I'm not against Cooks. Maybe McVay wants to throw the ball and open up all levels to open the run.

But it's not the move I'd make. But, I'll reserve judgement until I see the post deadline look.

Oh he wants to throw the ball alright. This feels like a "fuck Cam gonna show everyone that the pass game is the key" type deal.

I suspect it's hubris. And btw yes you can use the pass to open up the ground game but not when your OL is springing leaks. When your OL is struggling the tried and true method is running the ball to balance things and allow the OL to fire off instead of being besieged.

I'm not disagreeing one bit! One thing I reaaaalllly wish is that when targeting OL, that they'd target the mean, alpha dudes. Seems like even though you might not be a "better" OL than the DL, if you're a mean MFer and bully, you're gonna dominate.

I didn't write it guys lol I particularly don't get it unless we know van is one good hit away or obj will be December or even just not coming back. Don't understand it myself. I will say it's starting to pop up more and it's says cooks wants to comeback to LA and is willing to eat money. This just gets stranger and stranger.

I'm team edge I'm team let's win and team I trust in Mcsnead as I said above but there's got to be a reason here as it's not adding up.

Not for nothing is take Hamler to be honest but cooks cap hit this year is so tiny that maybe that factors in??????? Calling all capologists please come to the front!!!

I know we are known for trading but we are tied to so many people we could field a new team after the deadline or kick the chargers out and play split squad!!!

Who is your edge opposite Floyd next year and how are you getting them?
Sadly the time to address this without killing the team is come and passed, our organization should have made some moves when they found out Von wasn't coming back or they should have matched the guaranteed years the Bills gave him. (3 instead of 2) since we gave him more per year. So we burned a 2nd and 3rd round pick trying to be cute with a NFL league premier pass rusher.
No trade for a premier pass rusher but you'd be willing to give up draft capital for a running back?
I hate to break the news to you but those 6th and 7th rounders aren't to valuable and the numbers back that up.

What between 8-9 % stay with us? Do we have 10 6th or 7th rounders this next years so one works out for us?

Same goes with even starting in that rookie contract.

Stop.
Chubb will cost too much for an injury plagued player. Would nit feel good coughing up millions for him.

Burns does not appear to be injury prone and thus if your going for a big name and sacrificing more high picks, then I would go for him.
Why I'd only give up minimal picks to someone like Chubb already in a contract year.

I'd stay pat and grab a pass rusher next draft or trade for one in the off season. It was a joke even thinking that Lewis/Hollins would suffice which I eluded to in May.

She kind of did ... a little bit. Below is a tweet from earlier today.

As far as trading Robinson, there are usually bad cap implications when a team trades a player it just signed to a big contract.

Regarding the Brandin Cooks situation…while it’s true that he still has close friendships with several Rams players/coaches, my understanding is that his salary situation is a complete non-starter in current form. Would imagine a few teams would like to get creative with that.

Tried finding it best I could do but either way I trust in Mcsnead but to say I'm puzzled is an understatement.

Four years of a cheap starter is very valuable. Boosting them to get a comp pick to replace the pick used on them is even more valuable. Them not resigning always with the drafting team doesn't really change anything.

No on Cooks zero need and too much $ too old.

This is the BEST option for a blockbuster trade. If Houston says yes to Tunsil trade we do it. We get a 28 year old 2 time pro bowler (top 5 LT a better Whit) that is in his prime that will cost us 600k this year + loads of draft picks and 18.5m next year prior to a long term deal. He solves needing a LT for 5-10 years see Whit who was 40. Plus 18.5m prior to a renegotiation is fantastic for this caliber LT. We take the guess work out of if Jackson or Noteboom is the answer and we upgrade the weakest key area on the team.

If Tunsil won't work I go for Burns first due to age/productivity not at 2 1sts. Then Chubb for a reasonable deal because unless their are other suitors Denver could lose him this off-season and recoup nothing for him. So if no other bidders we could squeeze them they love Browning and they spent for Gregory. Not sure they want to pay Chubb in a bidding situation next off-season. I only do Chubb if 1st the deal is fair not crazy and we can get a long term 3 years for him so we do not get caught in a Von situation.

Not sure there is anything else worth it. Wynn or AJ Cann maybe not sure if that is a for sure upgrade.

A for sure IOL upgrade is Teller or Bitonio from Cleveland. Me if we could get Bitonio we are cooking with gas. He is a great LG rated top 2 at his position and playing actually better than Nelson so far this year. Edwards and Noteboom are the weak links on the line IMO. Teller is a fabulous RG top 3 maybe Cleveland let's one of the two go for a solid draft package. With their season toast even Watson when he comes back won't help.

After this not sure anything makes sense - Kamara the player not the deal would be great. Hunt his personal pedigree me I would stay away from but that's only me.

Rest of the names forget.

Nothing against Cooks but this is crazy. Yes he'd help us but holy F do we have issues that should be prioritized above another wideout.

And yes I trust McVay. Of course I do. But he's human and has a sick fascination with collecting wideouts.
If true what does that say about McVay's two 2nd round draft selections (Atwell/Jefferson) sitting on the bench collecting dust?

If this is the case then Rams should trade all their 2nd round picks into the far future so McVay will not look as stupid as he would IF he made this purposed trade.:explode1:

IF made Cooks is nothing more than a well-traveled well used WR that will not be anything more than a 3rd WR @ best!:sick2:

Yeah, and I saw that.

It was reported by Mike Florio, who many posters were calling an asshole a couple days ago for suggesting that some Rams' players may be tuning-out McVay and his 'schtick'.

The report also stated that ... 'Cooks is willing to take less guaranteed money in 2023 in order to return to L.A'
That seems a little goofy. Cooks signed a two-year extension six months ago that was mostly fully guaranteed ($39.7M, and $36M guaranteed). I suppose he could re-work the deal but when was the last time a player gave-up guaranteed money?

The pass-blocking has been poor. Stafford doesn't have time, and is taking to many hits. The run-blocking has also been poor; and the Rams are low on running backs. No one is effectively rushing off the edge. Jefferson is coming back. Robinson finally had a productive game.

So let's add a Wide Receiver with a big contract! I don't know. It's the Rams, so anything is possible.

God bless him, from what I remember of Cooks—he was a speedy, concise route runner, but didn’t have the hands to haul in a lot of his targets. Hard pass for me.
