This is far from a remodel.

I hear ya, man. It always amazes me how often we humans can get into unnecessary conflict because in our heads we define certain words in different ways. MJD might define "rebuild" in one way, and you might define "rebuild" a second way, and I might define "rebuild" in yet a third way. So oftentimes it's not that one person is "right" and another person is "wrong", it's just that we have different emotional attachments to the meanings of specific words. "Rebuild" is a word that can have a variety of different meanings to different people.

All I know is... the optimistic side of me hopes that 2023 will be a year when the Rams address their cap issues in order to prepare for another Lombardi run in 2024 with AD, MS, and CK leading the way.

The pessimistic side of me worries that the overhaul the Rams are doing is so drastic that it will take multiple years for us to recover.

So when Snead says "remodel", does he mean it's a "one year thing" or a "multiple year thing"? I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

McSnead knows that AD and MS are nearing the very end of their careers. My GUESS is that they want to do everything in their power to maximize the chance those 2 can have a legit chance to win it all again as soon as 2024, before they retire. All we can do as fans is wait to see how it all plays out.
I look at it as a course correction. We were another kick the can big, spend off-season away from becoming the Saints and having -$70M of cap space in 24'. Or perpetually being in the hole and not being able to really have a load up yr.

This corrects that direction. They will have back to back drafts when they should bring in 20 plus draft picks and signicant cap room in 24' & 25'.

That's when they can make another run. Now the problem is the QB is 35 and who really knows how healthy he is or will be in 2 or 3 yrs?

So the 2nd phase of this plan is identifying a future QB...whether it be via draft or in FA down the road in 24' or 25' when a vet comes free in the annual QB FA derby that often occurs.

Still think they can get things going this yr and win 10 games for a WC, but if Stafford stays healthy for 24' then next yr could be promising in a weak NFC.

Maybe it was Fisher that drafted all the top end talent we had???

Not sure if that should be in blue font or not.

Traded a lot of picks for veterans, too bad most of the vets are gone already. Now we have gaping holes where our draft picks would be. Fuck them picks. But we have a SB and now it's time to rebuild.

Every year there's a surprise team and a shocking team (which the Rams were this year)

So who in the NFL is going to be a force?
Philly?
Dallas?
NY Giants?
Green Bay?
Minnesota?
Detroit?
San Fran?
The NFC South winner?

That's 9 possible playoff teams so we have to be better than 3 of them to get in.

It’s called lossing that gets you all those draft picks & talent.

Franchising Tru Johnson twice is not having a lot of CB’s or to much talent.

I’ll go back to just get a good young OC give him the keys. Not like Rob Ryan throwing them back to you or waiting for BOUNTY-WILLIAMS.
Get a good OC keep Nick Foles & Case Keenum. Those draft picks & salary cap could get a good TE & WR. LT beside drafting Robinson trade back.

Hard not to have talent when you trade a first rd #2 pick. Get it back & ALL THOSE draft Picks not to have talent.
Not having a winning record with all that talent is hard to do unless your a Crappy HC!!

By contrast, the Rams are keeping bedrock players in their franchise QB in MS, the GOAT of DT's in AD, and the freakishly good CK, not to mention a coaching prodigy in McVay.
Bedrock players? Stafford and AD likely done after 2024, Kupp? He'll be up for extension and at age 32, and a history of injury might not be back either.
So Im confused with the message, we'll tear it down, follow a poor '22 with a meek '23 to chase a championship in '24, to then watch the whole thing crumble? Would be nice if we had a young core that had some long term potential

Gotta admit you make some good points.

If you had to guess, what do you think the McSnead plan is?

My heart hopes the plan is to go for it all in 2024, but I have to admit that plan is not sustainable given the ages of MS and AD.

If they have a great offseason it could be a reload. If not it is probably a rebuild.

But we are still ground zero here. So for now I have some hope.

Tell me how many experts expected us in the playoffs in McVay's first season.

Getting rid of 3 star players on Defense with the 5th and 6th best players up for renewal on Defense then add your 2nd best wr has been given permission to seek a trade, we lost our top flight kicker, rumors Stafford is/was on the block, zero splash FA signings as of day 2, and none remotely in site if that isn't a rebuild I don't know what one is. MJD calls it a rebuild now, Ellenbogen calls it a rebuild now everyone should be resigned to the fact that we are in a rebuild mode.

We as fans can't count on players drafted contributing significantly in year 1. Tutu, Rapp, Van none lit it up year 1 I contend all three have been marginal.
Exactly. Can't count on the oline. The running game has been MIA for some time except a handful of throwaway games at the end of last year. Other than Kupp, the WRs have done not much to distinguish themselves. Same story with tight ends. Our QB had a great Super Bowl run but had a sore arm then a spinal contusion. We are losing defensive players at a rapid clip-- Ramsay, Wagner, Floyd, almost certainly A'Shawn. Even you, Matt Gay?

Some of us have been saying for quite some time that this is, has to be, can only be a rebuild.

Just looking at the OL what if they have good health this season. Could happen.

What if Bruss fills that RG job well. Could happen.

Maybe Jackson locks down LT.

We are not looking at fucking impossibility here. Sure we are not a contender. But who says fire and brimstone are certain. You and Ellenbogen. Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

Listening to that clown is half your problem here.

We may lose 17 games. Everything may go wrong. But I am never interested in entertaining defeatist fucks like Ellenbogen, who doesn't know shit, when the offseason is just beginning.

I think that they must be entirely convinced that the team is much better than it appeared. I dont think there's any way they would be satisfied with a repeat performance in preparation for a future season.
I dont know how they could believe that, but they know more then we do.

Maybe McCutcheon is the stud he appeared to be in silly preseason. We didnt even scratch the surface on Kyren Williams, and Akers came on strong at the end of the year.
Everything that could go wrong last year did, and I truly believe that had they not coughed up the game to Tampa Bay, things would have gone differently

I just hope the team is competitive next year. Last year felt like a Fisher year.. no offense, no excitement, no expectations, and no fun. And hopefully they can reload in 2024 with those high draft picks.

We allowed almost 21 points per game. Our offense was worse but they were devastated by injury. Maybe they figure "almost 60 million a year for 3 defenders who allow 3 TDs per game is money not well spent. We could spend a lot less and not do much worse." Or maybe it's just the bill arriving.

100% agree, we win that TB game, which we absolutely should have, things could have been very very different.

Yea snead saying this was a remodel was a joke. This is a rebuild and I'm personally out on the rams until they show me they're actually trying to win.

Higbee the next domino to fall?
I just dont see how that makes any sense, I'd extend him before I traded him. Can save cap that way too.
He isnt great, but he's still a top 15 TE, and with the 2 draft busts behind him, Hopkins and Long and their combined 9 career catches in 5 seasons, there shouldnt be any confidence in them improving the situation

Unless your franchise QB has a different OC every year and then gets injured.

He was the opposing head coach in the SB for the GSOT win so not all that crappy.
