Then we would have to suspend everyone in the "boobs" and "butts" threads because those images might be offensive to some as well. Btw how come no female members post here any longer, hmm? In the meanwhile enjoy staring at Kaepernick's bare ass. Bwahahaha...cough...bwahaha.

Now go away. CGI and myself have places to go and things to do. That's him in the front in case you've never seen him before. :snicker:

Peyton is going to have Superbowl flashbacks this weekend.
He knows he's going to get hit and sacked.

Hi all- Broncos fan here.

First off, St. Louis is an unfamiliar opponent for Denver, so I don't think you'll see a lot of pre-game evaluation and talk (at least on the boards that I go to). There's been some frustration by Denver's play two weeks ago against N.E. and during the first half of the Oakland game last week, so I don't think people have a "ho hum" attitude. We do have a really good team all-around, with no obvious weak spots in the starting 22 (and great depth), but Denver is fully capable of execution problems (penalties, missed throws, wrong assignments) in key situations. When the ceiling is high fans get mad when you have incomplete passes or give up scores, so our message boards get annoyingly bad. Peyton Manning is still playing at a very high level, and the recipe people have been using to slow him down is to drop a lot of people in coverage and hope to get pressure with 3 or 4 people up front. Denver can secretly run the ball now though. Peyton is going to make a lot of big plays, it's really just a matter of whether you can force him into enough mistakes for 60 minutes to have a winning chance. When the offense gets hot, it's unstoppable- after a slower first half, Denver scored 35 points in just under 17 minutes against Oakland, and that sort of efficiency isn't unique to that game. But they can take a while to "get going," especially on the road. But if your only opportunity to watch Denver was the SB, you may be disappointed.

Denver defense is playing very well, but struggled against Brady and NE. When playing with a lead, there's no better pass rush in the NFL than Miller, Ware, and co. Offensively, you have to pass the ball against Denver with some shorter, efficient passes, and move the chains on third down. Running the ball doesn't work against Denver, they have several big guys clogging the interior and fast LBs (and CBs/S's that can tackle well) to cut off the edge. And they haven't given up too many big plays. They play man-v-man because of two pro bowl level corners and a first round rookie who is playing good, and they usually win the battles on the outside, but you can get TEs and #3-4 receivers involved, run crossing routes, pick plays, etc. They've been inconsistent on third down, though. They can force 5 three-and-outs in a row but then give up a couple of 3rd and 15's.

I'm not trolling but playing Denver is tough, they have too many playmakers. It's a problem of limiting mistakes, executing very well on third downs, hoping for a few goofs on our end (more than probable), and a bit of luck.

Welcome to the board!

I'm really excited to see Ware Vs. G. Robinson. Ware blew up Jake Long a couple of times last year for the cowboys, but I don't think he'll be able to against Mr. Robinson. It'll be a big test for our rookie.

Also, I think you'll be suprised how often little Tre squirts through the line for a 10 yard gain or so. He could break one off if he stops running into people. If we don't abandon the run, we could have a good day running.

What I'm worried about the most is 3rd downs against Peyton. Our team is notoriously bad on third downs, even on third and longs. Often we play 10 yards off the ball, backpedaling and give up a good chunk of yardage on screen passes, and slants. Our LBs haven't been very good most of the season in pass defense, but have picked it up the past 2 games. Ogletree is stepping up right now, and TJ Macdonald should give Julius Thomas a good game. Also, don't forget about our new addition, Mark Barron. He's stepping into an enforcer role on our defense, and got a sack last week in his first meaningful playing time. This was also the play that Carson Palmer got hurt on.

All that said here's what I think happens, and you may think it's scripted the way it happens. We'll play you tough, and might even get out of the half with the lead. When the third quarter starts, the Rams will appear to have a different identity and completely fall apart on offense. The defense will start to get tired, stopping you on first and second down, but can't hold up on third downs. You'll walk out of the dome with a 2-3 score win.

The above is the life of a Rams fan this season. I'll be rooting for you guys in the playoffs, but for this week, I hope we eek out a last second win by 1 point.

We can definitely get to Manning with just 4 guys. If they are smart, they will do the screen passes, and the quick passes. Only team that tried dropping way back and throwing all day was SF, and look what happened there.

We will have to play mistake free football to win this game however. If we turn the ball over, its going to be a long day.

While watching the Rams play, nothing infuriates me more than this.
1st down: good stop
2nd down: nice tackling
3d down: WTH?

