If AD insists on QB money which the Rams can't do, would you entertain a trade for Jadaveon Clowney?

Is Clowney signing a long term that cost 75% of what Donald will get? Of course he won’t.

Clowney is going to break the bank too.

I say we keep the best player - let the holdout slip into the season if necessary and squeeze him into a contract we can live with. Take the short term loss for the long term gain.

I voted yes just for the fact that I don't believe anyone is untouchable. I didn't see a good deal for AD listed, but I would absolutely entertain the idea of trading him for a bounty of picks. The Hoodie proved a lot of guys over value themselves to the club. As good as JJ Watt, Geno Atkins and Suh are, those teams didn't win squat with them being one man wrecking crews. A dominant interior player is only worth so much IMO. If AD doesn't want to sign to a number that accommodates the Ram's cap, you gotta start looking at plan B.

People are forgetting we can't trade for Clowney as we don't have the cap space to take on his contract even if we're getting did of Donald's contract. But even we couldn't there's no way in hell I'm trading the best defensive player in football.

Clowney and pick(s) including a first? And a Suh extension?
Yep. Not without a first rd pick though.

Clowney is an UFA a year from now. Wouldn't pay him unless he stay healthy and produces.

I'm sorry for Clowney? NIGH!!!

I'd trade him to the Browns, 1. for being an asshole in the contract negotiations 2. They probably would give us a good haul 3. I have not paid attention to that DE they got from Texas Tech, did he do good last year? If so I'd trade for him and picks. He has many years left on that rookie contract. 4. They have plenty of cap room and only face us once every 4 years or so.

Nope, and I wouldn't imagine any team would accept my asking price for him either.

I couldn't do it straight up, but with no injury, and a high draft pick, yes. So, I didn't vote.

H.ell no.We are not even close to such a desperation move. We'v got AD's @ss for three more years. He will cave and take 25 million a year.

No way the rams are offering $25m per year. Maybe $21m to $22m per year.

I don’t think Rams consider a trade before the 2018 season.

If AD plays all or part of 2018 without a new deal, then they consider a trade in 2019, prior to the draft.

All in all, hard to imagine that AD would hurt his own cause enough to miss multiple regular season games...

Dear Aaron,

Right now you are quite possibly the most Respected and Loved Ram of all time.

We know you are WORTH 30M a year.

But we need the Lombardi. Only you can end the ugly path this is going down.

If you can help us out here, your Legend will surpass what you do on the field.

You will forever be cheered by Ram Fans with the deepest gratitude that can be known.

No, he isn't.

Not in the current Salary Cap NFL.

That would be over 1/6 of the available resources. Spent on a great defensive player, but still a player who is in there about 70% of defensive plays, or approximately 35% of total plays. One out of 22 starters on the team, with multiple other players getting time, plus special teams. With the rules being adjusted over the years to favor the offense - especially passing offense - so that by far the most important player for team success is the QB. In order for a DT/DE in a 3/4 to be worth $30 million he would have to dominate in a way that no NFL player has ever dominated, basically flinging the OL around like they were high schoolers and getting to the QB on almost every passing play, while making it impossible to run anywhere close to him. But while AD is great, he's not even vaguely that great. And if he's intent on being paid like that, if he believes he is that much more valuable than everybody else, then he is the problem and the Rams are probably best off getting value for him, and letting others make a team destroying mistake.

id be of a mind to trade for Donald but only for a plethora of picks and or players

clowney is a great player but when we played them last year he had a strong first half and we neturalisd him... for the rest of the game we made him a non factor ,,, i haven't seen anyone do that AD

i want Donald to sign and be a ram for the rest of his career ... but not at the expense of the team and if he and or his agent want to play hardball ,, id seriously tag his backside till he is 30 and see if he gets his 30 mill a year at that age

If you trade him, you trade him for cheap, high draft picks. Maybe if a team has a decent 5 technique to fill his role, you throw him in as a short term replacement as well, but you take high picks that can save you money for 4 years.

Yes - because you have to think about Jared Goff & building of the Franchise .

Then again The Rams are in control if Donald’s contract.

I want AD back more than anything. But if he wants $25M and will hold out then maybe we really need to think about this differently.

Some forget he's 27 already right now. There's a CHANCE last year or this year are his best years. Just saying.... I love the dude but we have too good of a future to burn it down for one player. Even if he might be the best DT ever, and yea there is that chance.

If a deal cant be worked out, in would only trade him for draft picks or young players still on their rookie contract .

Clowney is playing on borrowed time. That jacked up knee isn't going to hold up. He's damaged goods.
