughes) can flat out ball and is better than most CBs you're going to face already. So they're basically down one starting CB. Against the Rams that's a big deal, too, so hopefully we'll see them take advantage with Woods & Kupp feasting (I presume Hughes will draw Cooks for the most part).

We have scored 33-34-35 points in three weeks and the teams played have gotten better if not same with first two. Raiders traveled to hot & humid Miami East coast early & gave them all they could handle & won on a trick play. I fully believe we will need a totally explosive offense that NEVER punts & doesn't need Field Goals. We need Time of possession like we held in first half yesterday. Chargers are as good a team as the vikes are. Glad the Chargers were missing there top DE. Our OL did not have their best game . Havenstein had a couple whiffs & Whitworth needs to dominate ALL game long Thursday.

Peters was beat for a TD yesterday. WE need a more time consuming offense to keep our D more fresh. We Play up tempo a lot trying to get mis-matches & hope to wear a D out in the 4TH quarter. This gameplan will need to hold nothing back on offense as the vikes have a tough to cover TE in Rudolph & 3 very, very good WR's & Cookie at RB from FSU can be up or down but is best as a screen catcher & our LB's our still not caught up to speed as well as our FSU safety not playing as well as he did last season early.#20 is taking bad angles & not tackling well so far this season.

A TGIII led game plan with Brown subbing and giving good OL play & no field goals as we will score our usual 30-38 points and we beat the vikes as our D without Berry & Talib can hold vikes to 4 TD's. This will be a shootout with middle defensive pressure & better LB play & tackling & we go 4-0. Elevated play by RAMS to cover for healing CB's we need for SB with the Chiefs. Sorry so long. Goff will have a career game with great OL play to lead RAMS to victory.Cooks will go off too. #1 D as of 3 games. No more injuries & pray for quick healing & a Barron return soon at LB. Then we get Greg Z. back and we go lights out. Last 3 times RAMS went 3-0 was 1985 NFC Championship Dieter Brock & ED against SB shuffle Bears & then two Super Bowls in 1999 & 2001. Super Bowl in Atlanta has our name all over it again.

Three paragraphs is not long, grasshopper.

Take a seat. Have some tea. Let me share with you the secrets of the never-ending post...

I think we win this game with Talib and Peters. Without them we can still win but it's a lot closer now. If Whitworth is out also it starts to get dicey.

Because we are still licking our wounds from the Bills games. Don't be surprised if the Bills take out Green Bay next Sunday. They are much better team than the score of their first two games shows. In their last 6 quarters they have held Cousins and Rivers to 9 total points.

Yes, I google (insert team's name here) forums, their Twitter account, and then check You Tube. I also google "Rams vs whoever the team is" for any stories.

Btw it would have been wise to first consult @RhodyRams before posting the score predictions of the week. Unlike yours truly, he might actually care.
