If Gaines doesn’t heal up he’ll come cheap.

Do players drop off a cliff like that? His drop is precipitous. Maybe he knows the Bears are going nowhere and he got his last contract. If the Bears ate some of the money and he came to the Rams he may find the motivation to play well again.

But he is more of a pass rusher and less of an edge setter. He and AD are buddies though.

He’s been playing with an injured shoulder
I'm aware on Gaines about the shoulder thing.. but I don't know how recently that happened and his play hasn't been up to last year's level at any point this season. So, I don't know.

Pass rushers do often fall off a cliff at that age... 32.

Yeah- but Bobby Brown showed the HEART I was looking for in training camp & the preseason. His injury was what I liked because he learned to play through pain & pushed himself.

IMO - Bobby Brown is very underrated & is a ascending player with Huge Upside
Here's what I know about Bobby Brown has played 27 snaps in regular season play since being drafted 2 yrs ago. Brown has only 1 tackle. I do not see what you see here.

But I sure hope you are right & I am dead wrong.:fistbump::)

Sebastian Joseph Day did not play a single down his rookie season.

What was Gaines up until last season?

You may end up having to take the best of mediocre options. Just can't overpay, especially with money left on his deal.
I guess the question is whether he's healthy.. and if he is, why is his production so far off last year. If he's just fallen off a cliff... pass.. but I'm not a professional personnel guy, so I couldn't tell you.

I'd say these reasons play a part:

1. His age could be catching up

2. His team is awful like awful and just no life

3. Most important one of all there is nobody on his defense. Mack gone Hicks gone at his age not hard to take him out of the game especially if his motor is slightly depleted and just doesn't want to be on a lackluster team.

Having said that I'd take him for cheap and a last resort but need to know he really didn't hate LA and Mcvay beef squashed or that it was just anger talking at the time.

Showing heart in training camp means nothing. Bobby needs to show that with good play on the field. Hopefully he does because it makes easier to move on from Gaines or Robinson if they demand too much. Not saying he can't be good, but I'd feel a lot better if he displayed that talent on GameDay. In the end, the Rams will figure it out.

My thought here on DT Robinson is he will be looking for one serious pay raise. This upcoming contract will be his 3rd. He is a legit starter on a SB championship team with a well-known rep for run stuffer who can play in a 43 or 34 DL. He will get some very large offers in March.

Greg Gaines will not get the offers that Robinson will. But even so, the Rams will be working hard to have him return. Bobby Brown has hardly seen any action now well into his 2nd season. Not sure that he will see much behind the 3 starters & 2 relievers Copeland/Williams. Morris likes Brown @ the 3 tech post where AD has plays.

I would bet that Rams will see both Robinson & Gaines depart :crying:not because they don't want them but because they can not afford to pay them what they can get elsewhere.

Both of these below-projected market values are far below their real worth IMO.

I believe Snead/Demoff will be trying very hard to get one of these guys back under contract, most likely Gaines being 2 years younger, but the reason for my post was all about one of them becoming trade deadline fodder, as these 2 may offer our best value in the event we choose to go after a young top notch player like Burns to add to our squad.

Yep. It’s just like the first days of free agency all over again.

I don’t know why we do it. It’s not like we won’t find out soon after it happens anyway.

I'd be down for bringing back Quinn. Him and Donald are real good friends, I think just having those 2 together again might spring some life into his play. Low risk/decent to good reward type thing.

I agree, who knows if we'll still be breathing in 10 minutes, I want to die with at least a smile on my face. Ottoman could get eaten by one of his pigs who has a hankering for Busch Lite, I could notice a lost blunt on the floor and in my haste to retrieve it, trip over the entire kilo that's next to it.

I could die tripping over a pig after taking a big rip and chasing it with another Busch light! Never know!!!

Either way die happy!

Seems like he's an intense DAWG that we need.

His age is what has me excited for him. Thought the same about Cam Akers because of how his rookie year went. Then coming back from his knee injury early kept me still believing.

What I saw & heard in training camp. Seeing how much he didn’t want to block & be a team(we) player is sad.

Well, your stats are right, but I’m a Raheem Morris fan. You know what he says about stats.

I’m a believer in the guy who runs the DL show & AD99 kept a photo of him in his pad.If The Rams lose him they are in trouble? Bill Johnson I thought was a good coach back in his day. Things have changed.

He did in preseason playing hurt & knowing he was going to be suspended for 4(5) games. 6’4 320 & what 21 or 22 years old?

Yeah ok 2 season of playing with AD99 means nothing. A’ Robinson is mentoring this season & you’ll see the difference.

This might not be his season, but he will show more than nothing & enough to get The Rams front office about his 3rd & 4th season.

You know I’ve heard all the A’ Robinson crap his first 2 season & he helped The Rams win a Superbowl. The time off he took actually helped The Rams sign him for at least this season.

BTW - he is a big peace of the DLine Depth. The Rams are lucky he didn’t didn’t need to be called on like the CB’s & O’Line.

I go back to the Old NFL draft with rookies signing those huge contracts having less experience than Bobby Brown.