I am really stoked to see this matchup play out!

We might get smoked?

Or... We just might play the kind of defense we've seen the last two weeks and frustrate one of the best offenses in the league.

Cool match up.

Potentially....

Denver Over St. Louis

The new streak continues this weekend. Before I show some stats, I see this as another 2 TD (plus) victory for our guys. And without comparing the stats, the high level numbers are very similar to that of Oakland when we faced them, which should give a pretty comforting thought going into the game. OK, here's two, just for fun: Total O - St. L is 30th and Oakland was 32nd. Total D - St. Lou is 17th and Oakland was 16th. So, high level, but very similar.

Then again, St. Louis has won 3 games, including victories over San Fran and Seattle. And they were in tight with teams like Dallas and Philly. So, they aren't too shabby. They've had some bad luck, losing Bradford and Long (although he is coming back soon).

Now this week's comparisons:

Total O - Denver (3rd) StL (30th)
Passing - Denver (2nd) StL (26th)
Rushing - Denver (26th) StL (22nd)

Total D - Denver (5th) StL (17th)
Passing - Denver (19th) StL (13th)
Rushing - Denver (1st) StL (25th)

Sacks - Denver (10th) StL (22nd)
Ints - Denver (7th) StL (28th)

QB Rating - Manning (112.0) Davis (85.1)

Top Receivers (Yards/Game)
DT - 111.3 Sanders - 94.7
Quick - 53.6 Cook - 47.4

Rushing - both teams are ordinary at best, and best rushers stats are 54.0 yds / gm (Hillman, who will not play and Mason)

Analysis

Again, similar stats as The Oakland match. Clearly, other than home field, we should dominate. But there's more fight in this team than Oakland. Beating San Fran and Seattle is pretty cool, even if those teams are not at their best so far. But I used to think the St. Louis D was going to be really tough this season only to see them scraping by. Yes, injuries happen, but their overall performance has been suspect. I suppose when Long returns they will get back to playing better ball. And on O, they seem to sputter.

This is a 2 TD plus game, but one never knows when the "good" St. Lou will show up. Special teams did help beat Seattle.
---------
I am going to really enjoy watching this offense play in a dome!!! I can't imagine how excited peyton is to not have to worry about any elements ... I see a game on our side much like last year's dome game in Dallas. Wait and see how fast this team can truly play!!
--------
It looks like Shaun Hill will be starting for the Rams ... not sure that matters much, neither QB is a serious problem to defend. Actually Davis would probably be easier to defend since he has played lately - recent video - and Hill has not... hard to say?

ST could even things up a bit and I think the Rams are capable of playing better defense than the Raiders. The Broncos should be able to score plenty to win the game = Broncos ~30 St. Louis ~14. It would be nice to finally get a shut out but I'm not predicting that.
---------
Yes......Peyton and dome = Points (lots of them!)
--------
I agree with you Can and always enjoy reading your positive posts we should win this game pretty easily I am thinking like 35-17 go Broncos
--------
I think all of the games are tough from here on in but the Broncos seem to realize that. I would love to see both the offense and defense play aggressive solid mistake free football with a final score somewhere around 35 to 10 for the Broncos. We need to put together a string of good games.
--------
This could be a much tougher game than anyone expects. Fisher has changed QB's to a veteran and I'm sure the message is, don't turn the ball over. He realizes their best shot is to not give us too many chances.

This could be a rough week for our run game. St. Louis is the 3rd ranked rushing D and have the number 1 stuffed rank.

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/dl

The good news is their D line isn't much of a threat in pass rush. Given that Peyton is well above average in staying away from sacks I think we have a huge advantage.

(PT's comment: My guess is this poster has never watched a Rams' game. What a dumb thing to post)

My guess - The Broncos will test them with the run and if their Dline is as expected the Broncos will turn to screens, swings, and draws to get the RB's involved.

Of course our best games have come against teams that are in the lower half in pass d ranking in the link above, maybe this will be a walk in the park.
----------
The St. Louis Rams have sixteen sacks in the last four games.
----------
True but let's put those 16 in context. 14 came in the last two games which is incredible until you realize 8 came against Kaepernick who gets sacked by everyone due to his style of play. (Curious why you would say 4 games when it's basically two games that pad your stat, and they didn't get a single sack in the Seattle game....odd to even lump that in your 4 game count)

6 this last week against the Cards. One probably due to Palmer losing his ACL.

