It's kind of weird in how we've never found a balanced DC. Wade was too aggressive. Morris is way too passive. Staley had a lot of potential but needed some seasoning.
I think Staley was as close to balanced as we've had between recent DC's. In the beginning of last season, we were complaining that the zone coverage concept he was showing sucked. And it did. He turned it around and started calling more balanced zone/man coverage and even sprinkled in some blitzes that were effective in key situations. Letting him go really sucked.

Asking not questioning.

Why are people blaming Morris? It is not his fault the D-Line was slapped around.
Yeah there were so so so many plays tonight where guys were in position to make plays and they didn’t. The first 4 running plays of the second half, we hit them at or behind the LOS. They broke the tackle on every play

talking about the drive at the end of the game numbnuts

Oh, so that's the only drive that mattered, not the 30 minutes before that?

OK, well maybe you'd like to talk about how it was Rapp and Ramsay overrunning their path to Jimmy GQ so that he had so much time to hit his targets and not how only Miller got any pressure on him, and only once and the rest of the line did dick all?

If Ramsay revolts against him Morris could lose the D and his job.
Unless something changes in the playoffs to change Ramsey's mind I'm thinking this is exactly whats going to happen.

That would be the definition of a mindset of playing scared.
lol really? about 90% of all football coaches make the same call.

thats jsut me from watching about 30 years of football

i mean i would have been fine if he tried to get the first down... but spare me because thats what all coaches do.

There was a shot of him on the broadcast yelling at Morris while he had his back to him. Morris didn't bother to turn around but Ramsey was pissed.

Was 20 feet away. Can confirm. At that stage the Niner fans were so loud I couldn't really hear what was being said on the sideline, but I did pick up "tighter"

I mean considering the Shanahans have a very long history with runningbacks I'll say they make anybody look at least decent. Plus we have kupp and OBj now. But anyway we'll just agree to disagree on this one.
They have a history of finding good ones and understanding what they're looking for.

Is OBJ having more of an impact this season than Aiyuk? Aiyuk has more catches and yards and the same number of TDs.

Okay.

90% of the coaches who come to the NFL don't win Super Bowls. Probably higher than that.

Just me from watching 40+ years of football.

we had the game won at that point however... secondary does shit the bed the game is over.

the 49ners ran the ball for 135 yards... its not like they ran for 250.

that last drive was what killed us more than anything.

No point it continuing this convo with a bias person. Carry on.
No one is being bias. Goff threw 16 picks in ‘19. Stafford threw 17 this year. While also almost doubling up Goffs TD passes 40-22.

Goff will not be a starting QB in the league in 3 years and people are still yearning for him to be taking snaps for the Rams. Unreal!

No, it's not bad. Is it worth 2 firsts? Jury is out, but do you think a drive to get at least a FG in OT is too much to ask for at that price?
Is the success or failure of the Stafford trade being based on solely the 2021 season? I don’t get that. Especially the regular season.

I get that everyone wants to assign a grade but unfortunately it might be 2-3 years before we see if it was worth it or not.

Here's where I'm at right now at this.

No.. today's loss wasn't his fault. As I've said.. I think the single biggest issue in this game was the Rams offensive line. It was the difference between victory and defeat, imo.

But, with the ball in hand and a chance to tie or win the game.. .the QB they spent two firsts on threw a pretty lame int.

That doesn't feel like a guy I want to give two first rounders up for.

We'll see in the playoffs.

Especially when the only real success SF was having all game was just by pounding the football—which they couldn’t do in that 2 min situation.

If Rams fans worldwide were polled before the game, and asked whether they’d rather be up 7 with 90 seconds to go, with Jimmy needing to go 90 yards with no timeouts OR have the offense try and score to tie the game in the same situation, the results would’ve been 100%-0% in favor of the D being on the field. Which is why it’s kinda hard to blame McVay for sitting on the ball on the last drive.

I didn't feel great about it after seeing game after game this season with other teams as well as the Rams with teams driving down the field in that situation.

I liked it.. but I would've liked a first down a whole lot better.
