On 4th & 1 in the redzone?
It was early in the game. There's no reason to panic at that point.
Take the three points and then kick it off.
Instead they stopped us and it fired them up and they scored on that failed forth and one.
They scored on our other failed worth down attempt too but it was a different situation.

I mentioned it earlier, but we need to add more team speed. Saw two fast defenses these last two weeks, and while they torched Seattle for much of the game, seems like if the scheme isn't working, we cant beat guys one on one or break big plays with just a players effort like Robinson did tonight.

Analytics disagreed.

The only issue I had with the decision is how McVay trusts non-starters via his play calls a bit more than I would like in certain situations.

The special teams played the best in this game.
We finally got a decent return without a flag being thrown against us and the coverage team look tighter.
They should be even better next week with another few practices in.

Goodbye Blackfuck or whatever that jerk's name was.

Why not use our TO’s before Atlanta crossed the 50 yd line for the game winning FG

Could have given our offense another minute or so to go down and do something. McVay just let the clock run down….like he was sure they were going to miss the FG. Weird.

Am I missing something??

i cant really blame mcvay for an overthrow and missing a wide open game winner
Plenty of blame to go around but whoever called that bomb in the second half that was intercepted was pretty damn predictable and there were two Falcons players waiting for it. Going for it on fourth down and one also put Stafford in a hole that he had to dig out of.
And he almost did if it weren't for a couple of bad calls by the referees at the end of the game.

McVay cost us this one.
McVay's play calling and use of timeouts was easily his worse game.
I understand going for it on 4th down if the game is on the line but not when you're down by only seven points that early in the game and it's a chip shot from the 20.
Now I see why so many teams are looking at La Fleur.
That may have been our best called game.

Evidently some of us are just old-fashioned when it comes to whether to go for it on 4th down or kick a field goal and clock management.

McVay is some kind of new age brainiac that we just don't understand. ;)

relax guys...

we lost a game where we really didn't try... and still nearly won it....

why the hell do i feel like i'm the only glass half full guy around here?...

we didn't try, and still nearly won... anybody else get that?

the left tackle should not be in the NFL... humphries, go away...

atl running back... i really wish he was a ram... that kid is ferocious ...

we lose a game, but we're on the road to better health...

playoff health is more important than a 10th rd draft pick...

let's go get this done and quit worrying about non important wins...

My guess is two things:

1. He was hoping the defense wouldn't get gashed and give up the first down. They put up zero resistance, and so calling timeouts would've been wasted anyways.

2. He was hoping to have them for our offensive drive.

I personally lost my glass 3 losses ago. You can easily argue that the Rams haven't lost a single name this year to an opponent who was better. So why have the lost so many of those?

arguments can be made in a lot of directions...

bad ref calls (and i personally hate that take, but there may have been a couple of losses attributed)

no team is better, hopefully we see much better refereeing...
