Man, it's a good thing no one took most of this boards advice when it came to Matt Gay too. No idea if Brown will be any good or if he'll even be on the team tomorrow but damn... guy has already been buried 6 feet deep.

He does. He is going to sack McVay, Les and Demoff and kick Kroenke's dog if the Rams don't figure this shit out!!
Nah, that's what happens when I drink single malt over pinot noir.

York or Moody would fit the McVay find a kicker model. Let somebody else over draft a kicker. Said kicker does bad and gets cut. Rams then sign said kicker and turn him around. Rams then let the guy go in free agency to sign record free agent deal.

Yeah, IMHO it could still go either way with Tanner Brown. Is he a solid kicker who's just going through some rookie struggles (like Gay and Zeurlein did?) Or is it looking like he won't make it in the NFL (like Sloman)?

On the one hand, Brown had a great senior year, going 22 for 23 on FG attempts and making all of his XP's. On the other hand, his misses in preseason are concerning (especially after we've been spoiled rotten by Gay's consistency).

Gay was 28 of 35 on FG's his rookie year, BTW.

Really hard to predict, but I'm sure Les has contingency plans all ready to go...

I'm laughing at the poster who spent much of the thread pissing himself over the Rams not getting Rodrigo Blankenship, a guy who isn't even on a NFL squad at this point.
Dustin Hopkins was just traded to the Browns, for a2025 7th round pick.
I'd sign their kicker, Cade York. Take the Matt Gay gamble again on another top college prospect who failed as a rookie.

Tanner kicks a good ball. I am not giving up on him yet.

There is insane pressure on kickers… the spotlight on you is 1,000,000x magnified that pressure you feel playing golf when others watch you tee off.

Everyone is watching. Can you tune it out?

Some pull out of it, and develop ice in the veins like Matt Gay. Others don’t, like Roberto Aguayo.

If he can pull out of it… that’s what makes the best kickers great.

Go Tanner!

Daniel Carlson too. Failed with the Vikings sign with the Raiders now one of the best in the league.

I said from the beginning that Robbie Gould was a good interim kicker. Keep Brown on the PS and let him be mentored by Gould. Robbie's range isn't what it used to be. What got him booted out of SF was going 7 for 11 between 40-49 yds. Basically anything under 45 yds and he's money.

What Robbie does is shorten the field. Once the offense reaches the 35 yd line they have 3 points. From that point on it's going for the TD. With young kickers it's a matter of consistent technique. At the very least they should hire him to mentor Brown. Robbie is 40 years old so it's long in the tooth for an NFL player. But what he knows is worth money.

I am repeating myself but the Rams should have signed Matt Gay to a 5 year contract with a signing bonus so they could get under the cap for the first year.

Having a higher CAP hit in years 2 3 4 and 5 would not hurt the Rams since I see the CAP dramatically going up each year with the new TV contract