So, are the Rams the team from the first 7 games or from the last two...one of those being Kaep and the gifts he gives.
---------
Aggressive tends to mean "high risk" in an effort to generate big plays; which also means less-than-solid. It virtually guarantees mistakes as well, either in the form of penalties and turnovers.

I really wish people would get off of that word.
---------
38-17. And it won't really be that close. It can get dicey if St.Louis starts pulling out the trick plays like they did against Seattle. Hopefully Denver is preparing for the okey doke.
---------
One thing the Rams have in their favor is their special teams play. That's how the beat Seattle with that brilliant punt and the fake punt at the end. I don't expect them to do the same thing but they might want to throw in something creative in there.

Jeff Fisher said he wants to win this game badly. He might be drawing up something crazy to do just that.

Gotta say, that punt was one of the best plays I've seen in a long time. Boom, total fake out!
--------
The St. Louis defensive line are a physical bunch. Denver's offensive line will need to be on their A game. You know how to counter a good pass rush though, don't ya Sam.
th_broadgrin.gif
Give that ball to CJ!
--------
Some of us don't want to see the first several drives wasted by playing it close to the vest. Both on offense and defense. Open that can up early and don't stop until it's time for Brock in the 4th.

This is a good team, and if we let them hang around, Fisher's tricks can make things interesting. We need to be guns blazing AGGRESSIVE from the coin toss.
--------
This is a well coached team and they will be ready to play ball. We need to come out firing in all 3 phases of the game. We don't want to let them hang around!
--------
Exactly, Fisher wants this win badly. He's gonna do and try anything to make it so. Firing out of the gate is the way to go.
-------
Robert Quinn is a dangerous pass rusher who has come on strong as of late. Clady can handle him but I expect Vasquez to struggle against him
--------
we see what happened when seattle slept on them...any given sunday
--------
28 - 17 Denver
--------
We will win the game, but we have to be heads up in all areas as they will do anything possible to win. This game will be an all out effort on their part and they know they can do it because they did against Seattle. We will have to come in and push from beginning to end and be aware at all times. 28-17 because it is in St Louis.
--------
I have to be honest, I was wondering what was up when I posted the stats. Even though they are still below average in sacks, I remember them earlier this season being in dead last. That was surprising to me, given how well they could pass rush last season. I do realize that Chris Long has missed some games, but he was there when they had the bad start.

Clearly players like Quinn are showing up again.
---------
this games worries me as others have said their front 4 has played a lot better lately esp. getting sacks & w/ the o-line being shuffled around it'll be a tough task...must be ready for every trick play in the book by them to get extra possessions Fisher is a gambler n his team will be ready lets hope we are to...

One thing I've noticed about the Denver punter when I've watched their games, and to be honest I really noticed it in one game, is that he was over kicking the coverage. If he does that, expect Tavon to break one.

AND THEN THERE'S THIS:
Passing - Denver's Drop % (19th)@ 4.8 StL (7th) @ 3.8
Denver's 3 and out drive% (21st) @21.9 StL (15th) @ 20.2
Denver's Rushing YPA (22nd) @ 3.9 StL (25th) @ 3.7 (I think we can do better against the Bronco's!)
Denver D - Denver ranks (32nd) in opponents Rushing Fumbles @ zero. StL (2nd) with 8.
I know I'm just 'Cherry picking' some stats, But they show hope. If our D keeps showing up, and Hill can keep the team on the field, we have a shot!![/QUOTE]

Shaun Hill to start vs. Denver
Rams bench Austin Davis. Hill will start Sunday.

Hill last started in week one when he went out with a calf injury.

Career stats: 61.9 %, 6462 yds, 41 TD, 24 INT, QBR: 85.3
---------
Either way the defense is licking their chops at this match up.
--------
I don't see what they gain with this. If anything, they just look foolish and potentially have a locker room issue. Davis makes mistakes but he at least showed potential.

Never too early to start thinking draft picks maybe.
-------
Denver is gonna eat some lunch.
--------
Some Ram meat
-------
Fisher wants to win ,and the QB has been the problem. The rest of team has been playing great.

If they do not turn the ball over this weekend should be a close game.
--------
Let's hope we don't make him look like 2nd coming of Kurt Warner.
--------
If you were the Rams coach wouldn't you keep the media, and the Broncos, guessing on who your starter was going to be? Or are both guys so mediocre to poor it just doesn't matter?
---------
Hell, I'd start prominently mentioning marc bulger in all my pressers just to make JDR paranoid...gamesmanship, baby.
---------
Why would the Rams let this out now?
--------
A. Maybe they figure it would leak out anyway.

