Isiah Robertson ... View attachment 66070

This man could really play.

10th overall pick in 1971 ... Started almost immediately ... Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Six Pro Bowls in his eight seasons with the Rams. More impressive ... 4X 1st Team All Pro, and 2X 2nd Team

Back when OLBs were mostly used in pass defense, Robertson was tremendous in pass coverage. Sealed the Rams' first playoff win in more than two decades, with an interception of a Sonny Jurgensen pass returned for a touchdown in 1974.
One of those players who is often overlooked when people talk about greatest Rams, bizarrely.

It was the Rams who made the mistake of releasing Hacksaw.
I clearly remember after that, opposing teams running right up our gut after that and wishing we had him back.
People forget, Bill Freaking Walsh was almost our coach. Said it was the best organization in the NFL. And he really, really liked our roster so when he had a chance to get one and had a need, he did. I never blamed Hacksaw. Hey even Wendle Tyler went there.
It easily could have been us dominating the 80s but we had that Hag dumb C%#& running the show.
The old everyone is replaceable, so find someone cheaper philosophy.

More like..."Shaw, please figure out how I can pay for 25 more VIP dinner parties before the end of the year! Do whatever it takes... these parties should be prioritized above anything and everything.".

Quote is obviously from that woman.

How many forget the season Jim Collins had in 1985. We looked to have a stud.
Then he hurt a nerve in his neck in that seasons Pro Bowl game.
He was never the same.

Yeah, Mel Owen's was a heck of a player and always overlooked. Wilcher, Collins, Ekern, and Owen's were the anchors of that 80's defense until Greene came along in 85'/ 86'.
Don't forget George Andrews whom Wilcher replaced after #52 wrecked his knee.

Doug Smith ... 14-year NFL career ... all with the Rams ... starter for most of the final 12 seasons ... 6 Pro Bowls.

Not bad for an undrafted free agent.

Somebody please explain to me why this man is not in the Hall of Fame.
I’m talking about Smith, of course.
I don’t think Allen2McVay has been retired long enough.

I liked Doug Smith a lot but I don't think he was a Hall of Fame center.

In my case, it's all politics.

Rich Saul was better & he’s not in the HOF. Rams needed to win a Superbowl and back in the 70’s & 80’s they just couldn’t get it done.
