The "at 5-6 we're still in the hunt" thing is laughable to me...If 9-6 had even a fleeting chance, then they might have an outside shot..I don't think it does...They seem to miss the fact that if they had to leapfrog a couple ofteams, that would be one thing...The harsh reality for them is that they have at least 4-5 better teams in front of them for a wild card slot...I'm any case if should be a moot point by late afternoon Sunday when the Rams stiick a pin into their balloon...

The greatest risk to not having a legit QB is convincing yourself you can win with backup level players. That way lies madness. Here's hoping the Cards think the same thing you do. ;)
I don't think that way.
I DO think it's a great plan for them.

I'll say this, the Cardinals are better now than the Cardinals we beat 33-0 a few weeks back. But I still think we'll win this game.
I agree. Of course i get to watch them on tv every week and i think they're a little more dangerous now...because they now know how mediocre they are....and they aren't deluding themselves with things like super bowl windows anymore.

Gabbert sucks as a passer but he can move and occasionally make plays happen out of the pocket or with his legs. He won't be as easy to attack as Palmer/Stanton were.

They've also got a young TE who's been making plays since Gabbert got in there. Ricky Seals-Jones. He's actually Eric Dickerson's cousin.

That was a hard fought win over JAX. They gutted it out. They aren't going to roll over for us, that's all i'm saying.

How about "We suck, it's over, and it's time for a team rebuild," or "Please don't break another one of our QB's in half."
I Polled the Rams Defense on this^^ Question, and they reply, to a Man, " No F-ing promises!!!:mrburnsevil:

So I watched Gabberts highlight video from the Jaguar game. Honestly he looked good. But, I think the one thing being I overlooked here is the Rams have Jared Goff and the number one offense in the league. If Gabbert gets into a shootout with the Rams and is forced to throw on a consistent basis, I think the odds of him throwing a pick or two goes up dramatically.
I think the Cards keep it close, but the Rams will end up crushing the Cards playoff hopes for a second time.
I've watched two games with Gabbart and he is playing well overall. Can escape the rush pretty well and throws a good ball. It is foolish to think the only players that can develop wear horns. I know you're not saying that but others saying Gabbart sucked because he didn't play well in SF....time will tell.
I don't think he is great, but, they still have some receiving talent and he can play. So, to me, it still comes down to line play vs these guys. Stop them running the ball and get a pass rush. Don't let their pass rush run wild on us. I expect more of a commitment to the run this week based on the line matchups. We beat them 33-0 last time. I don't expect that again, but, something along the lines of a 28-13 win.
Of course my score predictions have been wildly wrong all year.

61% completion, 498 yards 5 TDs, 3 Ints.....
Not terrible numbers for Gabbart in his two starts.
Vs Houston and Jacksonville Ds.
I think he presents some challenges for the D.
The 5 TDs in two games for an O that was struggling mightily opens the eyes a bit.
I think we need to mix up coverage looks and blitz looks. Make him a little hesitant and he may go back to his old form. That said the Cards have receiving talent still.
Because he can move well I think their O may be better with that line than it was with Palmer in some ways. He doesn't have Palmers talent or experience obviously but he isent a statue either.

Yeah, this won't be a gimmee. Lest we forget, it was Blaine Gabbert at QB with the 49ers in Week 1 of last year when they beat the Rams 28-0.

Good teams beat the teams they're SUPPOSED to beat; the Rams need to take care of business this Sunday.

You could say the same thing happened to Case Keenum under Fisher. Then Keenum becomes a Viking.

Phil Dawson takes NFC special teams player of the week

The Cardinals wouldn’t have had a chance to win last Sunday’s game against the Jaguars in regulation if not for a curious coaching decision by Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone, but they still needed someone to make good on that opportunity.

Enter kicker Phil Dawson. After a couple of completions by Blaine Gabbert, Dawson trotted on the field for a 57-yard field goal try on the final play of the fourth quarter.

Dawson knocked it home, giving the Cardinals a 27-24 win and giving himself a new career-long field goal. It was Dawson’s fourth field goal of the day and that performance was enough for the league to name him the NFC’s special teams player of the week.

Dawson has now won weekly special teams honors with three different teams over the course of a career that began as a member of the rebooted Browns in 1999.

Cardinals QB Blaine Gabbert has a higher passer rating than either Carson Palmer or Drew Stanton this year.

I will say this is the ultimate trap game.

This game is sandwiched between 4 games.... the toughest 4 games of the Rams season. Vikes, Saints.... then Cards... then onto the Eagles and Seahawks. Then add in the 33-0 drubbing a month ago and this could be very dangerous for this young team to focus.

They better have their crap together for this one. If they blow them out again, it might be one of this coaching staffs greatest accomplishments this year.

Just a little friendly editing Mojo. :sneaky:
I agree. The Rams need to be focused in this game. We should win, but ball security and intensity need to be the theme of the day. Our defense needs to fly around and make plays. The offense needs to execute and score early.
