I believe the smoke. I think the Rams are trying to make a change under center.

And I think it comes down to either work ethic, processing speed, or both.

The decision making just hasnt progressed as much as it should. When he knows where to put it, Goff has an elite arm. But he doesn’t see it as often as it seems he should and it costs us sacks and turnovers.

I think McV wants a sharper mind at QB. But I am just guessing.

I’m beginning to think mcvays lady friend must have moaned Jared’s name at an inopportune moment

Haha, this is best line of the thread! Whatever it is, it’s hard to understand what the FO and McVay are thinking from a strategic or tactical standpoint.

Edit: when I said strategic/tactical standpoint, I mean in terms of their throwing Jared under the bus if they’re trying to trade him issue, not an X-O’s standpoint.

A better trade would be.....The Packers trade Rodgers to a team for picks, players, whatever they can get

The Rams trade Goff to GB for Jordan Love and MVS.

Goff played well when LeFleur was here, perhaps he would be interested. I don't know what kind of relationship they have.
So the Rams would be better off with Jordan Love at QB than Jared Goff?

The most interesting thing about this Goff/Mcvay/Snead debacle is how fans have polarized it. I feel like there's both irrational hate and irrational love for Jared, irrational hate and irrational denial about Mcvay, and we're all over the place about Snead.

I dunno if I've ever seen a non superstar player cause this level of divide among fans. Maybe it's because we've gone way too long having below average or injuried or both QBs. So an average yet steady and uninjured goff feels safer in a lot of ways? Idk but it's interesting.

What would lead you to question his work ethic? 2019 & 2020 plenty of articles about Goff's off season conditioning, and how he is stronger, put on weight etc. Then plays thru a broken thumb in game that he was able to rehab and play thru. And career wise, how many OC, QB coaches and systems has he adapted to? 4 straight winning seasons, 3 playoff trips.
I get it, his play was not great at times and there's a shiny new toy out there which many would love to have. But this stuff about his personal effort, personal life etc, why are we going there? At the end of the day, if our QB, who's been here for 5 years has a work BS

I know stranger things can happen. But I just don't see the Lions and Texans being interested in trading their QB's to us. We just don't have as much to offer as other interested teams. And who would trade picks for Goff and that contract at this point?

The perception is he is damaged goods as far as his play. Not to mention their comments about their QB situation lately. They haven't exactly been propping him up as a good quarterback. If anything they reduced his trade value with those comments.

Color me skeptical that we can land one of those two guys. And Stafford doesn't raise the excitement level for me. He's not any more mobile that Goff. I suppose his experience would give him an edge. But is it enough to trade more first and second round picks?

What amazes me the most is some of the people backing McVay and Goff the most were also the most vocal against his play calling during the past couple of seasons. People that criticize him and Snead for the bad Gurley and Cooks deals in their book are ok with them moving on from Jared and his contract. People on both sides of this have their opinions and tunnel vision.

We call it silly season for a reason.

The TMZ level "report" with that credible reddit post are apparently enough to question his work ethic. McVay has never questioned that but it seems it's a real thing now and worthy of attacking our players character.

It's certainly hitting its mark in terms of silly season. I'm ready for a conclusion so that we can then convince ourselves that we did the right thing no matter what lol

Yeah like I said before in this one or one of the many other trade Goff threads I'm a huge Watson fan from his Clemson days. I'm just tired of the double standard judging Goff but ignoring those faults in others and throwing everything on his shoulders. Trading away the assets that are being talked about even if you believe it's an upgrade at QB will hurt our ability to sign free agents to help the team and draft players to help the team. That's why I'm firmly in the camp of improve the team. We've seen good from Goff when he didn't have a turnstile at Center and had a viable deep threat. Oh and McVay was calling a better offense in those years too so he needs to improve.
