This was on Kayvon's snapchat this morning. I don't think he's throwing shade at AD but it is interesting. [GALLERY=media, 265]Screenshot_2017-09-02-07-49-11 by A.J. Hicks posted Sep 2, 2017 at 7:58 AM[/GALLERY]

Players get cut short of reaching their full deal all the time. Donald could hurt himself tomorrow and his career could be over. Never getting the money he's worth and likely being cut before he collects on the next two seasons. Players have to protect their investments

We have the perspective of a fan rooting for a team. The players don't have the same perspective. They have to look out for themselves. It's a cruel business where a team can/will cut you whenever it benefits them. While I wish he weren't holding out I understand why he is.

It's working just fine on my end. Maybe I need to change something in my settings?

For the same reason I was bitter at Orlando Pace, I now find myself even more so at Donald. He gets drafted, signs a 4 year deal with a 5th year team option. Gets a high guarantee, then after 3 years he wants a new monster deal going into a system that we are unsure if he will fit.

I know I'll catch some flak here, but I say trade him. Give him to a 4-3 team and build through the draft.

If he came in and played like crap I bet he would still want guaranteed money.

There is zero chance, that if I ran an organization that I would give into this. I would let his ass sit out. Don't get paid, miss those 8 games and lose the season, we will do over next year and the year after. Fact is, we have all the leverage. We don't need him to win games, he just helps like the next guy. We don't win for crap anyway, no other team in the league has his talents and yet they all tend to win more than us.

See ya as far as I'm concerned.
Or why would a team with Quinn and Donald and Brockers move away from the 4-3? Pay him.

This is such a mess of a topic not attacking you OP. So many sides and counter arguments. AD has absolutely outplayed his rookie deal I doubt you would find anybody who thinks otherwise. However the Rams have him under control for the next two years plus using the franchise tag on him and aren't under any obligation to give him a new contract at this point in time.

AD absolutely should look out for his own interest and get an extension that pays him like one of the top defensive players in the game taking care of his family for a very very long time. He really has nobody to blame for how little he's getting paid right now except his peers in the NFLPA. But if we look back at each of the last couple CBA's some group of players doesn't like the agreement. If you remember right we ended up with this rookie pay scale because rookie contracts were getting so stupid the highest paid players on a team were the 1st round picks not the players that had earned it over the years of playing well. They actually were hurt by it because high priced veterans were often cut because their salaries were too high to coexist with the rookie wages, teams had to save money somewhere to live with the cap.

I see a lot of people mention teams not living up to contracts by cutting people before their deal is over. Yes that's not cool. Nor is it good when a player signs a three year deal and lives up to the contract the first year then shits the bed and loses his starting job in the 2nd or 3rd year of a deal. Really both sides share the fault in that happening because a lot of players will sign deals that are loaded either at the front of the back so they can get their pay for a couple of years then as their play regresses the contract they signed makes it easier to move on from a failing player and pay a replacement. IMO a 5 year contract is a club and player saying ok you've been good here's a 5 year deal. Keep playing good and you'll be around for 5 years or we can cut you and only have to pay you the guaranteed money. Just as that player if he outperforms the deal can ask for a pay raise in a new deal or hold out or demand a trade.

Both sides have their grievances and both are viable.

Boom. Should be fixed for members to view. This was on Kayvon Webster's snapchat this morning. The two have never played together so I don't think he's throwing shade. But it is interesting none the less. [GALLERY=media, 265]Screenshot_2017-09-02-07-49-11 by A.J. Hicks posted Sep 2, 2017 at 7:58 AM[/GALLERY]

AD is single handedly trying to change a Players Union-NFL policy that was negotiated and agreed upon by both.

Rookie contracts were discussed and debated to determine length, duration and amount.

AD wants to change that without going through the CBA. When he was drafted and signed his contract with the Rams, he made a court binding obligation.

By holding out, he is hurting himself and undermining the players union.
