What I choose to believe, whether it is true or not, is that the Rams were not at all interested in CMC, but got into the bidding to drive the price way up for the 49ers. That thought makes me smile.

All this RB talk just reminds me that we did draft a RB that seems like a perfect fit for our system. He just cannot stay on the field past ONE special teams snap. That said, he's rumored to be back soon. Just wish we could have seen him play at all in the preseason to have some inkling of an idea what we have in him.
Would be nice but he's a rookie with literally no game experience. I'm going to give the guy time to get acclimated before trying to judge if he's good or not.

For a RB like him, this is what it will take. We traded a 5th and 6th with a possibility it could become a 4th for Sony Michel and he's an inferior RB.
That Sony trade was bad process lol. If we trade more for Hunt I'll be okay but trading high picks for players teams won't even have the next year is no bueno

But that makes trading for Hunt even more puzzling. We can't really afford to extend a vet RB, that likely wants paid.

Not sure who you are answering, but since your post followed mine by a couple of minutes, I'll just add this :

I'm personally not interested in Hunt, I've been expressing my hopes for D'Ernest Johnson.

Yeah but we shouldn't stand pat either. We need reinforcements and a RB that is a dual threat and can pass block so Stafford doesn't get killed is a good add in my eyes.

I wouldn't mind D'Ernest Johnson either if the asking price is crazy for Hunt.

That's coach talk for, Nobody really wants him.
Sure sounds like it, although it could be that teams know the Rams need to dump him and are only offering draft swaps with little to no value so he figures either offer a real trade or Akers can rot on the bench for all he cares....

IMO, it's not just Cleveland's asking price, but I doubt we'll want to pay his higher CAP costs for that new contract. jmo.

I'm not necessarily worried about that part yet lol, but would him signing elsewhere get us a comp pick? If it does, I say go for it. Besides, the RB free agency market gonna be deep and the NFL devalues his position. I doubt he gets a huge offer.

Snead claims to carefully evaluate college players, not just on the physical traits but also on if they fit the culture. I’m guessing that means unselfish, intelligent, good people.

Does Hunt fit with this theme or is he automatically removed from the trade prospect list?

Hell I hope they simply bite the bullett and keep the draft picks. We have Henderson, Rivers and soon Williams. We have lots of backup lineman getting valuable experience. We have a division that is probably going to be won with a 9-8 record. Work with what you have, use that genius IQ and get to the postseason. Anything can happen. Reload next year. That Lombardi won't tarnish much in the trophy case.

So those teams with good offenses, O lines and QBs, only need to be pressured in order to be defeated? That's what we need most? How's that been working for the rest of the league?

To be perfectly honest we shouldn't waste any draft capital on an edge rusher. Our bread & butter, calling card and identity under McVay has been our offense. We had a terrific D in 2018. How'd that turn out?

The way you beat the Kansas City's and Buffalo's is outscore them. I realize that's going to be tough to accomplish unless we have a distinct turnaround of O line play but don't fool yourself into thinking an edge rusher pressuring Mahomes or Allen is going to win the game.

No dude come on you know better than that you give a trash QB time they can pick you apart imagine mid level to upper echelon qbs.

Also adding pressure guy if it's a good one helps containing the run sealing the edge bit most importantly can provide I'll advised throws strip sacks etc.

That gives the offense more possessions so if the offense improves then that's great but if they still struggling to score you can still win ugly 17-9 20-17 etc.

Help the better unit the defense to help the inferior unit that may just need health and sure a RB like Johnson for a 6tj or go with the two we have etc.

And if he's lost to free agency and we still get a comp pick of some nature in 2024, do you really believe that he alone will drive us successfully thru the play-offs this season ? And if we lose him, we would still only have 1 RB next year, the completely untested Kyren Williams as all our other guys hit free agency. At what expense do you see his half-season rental being worth it ?

The way the Rams are approaching this concerns me. It seems to insinuate they are not certain Akers is done. This is unlike them. If you're not sure then play him more until you know. Then if he's not the same guy you cut him.

The reason a RB makes sense now is that every one of them outside of Williams will be entering free agency once the season ends. I'd rather not be in a position where we need to use more than 1 draft pick in order to restock.
But be honest here River the RB room is not good for the here and now either. And since we're on the eve of a massive divisional game that will help determine whether we are in things this year, the complete lack of threat from this backfield is a problem. And has been a problem.

Current depth chart is Henderson > Brown > Akers. The first two RBs are the precise same two who in 2018 who could not handle the load and resulted in us needing to go get Anderson. Because Gurley was going through all that knee pain shit and we needed someone to step up. This is why I know Henderson is a mirage. This is how I know we're up shit creek if Akers is done. This is how I feel like I'm on crazy pills when it's 4 years later and it's the exact same problems.

Are we in things this year as far as the Rams are concerned? Because if we are it seems to me that they're behind the 8 ball in getting another back in here to handle shit. It really pisses me off man. And one of the biggest games right in our face when we need help from that backfield to beat the 9ers this should be a done deal.

We have been pretty lucky with injuries in the past not so much this year. Depending on the player I'm ok with doing what it takes to win now that the core is on tact.

Won't help much to have another year go by and everyone of the core high paid Rams are rendered a little less useful or one of them get injured.

Also no team wins a Superbowl without some sort of pass rush like ever. So

no sacks/pressures = no chance

Gotta take a risk somewhere. That's how we won it all last year.

Apparently the Von Miller syndrome is running rampant.

I am not a fan of how things ended up but we probably don't win against the niners without him and so on.
