See you guys next Sunday. Way too much doom and gloom for my tastes, especially when it's got a bunch of pissing and moaning factored in. Maybe I'll hang out in reddit for some positivity.

I hope so. I really do. But I used to think he would stay because the roster would be in a really good situation and Stafford would’ve just aged out. And it would just be time for a new QB. And the train would keep on moving.

But almost the opposite has happened. He’s got an old QB still playing at a high level, but the roster currently isn’t there to support him. Some really nice pieces here and there, but not enough. If Snead comes to McVay and says “we’ve really gotta blow this up and go full rebuild to be competitive long term”, does McVay stick around? I don’t think he does.
I disagree.
If Mcvay is energized by training new talent and getting the most out of them, considering the lower round guys we have drafted and UDFA's, So why would it bother him to train up a new QB, etc..?

But he wasn’t as effective at least last year people were saying Dallas should have got him but he wouldn’t be producing like that there him and Lamar perfect together
I agree. But I think Henry was still very good. And the Titans offense was a mess. He just made them better.

Looked like a 3 levels issue to me. Our 4 star defensive front players are light. Heaviest one is 295. Gonna get blown off the ball every time.

Linebackers stink. Nothing new to say.

Corners were bad. How many 3rd and long did we surrender?!?
As I said in my post, I don't completely blame the CBs for giving up the 3rd and longs.

One was a screen pass to Barkley that Slowboom completely missed the tackle - face in dirt

One was a scramble by Hurtz who again outran Slowboom to the first down marker.

I do like Speights but he is going to make rookie mistakes from time to time but once he has a RB in his grips - that RB is stopped dead in the water.

3rd & 5 at LAR 25

(1:53 - 2nd) (Shotgun) J.Hurts scrambles left end pushed ob at LA 20 for 5 yards (C.Slowboom).

3rd & 10 at LAR 44

(7:05 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass short right to S.Barkley pushed ob at LA 13 for 31 yards (K.Curl; J.McCollough).

This one Hurts ran by Slowboom

3rd & 10 at LAR 44

(7:37 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Hurts scrambles left tackle pushed ob at LA 26 for 18 yards (Q.Lake).Penalty on LA-C.Durant, Illegal Contact, offsetting, enforced at LA 44 - No Play.Penalty on PHI-J.Mailata, Offensive Holding, offsetting.

Another run by Slowboom but offsetting penalties wiped out this play

3rd & 10 at LAR 44

(7:05 - 3rd) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass short right to S.Barkley pushed ob at LA 13 for 31 yards (K.Curl; J.McCollough).

Slowboom falls flat on his face again missing the tackle.

TBH there are not many passing games in the NFL that scare anyone this year. Ours is actually a little bit scarier than most.
Provided that he gets good protection up front, he can still rip up any defense.

We need a draft something like this.

Reinforce the edges on the O-Line for years to come. Elite WR help, a TE threat. Blanket the CB room. 2 solid LB that can blitz, stop the run, and cover. Home run RB to change of pace to our Corum.

Yes I know, the college football season isn't even close to be done, but we need a talented draft something like this to compliment the last two years.

The Rams are just not a good team. They are exactly what their record says they are. We have traded jerseys with the Lions at this point. Was it worth it for that SB? It sure felt like it at the time, but as the years go on, and the Lions continue to ascend with our former QB and those picks we gave them to get rid of him..... It gets cloudier. At least for me.

Before anyone decides to puff out their chest and come after me..... It is a fucking VENT thread. Deal with it.
The only point I'll make is the 70's Rams.
Seven NFC West titles and one Super Bowl loss. I would have traded that limited success for one or two Super Bowl wins. The Lions have won nothing yet that matters and as good as they are now, all will be forgotten unless they win a Lombardi.
We have a Super Bowl from the trade, which makes all the difference to me.

Not much to vent about. They just ran into a wagon. The Eagles are just a bigger, more physical team on both sides of the ball. They will give Detroit fits, although losing Graham is a huge blow to them.

Lick your wounds and move on. And I hope the front office remembers this game during the offseason when trying to continue this team build. You have to beat teams like that to get another ring.

What a weird thing to say in a VENT thread. Did you expect people to be in here ecstatic after a blowout loss on a national stage?

I will never understand why some people will come into a clearly marked thread dedicated to letting off steam..... And complain about people doing exactly that.

If you have a problem with people venting, it's quite simple to avoid. Just. Don't. Open. The. Vent. Thread.

Yeah, and I get that totally. I think I hate losing more than I love winning. Wish that wasn't the case, but I'm afraid it is, haha. But as my signature says, I'm still celebrating SB53, so I won't stay pissy for long.

Cheers!

I don't buy that they are not a good team and the record is what they are.

No, they could easily be a 7-4 team with good health, especially had they not been decimated on the OL & WR for the first 6 games.

Having said that, they obviously are not a SB contender and are a few notches below the Eagles & Lions, who both just might be a few notches above everyone else as well.

They have work to do. Need to improve at OT, need more size at DT to pair with Verse, Fiske, and Turner. Need higher level play at CB. Maybe even a more dynamic RB with Williams being more of a change of pace back.

Well, it would help if the venting was logical

Positive venting would be to discuss what the team needs to address to get better, to win a game like that. What areas need upgrades, how to maje those upgradrs, etc... Not venting about how the coaches suck, the players suck and what not.

Eagles success comes in spite of, not b/c of Sirianni. Guy is a shit game-coach.

Yes ... a thousand times, Yes!

As someone who lived through the 1970s' Rams. It was fun and exciting, with great memories of excellent teams and players. However, it was also absolutely brutal and heart-breaking. They were so good but came-up short each year from 1973-1978.

Four NFC Championship losses in a five-year-period ('74, '75', 76 and '78); and the 1977 Divisional Round Mud Bowl loss was just as painful. Some were games the Rams should have won (1974 and 1976), others were games the talented Rams did not seem to even show-up. All were bone-crushing defeats that fans carried for weeks/months, and became a burden the following years.

To be THAT Good ... get THAT Close ... Only to Fall Short. It's difficult to explain if you have not lived through it.

That's why winning four playoff games in 2021, including three down-to-the-wire wins, was SO HUGE.

Consider the current and recent San Francisco 49ers. Try to be objective for a moment.
Outstanding Regular Seasons. Considered a top-Super-contender every year ... even a favorite to win.
Four straight NFC Championships, and two Super Bowls ... ZERO Lombardi trophies.
They led by two scores in three of the four losses; and had no healthy QB in the fourth.

As much as 49er fans enjoy their success and many wins, how will the die-hard fans look back on this stretch?

Positive venting
I guess this is the part I don't get. I thought the point of venting was to get stuff off your chest and then move on. I agree that people should not attack players or coaches, but it should be expected that scheme, personnel, etc are going to be criticized after a bad loss.

Is it really as hard as Snead makes it look to get good CB play?

Its also a message board, so don't put something out that you expect to be left alone. I am venting about the Rams too - bordering on blowing up the offense at this point.

But yes, it was absolutely worth a Super Bowl. Go ask a team that has never won one if that would be worth it.

Also....the Lions have the best roster around a QB in football. We would not have had that even if we kept our picks, as those picks would have been in the 15-25 range each year (and the Lions had their picks, which we obviously would not have had). So its just not an apples to apples thing.