B. At 3-6, the Rams are already 5 games behind the Cards and a wild card spot would be a longshot. Only the Bucs have a worse record in the NFC. So maybe it's a way to keep fans coming to the games.
----------
I think they announce it because the media will see or find out that Hill is getting all the first team reps anyway. can't really keep people in the dark anymore.
----------
he sucked and got benched at the same time his injury was
--------
Maybe they're saying they're going to play Hill, but will actually play Davis! Jeff Fisher is a mad genius!
----------
whats the diff?
----------
This is gonna be ugly. Austin Davis at least showed a little promise. Shaun Hill is like Orton Lite.
-----------
Davis has been pretty crap lately. None of their options are great
---------
Bradford out.

Palmer out.

Who's next in the NFC West?
--------
Colin-Kaepernick-ESPN-Body-Issue-2013-Video-02-2013-07-09-530x670.jpg

-----------
With our track record against backup QBs, this game was always a problem (aka Bradford is, at best, a backup too, along with Davis and Hill)
----------
Half the people in the stands are going to be Peyton Manning fans.

bradford put up around 40 on us last time he played in denver.

Breaking down the Rams
I was initially worried about this game. It was the NFC West which is recently a tough division. Then I realized that I am letting my bias of the division from last season play into their abilities this season. Initially I imagined them is a physical, aggressive team that plays solid defense and special teams that is held back by an anemic offense.

That's all true, but the defense isn't that great either. Upon closer inspection the Rams are having problems all over.
  1. They're toward the bottom of the league in rush defense. Yards per attempt, yardage total, rushing touchdowns allowed.
  2. They're middle of the road in terms of passing yardage allowed. But are toward the bottom in passing touchdowns allowed, yards per attempt allowed and opponent passer rating.
  3. Their give/take margin is at -5, and with 16 giveaways putting them at slightly below average, the margin is reflective of how they are toward the bottom third in takeaways.
  4. On offense they are only a yard better than us in rushing yards per game, and two tenths of a yard better than us in rushing yards per attempt.
  5. They are top five in most sacks allowed. Their yards per pass are toward the bottom third in the league. Completion percentage is pretty decent, around 15, but with a low yards per attempt, you gotta think there's a lot of dump offs happening.

They have some good defensive talent. But I am failing to see it translate on the field. Fisher can beat you if he sees you often. He's very good against division opponents and opponents he's had to play again within a calendar year. But I am realizing this is not last year's rams. Their defense is actually more why they suck than their offense. On a dome, it is difficult to see how Manning isn't able to pick them apart.

I realize they've been banged up. And maybe changing quarterbacks will light a spark. Fisher has always sold out to try and beat Manning. So it's possible we'll see some onside kicks and other things he's tried against Peyton in the past. But I don't know that it will be enough.
----------
In fairness to the Rams, they've had a rough opening schedule. Only 2 of their 9 games have been against teams with losing records: the Bucs, who they defeated and the Vikings, who they played in week one before Adrian Peterson was deactivated.

They've had to play the 49ers twice (and they split). They also defeated Seattle (albeit it at home).

Their remaining games were close losses to Dallas (by 3), and to Philadelphia (by 6), and two blowout losses to Arizona and Kansas City. (And they were in the AZ game until late)

And now they draw the Broncos. Sucks to be them.
--------
I get that. But we've also had a similar schedule.
--------
We get the benefit from the Bradford effect... A scientific effect recently discovered where a black whole sucks all of the talent, capital, and funds from a professional football franchise. The devastating effects have been profound.
----------
Their Defense has been STOUT against the run the last 2 games, which will help them against Peyton, but he'll still dominate.

Also, the Rams did have one of the best ST Punt Return plays of all time
rrofl.gif

-------
They actually aren't that bad in run defense. They've given up a ****load of yards and TDs to opposing QBs rushing the ball, the most in the league at 320 Yards and 4 TDs. If you subtract those totals from the rushing yardage, they are just outside the Top 10 against opposing RBs.

They've been very stingy since their bye week, holding McCoy to 81, Gore to 38, Lynch to 53, Charles to 67, Gore to 49, and Ellington to 23 last week. This should be a very difficult team to run against with our O-line struggling.
---------
Watching the way the Rams beat the Seahawks. I expect some trickery. an exotic defense or perhaps a Fake FG/Punt or Onside at some point.

