Gotta love fans we've seen this 3 weeks in a row now.

"All we have to do is stack the box and contain Cooks"

Oh yeah that's easy to do good luck with that.

Nice take coconuts. I did 2 yrs at Ft Lewis. 864th Combat Engr Bn. attached to Delta Force. Spent 11 months in Honduras supporting Ollie North and his boys in '82-'83.

It's like Peters and Talib don't exist to these guys lol. QBs don't try to throw to WRs on us bc they can't. And Peters is so underrated. The other team is literally scared to throw his way. That tells me he's one of if not the best CBs in the league.

Eventually these other team fans will realize our D is all around the best not just run D on the DL. This will be our toughest matchup though for sure. Can't wait. I think Rivers opens the interception gates.

Chargers vs. Rams Pre-Game Party Thread

Still the traders made em look pretty pedestrian in the first half of their game.I personally think watching Goff that the key to victory is puttin pressure on him.Can we do that successfully? We will see.
----------------
I guess one of the advantages we have against this defense is familiarity with Wade. He has tendencies that we can certainly try to exploit and the defense as a whole is weak at middle linebackers and edge rushers. I would certainly try to run on the perimeter more and exploit the middle of the field with throws to RBs and TEs. This is one of those games where we need to make up for the loss of HH. Maybe have two RB sets with both Gordon and Ekeler on the field.

Sean McVay is a little harder to guess but if you go by last year's film, he seems to be pass heavy when falling behind in a game and ignored Gurley. All of their losses last year has happened because of this. I'm also curious about their loss to the Falcons last year in PO since Quinn's defense is similar to Bradley's.
---------------
Upon rewatching vs Bills in Condensed Slo Mo Stop Action,

I am convinced that our offense is capable of staying with LAR.

No one should be prepared to presume that the LAR defense is far superior to our young, up and comers.

It will depend how the game plays out, and may come down to Rivers vs Goff.
-------------
Looking forward to this with serious trepidation. It's the perfect stage to say "we have arrived....look out" or "were not ready for this..."

Which team do we get????
-------------
As stated elsewhere, Rams vs Falcons 1.6.18 NFCDiv Playoff game is our template, X Man.

We are not dissimilar to ATL.

Balanced offense.
Several sacks of Goff.
Otherwise you are "Cooked."
-----------
One more thing, PR you should probably stay away from Marcus Peters
-----------
This will be the game that either embarrasses our coaches or could be the challenge chargers are looking for.
-----------

------------
Gurley's avg in '18 is 20 carries for 75 yds and 1.5 TDs.
If the Chargers can hold him to that avg or less while not allowing LAR's passing game to go wild, LAC should make it a good contest.

I just hope Rivers can successfully fight the compulsion to throw the ball to Peters.
-----------
We've got some talent & weapons for sure, I don't know how we match up across the board as I don't follow the Rams, I think if the Chargers play a solid game with limited miscues, penalty's, turnovers we've got a real chance.
-----------
Rams haven't beaten anyone this season, yet we have no chance.

It's the same Chargers logic that says we suck because we were competitive in a Chiefs game where we handed them the game and very easily could have won and blew out Buffalo.

Got it. Makes perfect sense.

Do I think the Rams will come to play? Yes they will. But they aren't out of our league. Not even close.
------------
No way.I think we come out and hit em right in the mouth!I think we match their intensity and show them we actually arent just preseason hype.Just gotta feelin we come out swingin this go around.
-----------
That we aren't in the nfl's elite zip code or even close. If people can't tell that after watching this D, special teams and our coaching, someone needs to take off their rose color glasses. We will probably finish 3rd in our division, all hype and no execution will be the way this year will be remembered !

I just call it the way I see it, I don't get blinded by being a fan of this team. I look at the execution of players, teams and coaching of teams to come up with my results from all equations, not hype like a lot of people posting on this board, we'll see what happens. I say we don't even come close to the playoffs.

So after looking at one of - if not THE - worst teams in the league, he thinks the Chargers offense is up to staying with the Rams?

Umm, okay.

"Listen guys, if we stop Gurley and make them pass, we can give 11 yards per attempt to Jared Goff and lose by a lot."

"All we have to do is follow the Atlanta template. Sure, Atlanta played them before they added three All Pros to their defense and didn't start to run away with the game until Michael Brockers' injury crippled their already bad run defense, but all we have to do is play the 2017 Rams without Brockers and follow the Atlanta template. We got this."

"Hey, we're good. The Rams beat two bad teams. Pressure Jared Goff, and we'll win. Unless they continue to protect him well and he completes a bunch of passes with pressure in his face again."

Preseason is officially over. Chargers will be a tough 60 minutes of football litmus test.
I'm with you. Rivers also is amazing when the game is on the line in the 4th. Give him 1 minute remaining and the ball on the 25 and he somehow finds a way to move the chains. They have had more games recently won or lost by a FG with time running out. I'll see you guys there for the showdown in Tinseltown! Can't wait!

