Jets will pay “whatever it takes” to get Kirk Cousins
Excellent opening negotiation salvo, Jets brass. You've got Cousins' agent quaking in his boots.

He'd be a good #3 TE for us.
Jerry, just curious, do you have high hopes Hemmingway can be a player?

I'm starting to see a pattern emerge. Despite the Niners "Dream Team" front office, it seems they have been losing out on a lot of players they have expressed interest in. The trend may not continue, but the stench Of Jed York may travel further than a county full of dead skunks.

According to 9 News Denver's Mike Klis, the Patriots and Broncos "have engaged" in trade talks involving Aqib Talib.

The 49ers also discussed a Talib deal

Goodwin had a great year but my goodness that's a lot of coin for a guy who's done so little over 5 years and missed so many games.

Seahawks to release Jeremy Lane
Posted by Charean Williams on March 8, 2018

The Seahawks are expected to release cornerback Jeremy Lane as they continue their defensive makeover, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports.

That will save Seattle $4.75 million in salary cap space.

The Seahawks traded Lane to the Texans as part of the Duane Brown deal, but Lane failed his physical and returned to Seattle.

Lane, 27, was arrested in January for DUI.

Seattle made Lane a sixth-round pick in 2012, and in six seasons, he has played 70 games with 21 starts. He is signed for two more years with non-guaranteed salaries of $6 million each

Titans release RB DeMarco Murray

Player Page
Unsigned Free Agent
Age / DOB: (30) / 2/12/1988
Ht / Wt: 6'1' / 220
College: Oklahoma
Drafted: 2011 / Rd. 3 (71) / DAL
Contract:
Titans released RB DeMarco Murray.
The move clears Murray's entire $6.5 million salary from the books, leaving behind no dead money. The Titans are now committed to on-the-rise third-year pro Derrick Henry as their lead back. Henry closed 2017 on a tear while (now) 30-year-old Murray appeared out of gas. Playing banged up, Murray averaged just 3.58 yards per carry. A violent runner, Murray has learned how to stay on the field after injury issues early in his career, but has taken a ton of punishment. He will hunt for committee work in free agency. Stedman Bailey - WR - Free Agent
Free agent WR Stedman Bailey worked out for scouts during Marshall's Pro Day.

Shot in the head in November of 2015, Bailey's career was thought to be over, but he is still hoping to make a return. "I know a lot of teams probably remember me and what type of player I was at the time," Bailey said. "I’m trying to prove that I am still that guy and probably even better. It’s all about proving it and capitalizing on the opportunities that are given to me." In addition to working out during Marshall's Pro Day, Bailey plans to participate in West Virginia's Pro Day, his alma mater, and perhaps Toledo's as well. Bailey caught 59 passes for 843 yards and two scores in three seasons before the incident.

Not a FA but a trade, Torrey Smith goes to Panthers. That may - MAY - mean the Panthers would be one less team looking to pay Sammy but they could try to pair the two.

Bengals tell Pacman he won’t be back without a pay cut

The Bengals will be moving on from Adam “Pacman” Jones, unless he takes a pay cut.

Jones, who was under contract for a $5.3 million base salary this season, has been told he won’t be back under that deal, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

However, Jones will be welcome back if he’s willing to compete for a roster spot as a nickel cornerback and punt returner — and if he’s willing to accept the kind of salary that comes with just competing for a roster spot.

Jones said he’s unsure if he’ll be back with the Bengals at a reduced price.

“I have to sit down and make decision with family,” he said.

Jones, who will turn 35 in September, played in nine games last season before suffering a season-ending sports hernia.

Dolphins will release Ndamukong Suh

It looks like the pool of free agent defensive tackles is going to be getting a big addition.

Jeff Darlington of ESPN reports that the Dolphins will release Ndamukong Suh and that the move could come as early as Monday. The possibility that Miami would move in that direction is one that’s been discussed often since the end of the regular season and a report last week indicated the team was still uncertain about what they planned to do.

Suh’s contract calls for a cap number of $26.1 million for 2018 and he has a $8.5 million bonus due next week. The Dolphins will only get $3.9 million back if he’s designated as a pre-June 1 cut. If the Dolphins make him a post-June 1 cut, which can’t happen until the league year starts on Wednesday, they will clear $17 million in cap space once we get to June.

Suh posted a video on Twitter early Monday from Seattle, where he said he was on his way to work out and that people should look for some “exciting news” later in the day. We’ll see if his location gives a hint about one place he may be interested in landing once he is free to talk to other teams and there’s sure to be a fair amount of interest in a player who will be near the top of our free agent rankings if he does become one this week.