Broncos Rams preview: First look at the St. Louis Rams
By Kyle Montgomery @MileHighReport on Nov 13 2014, 12:00p 1

Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday will be the lucky 13th meeting between the Rams and Broncos.

St. Louis Rams
stl.gif

Record: 3-6
Streak: Lost 1
All-time vs. Denver: 7-5
Last time: Rams 36, Broncos 33
The Line: Broncos by 10

The Denver Broncos will travel to face one of their historically least-played opponents in Week 10 when they face the St. Louis Rams in the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday, November 16th at 12:00 p.m. CST (11:00 a.m. Mile High time). The game will mark the end of three-game road trip for the Broncos, who enjoy a 2-2 record on the road so far in 2014 and have gone 1-1 in that trip.

Broncos Ram injury report: Ball back at practice Broncos vs. Rams: Blast from the past
The Rams are 3-6, but two of their wins have come against teams that appeared in the NFC Championship Game a year ago. The Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6 then traveled to the San Francisco 49ers to take out Colin Kaepernick and crew in Week 8. Last week's loss against the Arizona Cardinals was a closer game than the 31-14 score would suggest; the Rams held the lead midway through the fourth quarter before the Cardinals offense scored on touchdown and its defense scored two.

Who's Hot

DT Aaron Donald
The Rams' first round draft choice this year, Donald is a relatively lean (285 lbs.) defensive tackle who has shown explosion both as a pass rusher and against the run. Donald has tallied 14 QB hurries, four hits, and two sacks in his last six games (when his snap counts really ramped up) according to ProFootballFocus.com, and he has been ferocious against the run, tallying 12 stops in that period. Donald is PFF's second-highest graded defensive tackle and highest-graded DT in run defense in 2014.

TE Jared Cook
Cook had a 59-yard TD catch a week ago and is putting together a decent season, with 31 catches for 427 yards. He's also a big part of what the Rams do in their running game as a blocker - nearly all of his snaps are either as a receiver or run blocker (only 17 of 441 snaps have seen him pass block).

Who's Not

A change at QB for the Rams

QB Austin Davis
Not that it matters - it's gotten so bad that Jeff Fisher has opted to bench Davis and play Shaun Hill instead. Davis' last game was particularly bad, with a pick-six by Patrick Peterson and a strip-sack fumble that was recovered by Antonio Cromartie and returned for a touchdwon. Davis finished with a 62.6 rating last Sunday, and PFF had graded him in the red (below -1.0) in four of his last five games.

Interior OL
RG Davin Joseph and C Scott Wells have struggled in pass protection, allowing a total of 38 pressures (sacks, hits, and hurries) to Rams' QBs this season. By comparison, we all know Broncos centers and right guards haven't been outstanding, but they've only allowed a total of 23 pressures this season.

Matchups to Watch

CB E.J. Gaines vs. WR Demaryius Thomas and WR Emmanuel Sanders
Gaines is another player who could have made my "Who's hot" list, as he enjoyed two passes defensed a week ago and only allowed three catches for 31 yards against Cardinals QBs. Gaines has started every game for the Rams at left cornerback, covering a variety of targets that has included Michael Crabtree and Larry Fitzgerald. Passers have a measly 76.7 QB rating when targeting Gaines this season, so Thomas and Sanders will have their work cut out for them when they face the Rams' best DB.

Rams special teams vs. Broncos special teams
The Rams beat the Seahawks behind some incredible special teams work, so they're third unit is one that certainly shouldn't be forgotten. It's the third-highest graded special teams in the NFL, according to PFF; the Broncos' special teams ranks 20th.
--------
Rams ST
also took down Indianapolis last year, if memory serves correctly.

Gaines was a guy I took a lot in the late rounds of mock drafts last springs. He wasn’t anything special from a physical perspective, but looked very good on tape.

Not meaning to hijack a thread here but your opinion is the one I value most. Considering the front lines of St. Louis and then Miami, our problems on the Ol become amplified . Denver brings in Incognito for a look. Why bring in a guard? Is not the problem at right tackle? Do you think they are considering moving Franklin back to the right side?

I don’t quite get it. What about someone like Winston who played so long for the Chiefs.? Wily capable old vet who might be good for an eight or ten week run. If we don’t get it straight things will get ugly in the upcoming few weeks.
