How many times were we in that position?

It was rhetorical. Prior to today, if the Rams ever had a 7 pt 4th quarter lead they had never lost.

But I believe the defense was in "game clinching" scenarios 4 or 5 times last year. The only one they allowed was to the Bills off a bullshit PI call. But that was only a 4 pt lead.

I wonder how the mood was in the locker room as nfc west champ shirts and hats were being handed out. Would like to see the locker room footage

You just please need to stop making things up to rationalize actual mistakes by our actual 2021 QB.
I was responding to a hypothetical about Goff on this years roster. I didn’t make anything up. Stafford was top 5 this year in TDs, yards, and QBR. You *dont* think he woulda killed it with the ‘18 roster?

Hard to take anyone serious that’s making actual comparisons to Stafford and Goff.

Check out the post game press conferences...

Ramsey was pissed, great competitor. McVay looked pissed and disappointed. Both only spoke for about 2 minutes.

Stafford gave the longest session, and was more even keeled.

Then the best was Kupp. He started talking and then the fire alarm went off declaring an emergency... How appropriate after that mess. Maybe someone trashed an alarm or lit something on fire in the locker room. Funny.
Let's hope this loss lights a fire under the team and coaches.

Rams maybe can't match the Niners at some positions but we're a better overall team. Should have won this game.

If you guys haven't seen the post game presser I encourage you all to do so.

McVay looks like he's on the verge of tears. I've never seen him so pissed off and be so short with the media. He was ready to go into the locker room and let heads roll.

Ramsey doesn't say much but makes sure to get in a shot at the conservative defensive scheme. Now we all know what he was yelling at Morris on the sidelines about. He's really wasting his talent on this defense.

McVay specifically said that the time to celebrate wasn't now. He was pissed the fuck off but he should shoulder some of the blame for his play calling and letting Morris run that pathetic, sorry ass excuse of a defense. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he fired his ass in the locker room today. His defense is a complete liability heading into the playoffs and I think anyone with ANY type of experience calling a defense could do a better job.

I think the thing that’s probably most frustrating for McVay is that SF has literally been kicking this teams ass. They’ve been physically dominant. It’s not like the Chiefs where Mahomes is throwing 80 yard bombs and Kelce, Hill, and Hardman are catching balls all over the yard. The Niners are lining up and physically dominating both lines of scrimmage. That is a helpless feeling for a coach. There’s literally nothing you can do

Weird right like is Morris a con artist he pitched Ramsey initially sold him on how he would be used Ramsey bought in and is he now having buyers remorse???? That's scary crazy

Yeah Jared Goff with the 2021 Rams has 8-9 written all over it. 2017, 2018 Gurley was a top 3 offensive player in the league.

Stafford with prime Gurley, Kupp, Woods, Higbee, and Cooks?? Yeah that’s Super Bowl worthy.
I shouldn't respond, but I'm grumpy, so fuck it. My friend, Goff took a worse team than this to 9-7 in 2019. Worse running game, significantly worse OL, and a defense that was equally average. The idea that we'd have a losing season with Goff as our QB this year is simply a wrong one. We'd be worse than we are because Stafford is better. But we wouldn't be a mediocre team.

We cant honestly sit here with a straight face and say that McVay is a better coach than Shanahan right now

Well, has has won more games, he's never had a losing season, won division titles 3 out of 5 years and been to the playoffs 4 out of 5. Yes, I think McVay is better.

This is like the "styles make fights" saying in boxing. Muhammad Ali was clearly a much better fighter than Ken Norton or Joe Frazier, both of whom gave him fits and pushed him to the absolute brink, and both of whom pinned losses on him. Yet both of those guys got annihilated by clubbers like George Foremen, and Norton lost a number of other fights you would think heshould have one. Same with McVay and Parabolic Dish Ears. McVay wins most of his games and looks good doing it. PDE beats McVay, but loses a lot of gamed his team should win.

McVay is a better coach, but PDE has his number right now. Fortunately, in football, one can build their team with other teams in mind, and I think this offseason there needs to be a serious look by McSnead on how they need to build the Rams going forward with the express purpose of pounding the 49ers.

Suggest we see how many playoff games Stafford wins before we talk about who is serious and actual comparisons. I'm hoping he comes through big time but at this point whether he actually will seems far from certain.

Yeah, at the end he looks lit.

Needs to harness his anger, give over to the dark side and start beating the shit out of other teams...

McVay needs to be more like Belichick and not go into a shell once he gets a 2 possession lead. The D didn't tackle for shit. Even when they had the ball carrier stopped behind the line of scrimmage they couldn't finish the tackle.

The final kick in the nuts is kupp not hitting the record in OT.

We could’ve sent them fucking home for the season ughhh.

And even if we swept them next year it won’t offset what this win would’ve meant. Too much on the line today to lose this way.

Sorry but 9-7 is literally just a few plays away from 8-8 or 7-9. Saying he wouldn’t have flirted with a sub .500 record because he finished 9-7 in 2019 seems like weird logic.

This 2021 team is struggling to make the playoffs with Goff. You get all the Stafford turnovers with a fraction of the explosive plays.

Stafford wasn't the primary reason for the loss but a game ending turnover is a game ending turnover. Especially an avoidable turnover, not a failed last second hail Mary. And I don't care who the QB is.
well spoken sir

I hope he takes a good hard look at his DC. McVay wasn't great in this game, but his DC was awful at the absolute worst time.

It's weird because it feels like if we played anyone else today then we win. For whatever reason the 9ers are just an absolutely terrible matchup for us. It's like we got up 17-0 and then remembered we were playing the 9ers.

The line play on both sides of the ball and the general lack of physicality and piss poor tackling had way more to do with this loss tonight than any offensive or defensive play calls or QB play.