So the team that gave up 20 points to the Bills are saying we haven't beaten anybody? They lost to the putrid KC defense by more than they beat the putrid Buffalo roster and we haven't beaten anybody? I'm sensing a pot and kettle scenario here.

That said I think they have a damn good roster, not sure I like their coaching compared to ours. We are much healthier than them at this point in the season. All we can hope for is their players take the Rams as much for granted as their fans seem to. Most of us seem to expect a good game but they have some notion that we feel we're far superior to them, not sure where that's coming from hell the spread is only what 5.5?

Los Angeles Chargers: How they have a shot to upset the Rams
by Tyler Schoon
https://nflspinzone.com/2018/09/18/los-angeles-chargers-how-upset-rams-week-3/

.........The Rams haven’t faced true adversity this season

........"The Rams deserve all the credit for finishing games strong and annihilating teams on the score board. However, there is something to be said about the lack of difficult opponents they’ve faced, having beaten two (now) 0-2 teams with severely depleted rosters.".......

....."Everyone’s picking them as the favorite (oddsmakers have them as seven-point favorites), they’re loved by every analyst, and they have no reason to believe they’ll fall to the Chargers this week. And that’s where the Bolts light them up.".......

........Attacking the linebackers
"For all the Rams’ strengths on the defensive line and corner groups, the linebacker position remains an overlooked area of need by the team. With starting linebacker Mark Barron either out or limited in Week 3, the Chargers have a chance to find quick-hitting mismatches against a soft middle."

......."This is an area where Hunter Henry would have shined, as his sure hands and crafty routes would move the chains quite a bit in this game. However, the Chargers have weapons to spare, and playmakers who are good across the middle":........

....."Against the Oakland Raiders, Goff looked a bit distressed when the Silver and Black came after him with different pass rushers. The Raiders, even without Khalil Mack, managed to keep the game 13-10 at the half and entered the locker room with a lead."......

......."it’ll be hard for the Ram’s high-intelligence offense to throw consistently against the Chargers’ strong group of corners."

I want to make sure that I understand this...It will be difficult for the Rams to throw on the Bolts'"strong group of corners", but the San Diego immigrant crew "have weapons to spare"...OUCH... I have a headache suddenly because I can't see any way the Rams can possibly hold up against the Chargers juggernaut !!! What in the hell is Vegas doing, TRYING to lose money ?? Why else would they install the loser Rams as 7 point favorites ?? I'm just stumped by the whole thing...

I just want to say that I don't believe for a millisecond that any of those Chargers fans are military. Hence, why I used the word "apparently." I just didn't want them to come back and all and tried to make a tongue-and-cheek remark.

I sincerely apologize to any veterans here and those who have veterans in their family, if I've offended them.

Don't worry you guys got me, and I've yet to meat a SEAL that scared me. ;)

Plus unless said Ranger/Delta/SF guy was a San Diego native, they're likely full of crap. The nearest post that has those units in it is Fort Lewis, Washington. Any other Rangers would be stationed in Georgia. Everyone thinks they're cool on the internet, but if you ask them a simple question such as "Oh where did you go after BUDS/Q-Course/Infantry School?" they'll very likely stumble because they don't know the correct answer.:p

There were NAVY Seals based in between the Sub Base and Naval Ocean System Center on Point Loma. I'd see them running around while I was in my car headed home for a beer or two on my long three day week end (We only worked two Fridays a month...lol)

......."it’ll be hard for the Ram’s high-intelligence offense to throw consistently against the Chargers’ strong group of corners."

Game 1: vs Chiefs - Mahomes: 15/27 for 256 yds with 4 TD's for 38 points
Game 2: vs Bills - Allen(starting his first pro game): 18/33 245 yds with 1 TD, 2 Int's for 20 points

The real challenge here may be Phillip Rivers and the Chargers offense which has racked up 59 points in its first two games. That said, both the Chiefs and Bills defenses are terrible.

Have to disagree PT..The only Phillip(s) that matters here, is Wade:rockon:

The Chargers have a talented team. This should be a challenge for the Rams.

. These fans think that the Charger O can keep the D in the field and tire them out. The one great equalizer in that equation that always gets overlooked by opposing fans is Johnny Hekker. If San Diego’ Offense dinks and dunks the length of the field, or tries to they will be the ones getting tired.

It is difficult to win a game with long fields and short yardage plays.

Always refreshing to see level headed, reasonable fans.

Rivers is in a different class to either of the QBs the Rams have played so far so Talib and Peters will be tested.

Likewise, the Chargers secondary is pretty handy so Goff will need to be good again.

It's gonna be a really good game.
