Despite my earlier post lamenting the loss of Tutu and how I think he will really thirve in his next spot if given a real chance, I agree with those saying Tutu is too small to be a core piece. He is only ever going to be a complimentary player. But many of those types of guys are still extremely valuable and play a huge part in winning games. I just wish it could be in horns. It is too bad we wasted the pick in the end. The dude can ball. He'll never be an every down starting WR. I agree he's not going to set the league on fire. But he is a very good WR. He completly won me over. Like a total 180. I wanted him gone for years. His ball security and hands in particular seemed to improve. He never had a bunch of fumbles. But it was not until more recently in his career that the catches became much more fluid and safe looking. Earlier the ball always looked much more in doubt, escpailly when absorbing hits and contact.

Just trying to see here, out of the WR who the Rams let go, any of them amount to much?
I laugh at the posters who say stuff like McVay didnt know how to use him. Truth is, if McVay cant figure it out, chances are nobody can
Yep. True comedy.

Lesson for the Rams is identify the dogs who want the ball and can fight through contact, no matter their size. Remove the rest from your board, as they are distractions. Slot them based on measurables and take one when things line up.

I think TE is the biggest need though. Stafford does a lot of eye games to control defenses and gets the most from big targets, and he needs a Kupp replacement i.e. security blanket. This class is the best chance McVay has had to find that jumbo sized workhorse for the middle of the field since he came onboard.

X may end up getting pushed back again, as far as ideal types are concerned. Golden is probably a late first to early second in a normal wideout class but may go higher due to teams wanting a perimeter threat. Saw a mock with him very high, no idea what teams are thinking but supply and demand are real.

Disagree, McVay didn't know how to use Tutu because WRs do need to meet certain traits that you described to get on the field. Unfortunately Tutu was limited by his size, play strength, and physicality. He can strive under a different system as he proved to play well when both Kupp and Puka were out 2 years ago, but honestly not our problem to worry about anymore. I think McVay has more so figured out the traits he wants in a WR as he has since not taken a chance on a WR built like Tutu.

Tutu and Tavon are completely different players. The only commonality is their small stature and top end speed. Austin was actually way more physical and a much better runner once he got the ball in his hands. Tutu is by far a better pure receiver. He is a much better route runner with good hands. On thing Tutu lacks is yak ability. He is fine if he can win with pure sped but his elusiveness and ability to break tackles is below average. If you could have combined the open field running ability of Austin with Tutu's pass catching we would have something.
I always really liked him on medium crossers. He was always open on those and could be explosive.
The Rams tried to run those a couple of times the last few weeks and pressure usually ruined those.
But, he did go down a lot on a hint of contact.

Maybe, maybe not.
Im not from the school of thought as any coach being beyond question. That seems to be a theme on here sometimes.
Question anything they do and somehow you should be shit on.
Time will tell, as it always does.
Kupp may be totally washed or he might end up hoisting a trophy with someone else.....who knows?
McVay has eluded to not using him enough.
So it goes.

Why even have a discussion then?
If that is the approach there is zero point in having a board to have discussions.
This is a continuation of an ancient and well-worn discussion. And just like with Tavon, the micro sized threat will move on to be "underutilized" with another team. Thank fuck.

Angry Merlin.
It will be interesting to see if he gets any interest and what kind of money he gets.
I think he will be disappointed with the offers he gets.
I suspect he will end up either as a role piece in someplace like KC, or with an ex Ram coach in Minnesota or Jacksonville or some such place.
In fact, I am interested to see what several Rams attract in FA.....along with Tutu, Hoecht, Witherspoon and Robinson are interesting to me as I could see any of those attracting a relatively large raise.....or not much interest at all.
Hoecht would seem the one most likely to get a large payday.

He's gonna shine bright somewhere else. Always had those clutch, tough catches for a little guy. I'm a Tu-Tu fan forever.

I liked Tutu as well.
I though there was a role for him on the offense that wasn't really exploited.....but, its just a role because of his limitations.
Only so many balls to go around.

It gets comical the continuing comments how McVay doesn't know how to coach somebody or utilize a player. Or Snead screws up picks or doesn't draft well. Oh wow the comments about how we were doomed because Brad Holmes was the brains behind the Snead face and hair.

And we would have beaten Philly with Saquon Barkley. As they say “Hind sight is always 20/20”.
Well we had a 100% chance at getting that center in the draft and a much smaller chance getting Barkley last year.

Well, I doubt the idea was to draft a guy early in draft to not use for him for long stretches at a time.

Or perhaps the player simply didn't take to the coaching or want to play his role or wasn't capable of playing his role. It's easy to blame the coaching and overlook a players deficiencies. Not every draft pick hits and not every player lives up to the fan bases hopes. Doesn't mean the GM or Coach are bad or screwed up. Shit happens but by all means keep blaming our SB winning coach it's good entertainment.
