He's much better than Huff. That's why I'm hesitant to sign Huff; he's just absolutely atrocious against the run. The issue with Uche is that he hasn't really played a whole season, but when he did, he had twelve sacks.

So like Huff plays offense for the other team? Cause from what I understand, Uche is really really horrible at run defense.

But he can at least cover and try to tackle. Huff can't do anything but rush the passer, albeit really well.

Is anyone concerned with Snead's comments that they're going to be disciplined approach in the 1st wave of FA.

Hard to parse those tea leaves? Is he saying they won't spend big there? That they'll wait till the 2nd round to go after people?

Or maybe that they'll have their targets but won't throw the kitchen sink at them so may lose them to other bidders (my suspicion is such). And then go bargain shopping in later round of FA.
My guess is they’d rather have 4 very good reasonably priced FAs vs 2 expensive studs.

Hunter is almost certainly going to be the best pass rusher who hits FA. Issue is his age. He turns 30 next year. You're almost certainly going to have to give him guaranteed money that'll basically keep him on the roster through his age-32 (if not age-33) season. It's a risky proposition. I'd lean towards Bryce Huff.

Why Huff? He's only about to turn 26 years old, has been one of the NFL's most productive pass rusher on a per-snap basis, and should be cheaper than the top dogs in FA. I think Huff is a lot like Shaq Barrett. He's been stuck playing a rotational role, but when he's finally given a chance to start, he's going to be a very productive pass rusher. His run defense won't be great, but you can deal with that issue if he's a guy who gives you 10+ sacks and a lot of pressure.

The dark horse to watch out for is Khalil Mack. The Chargers are in a cap hole, and they may not be able to keep Mack and Bosa. It's possible they trade Bosa instead of Mack, but with Mack being the older player, I could see him being on the trade market this offseason.
The chargers have paid Bosa a lot of money to watch games.

I tend to agree. If we come out of free agency with a good edge, a good corner, a good guard and a receiver 3 I consider that a massive win.

Uche and Huff are similar in that they give you a rush specialist type to make your depth chart not so bad going into the draft. But I think Uche will be cheaper than Huff, and I also think Uche moves better in space which matters given that we seem to end up with our edge 20+ yards downfield at reasonable frequency. Though that said both of them are best served rushing on that passing down where they end up on the field.

I would love to see Bryce Huff in horns. 10 sacks while playing a limited role (Jets defense is talented and deep) and he is young. I think he may come a little cheaper than Hunter who would also be a great addition. In no way do I even consider Chase Young, his coaches in Washington said he is uncoachable, just does his own thing in search of splash plays. As far as Allen and Burns go, they will be franchised and I would not pay up 2 1sts just to sign them to Donald type money. A Dotson resigning would be great but not at the expense of paying elite money for half season of great work. If he's looking for more than 8-10M a year let him walk but that would unfortunately change our draft plans. Sure wouldn't bother me though if we found another Avila with our second round pick this year. Does everybody hear understand that the MAIN reason for success this year was due to drastically improved and stellar o-line play after the bye week? NEVER underestimate the importance of a good o-line. Snead would be THE TARGET but at what price and I don't think Johnson makes it to free agency. Bears got money and will franchise him or just pay him, they would be stupid to let him walk, he's a building block of a good young defense there. If we could get Dotson, D. Robinson, Shelton (in addition to Huff) to sign somewhat team-friendly deals we could target CB in the 1st, D-line depth, ILB (I love some Payton Wilson), K, WR, RB in the later rounds. It's kind of nice going into the off-season with some real options without glaring needs. Hell, I wouldn't even complain about a Wentz resigning and push the future QB situation to next draft. I think Stafford has at least 2 more seasons if we keep him upright and who knows, maybe he turns in a Brady-like finish to his career if we can keep him upright. No matter what happens, we sure like we have a better future than what we were looking at last off-season. Go RAMS!
Got to say I agree with every point I hope we resign Dotson at less than most keep projecting he keeps continuity. I want one big splash in FA and that would be Hunter even though he is a lot older than Burns or Allen he won't cost us any8 and retain that very valuable 1st rounder. If we did go after Burns or Allen I only want Allen Burns had 2 more pressures than Hoecht this season.

The #19 gives us an immediate starter at CB or C or possibly LT or OLB.

I think Hunter makes a ton of sense. Its been rumored that we have liked him for a few years now and have considered trading for him. He's already very production and will get the Donald boost with us. He's a vet who can contribute day 1 to our hopes of getting another ring. Won't need to waste any capital in a trade. Also, it frees up the 1st round pick for a CB or OL help. Win Win for us.

I think Hunter is overrated but I'd be fine with the Rams adding him. It's an enormous need, so even though I don't expect him to play up to whatever we pay him on the market, we'd be a much better defense for his addition.

Also I would not trade for any Edge this offseason. Because I think we are going to have excellent options in this draft and trading for a top edge will be multiple picks. Fuck that. We've suffered this long, so let's take a shot on one in the draft barring a UFA type who actually hits the market.

Byron Young should be much improved in 2024.Still it’s still such a need.

I hope so too but he was one of the oldest rookies in the NFL this year. Young will be 26 next season.
Yeah - but if you really think about what a late bloomer he is & his skill set I’d say his upside is there.

He’s a freak & his age is the last thing I’d be worried about.

—What’s your thoughts on Kendrick? He has 2 more years on his contract & is still only 23 years old.Tre Tomlinson is 24

I'm in 100% agreement on not trading for one. That's a 2 sided sword of losing valuable draft picks (i.e. cheap contracts of skilled players) and paying a guy a boat load.

By most metrics, Hunter was pretty dang excellent last year, though, I admittedly didn't get to see him play myself often.
