Cousins had 50 yards passing and 1 TD in the first quarter
76 yards the rest of the way
And yet the Rams still couldnt stop them when it mattered

But then the Rams had a wr wide open for the winning TD, yet somehow the qb couldn't hit him. The simplest pass indoors, no wind. Baffling.

.

my biggest argument would be the paper soft schedule that Maye has faced....He has pro receivers as well....

It cannot be overstated. We played the Texans, Seahawks twice and the Eagles. If you go look at DVOA right now, its wild:

1. Rams (not sure if this is updated after yesterday or not)
2. Seahawks
3. Lions
4. Colts (on the back of how good they were when Jones was playing)
5. Texans
6. Jaguars

Niners are 9th, Eagles are 11th. The Bills are 10th.

You can go look at the standings instead of DVOA and it paints a similar picture....the point is, we have played SEVERAL top teams and the Patriots have not.

The four games against elite defenses are one thing. But how good a team is in general also matters....there was serious pressure on our offense against the Niners, Lions, and the Colts (when we played them they were amazing) because of how good those offenses are. Look at how good the Jaguars are and what Matt did to them without Puka.

The Patriots have played one of the easiest schedules in NFL history.

AND - Maye has only had to throw for 300 yards one time, just to back that up. Well, what about the running game? That benefits Stafford right? McVay has said MULTIPLE times how great Stafford is at getting us in and out of run plays. Treyveon Henderson has popped more explosives than our entire run game combined.

That was disappointing and I truly need a break from this team because watching them has become hazardous to my health.

Didnt even need to be a perfect pass, he was so incredibly open
And I'll say this, Atwell blew it by not selling that obvious PI on the next play

The MVP award seems so arbitrarily awarded. Last year Josh Allen won when Lamar Jackson had a better season. And Jackson's season was even better than his prior season, in which he won the award.

So even with the easier schedule for Maye, I could see him winning that MVP award. Especially if East Coast bias comes into play.

I am sure this has been addressed last night.

Yes the Humphries penalties hurt. I really think a lot of it was scheme related. Morris knows are offense and probably some elements of our D to attack it .

The D line is just not getting the pressure it did during the win streak. We need answers on this. What has changed?

The refs fucked us too though. The ATL O line was holding the entire night. Ford was put on the ground. BTW, I could swear that the second to last play was a catch.

So do we root for Seattle next week? (Serious question) I think so
Seattle....

the loss of Adams, Alaric and Lake is being felt.

Then Stafford pulls a hat trick in the same game he misses open WRs.

The refs were terrible in this game, missing PI and helmet thrown off Poona but calling a ghost holding on Humphries to erase a TD.

But what really pisses me off, since this is a vent thread, is our passive defense that rarely blitzes or changes to man coverage. But biggest issue of all is having no answer to the over the middle throw. Our defensive scheme sucks. Put some extra guys in the middle of the damn field.
Wait, do you want them to blitz or drop more players back into the middle of the field? Also, blitzing really stresses what is a middle of the road defensive backfield. If you don’t get home quickly it can create other problems.

Here's my two cents...

The Rams did not come out ready to play. That's on McVay. Stafford had a bad night. I kept wondering though... why is Mumpfield and Xavier Smith getting so much playing time? I think that is one of the reasons why Stafford was off last night... he just isn't experienced playing with these guys and used to their route-running. Why isn't Tutu being used? I guess the Rams have decided that they might as well get Smith and Mumpfield experience because Tutu will be released after the season. But it sure hurt last night. The only play Tutu was involved in should have resulted in yet another pass interference call. I'm not a fan of Tutu... but the guy just makes plays when he is in there.

The defense hasn't played well in several games. They aren't rushing the passer as well, they aren't covering as well, they aren't getting stops... can the injury to Lake be all because of that? I don't think so. The Rams need secondary help asap.

Injuries aren't helping either but many teams overcome this. I'm not sure why it bites the Rams in the ass every time a starter goes out.

The refs sucked again. So many game-changing calls against us. For the people that blame it on the Rams for losing... I get that. But on the other hand... I am getting tired of losing CLOSE games because of the refs. Yeah... I wish the Rams would blow everyone out so the refs can't impact the game but this is the NFL and there will be close games. The refs have to do a better job. The holding call on DJ was BS! The pass interference NON-call on Tutu was a game-changer and it was obvious! The play where Poona Ford had his helmet pushed off? The refs didn't see that?

Rant over. Hopefully the whiners lose to the seahags next week and help us out. That will put McVay in a position to win the Arizona game, get some momentum going for the playoffs, and get the #5 seed. The Rams are still very much alive either way though.

This game should end all the overhype of the Rams being the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Our defense can’t make a stop when it’s crunch time. At times , they can’t stop anyone. The pass rush is nonexistent , and that really exposes the back end. We’ve lost 3 out of the last 4 games. We’re probably the 5th best team in the NFC right now , and the chances of winning 3 straight road games are slim. WTF happened

Well all I can say is the last four games the Rams players and coaching staff look like a wildcard team.

Since the ST's weren't to blame, what coach is going to be fired for no points in the first half and the three interceptions?

Defense has not been the same on the back end since Quentin Lake has been out plus Lake was an excellent blitzer. Agree 100% @gabriel18 the pressure from the front four is non existent.

We have NOT lost 3 of 4 games...

I still got faith in this team.....

I had to laugh at the last sentence. That was good. But I'm not sure about the last four games... I think the Rams lost their mojo right after the collapse against the seahags and Kobie Turner's interception. That should have been the nail in the coffin and the Rams simply haven't recovered. JMO.

I will repeat.....

Fucking refs

Several missed or bad calls tonight. Staff missed 2 other wide open opportunities late also, though. The late one to X was 6, and probably a game winner.
I will also say that if the Rams continue to get the shit end of the officiating stick that it's going to make it tougher in the playoffs.
And I don't mean that we get the favorable bad calls, just fair ones.
TuTu was definitely interfered with on his lone pass targeting.
And Humphries was a joke for much of the game.

I don't care if Puka called out the Zebras.
If this game has no integrity, there's no reason to support it.
It was OBVIOUS the refs had it out for the Rams -- that sideline catch by 12 WAS A CATCH -- so obvious that I really can't take much more of this.
Sure, we should've overcome it. Humphries did us no favors; kinda hard to win in the NFL without a quality starting LT. But the calls -- and non-calls -- are egregious.

Ill say this about the refs, they screwed us on some big calls, but if they actually called holding on ATL through out the game, I dont think those big calls matter. Bc ATL'S offense who have been obsolete. Why do you think they ran it with so much success? Every single time they would do a replay of a successful run there was a blatant hold on our dlinemen.

This is what scares me. I think what Puka said is going to affect us going forward. They'll throw us a bone every now and then, but those holds that allow what was suppose to be a negative yd run turn into a 4 yd run, or a hold that should have resulted in a pressure or sack, they're going to let those slide. Those smaller penalties not called add up to be greater impacts than 1 non PI call or a holding call that was really the defender falling.

I had a strong feeling the Rams were going to lose this game. They have a real nasty tendancy to fill their diaper in Nationally Televised games. A couple weeks ago I thought this was the best team in football, regardless of record. That confidence has wavered.

Some teams find a way to win. This season, the Rams have found excruciating ways to lose.
