I find it interesting that there are only complaints about Noteboom and not anybody else posting how he's been very good in two games until he got hurt today.

I think Noteboom is one of those unsung type guys that you don't notice until he's out. That said, I don't think he makes that play on the Fred Warner sack on 3rd and 10 after he goes out. But maybe...?

And, for the life of me, I can't figure out what the Rams' coaches see in Derion Kendrick.

I think they like his mentality. But for how long can they ignore his physical limitations? If that's JR out there rather than DK we're talking about a completely different outcome.

When those ... reversed the correct flag/call they made for illegal contact because they tried to claim Stafford was outside of the pocket... only a ... idiot would not see the robbery happening right before their eyes in broad daylight.

That made absolutely no sense, and for the announcers to show a replay and have him in the pocket.

He is one of the reasons we lost this game. After two games of proof, what more do the Rams need. He should be a backup.

End of the first half.

I have always been against jamming it in for the TD. When the team your playing has no timeouts, I'd much rather get the first down and make sure you're the last team to touch the ball that half or you're kicking it away with very little time left. Too often these teams start playing not to give up big plays and they allow teams to easily move down the field.

I don't think it was scheme (in this case). I think it's that our CB can't tackle or get off blocks.

This is where the loss of JR is extremely evident.

We are a LT, Edge, NT, and #1 CB away from contending. Can we add all that in two years? 3 of those typically require high picks and/or significant FA investment. On the bright side, Puku looks an all pro, legit steal. Him Tutu and Kupp will be formidable.

We have the money and the draft capital to do so. Given that it's beginning to look like we drafted at least four starters this off season, it's possible our player evaluation is up to the task.

I think two things on this:
I think it's dangerous to bench DK because his confidence could collapse.
And I think replacing him with a rookie doesn't immediately help the situation, but could in time.
So whatever we do, there is a risk.

Donald didn't record a stat in this game, not even an assisted tackle. Need more from him.

Guys, Rat Face has publicly stated that he will never let AD beat him again after the last time we beat the Whiners in the regular season.

Since then they purposely design the offense to run away from AD. How much more of a compliment can they give him?

This is why we need more than ONE elite player on defense.

I just don't see it. Kendrick acts like a tough guy and talks trash (like C.J. Gardner-Johnson for example) but, unlike Gardner-Johnson, he avoids tackling, or makes minimal efforts when he must try to tackle.

That's OK if he can cover well but he doesn't.

I like the competitiveness and passion Kendrick plays with.

I think he projects as a solid backup because he's going to make some tackles and PBU during the course of the game.

He gives you a shot.

But as a starter he is still a liability. Breaks the integrity of a defense. We have seen it now in both games and last year.

He lets guys behind him and worse, can't recover.

I think it's a first man up, its his job to lose mentality. Plus THT is in the doghouse after the dirty facemask tackle.

At some point they have to see if THT has more then Kendrick though. Hopefully very soon or I'm going to lose my shit.

...

OK, maybe that's what the coaches like. However, I would measure 'competitiveness and passion' more by physicality and a willingness (even desire) to tackle; and less by his attitude and demeanor on the field.

let's not forget about t
Yeah, that holding call against Higbeast really hurt our momentum in the first half.
and the holding call against Hopkins after Williams busted a 20 yard run up the middle right before the 1st int killed a great drive in the 2nd half

There was a 2nd half pass play that was analyzed and discussed. Four pass rushers vs. the five OL ... no blitz, and no one stayed in to block or even chip.

The Rams put three rushers to their right-side and Aaron Donald split wide at LDE. The three Niners' OL to their left side (LT, LG, C) took on the three Rams' rushers, while the RG went-over to help the RT block Donald.

We lost a game everybody on this board thought we'd lose. By 7. It was 17 all with 4:10 left in the third. A couple of picks and a turnover on downs made all the difference. I think if we're honest with ourselves, we'd say this team is already better than we thought they'd be at midseason. Some (or many?) were saying we'd be 1-5 or 0-6 to start off. Anybody want to make that bet now? If they can remain fairly healthy, this team will get better still and the schedule will soften up a bit. What are they going to look like when Kupp returns? I hate losing to SF.....McVay now has 39 regular season losses over 6+ seasons and 10....more than 25%....are to the niners.....but eventually, that worm will turn. We're 2 games into the season and these kids are going to get waaaaay better.

My vent is with Akers and VJ. Get rid of them.

Only thing I can be pissed about is that we were given a glimmer of hope before the half. If Kendrick wouldn't have committed those 2 stupid pointless penalties, we would have been up at the half with momentum still on our side.

Other than that, this should have been a blow out, but our D held their own and gave us a couple opportunities to get back in the game late. Can't argue with that at all.

As long as we are healthy, the niners will be going against a much more experienced team at the end of the season.

Not shocked by Akers, don't quite understand him, but not shocked. Jefferson surprises me being a coach's son and in college he was their go to guy when they needed a play. Oh well, Akers will be gone soon and Jefferson will end up in Carolina with his Dad.
