I agree, and you can see the talent he has but those turnovers will lose you games. I can see them lusting after Rattler.

Goff is sort of like Pedro Cerrano in the movie, Major League. He could hit the shyte out of the fastball, but couldn't hit a curve ball to save his life...Even after a KFC Chicken sacrifice.....
Correct me if I'm wrong but the interception by Stafford looked like it was tipped by a Colts player.
On Goff: he has little to no awareness of where the pressure is coming from unless it's in his face. Some QB's have almost a sixth sense when it comes to that. This accounts for Goff's fumble problems.
The body language of the wide open receiver after the play was like "Really, you didn't see me?" I'll say it again and again, I was there for the amazing Vikings game and the KC game and also for the 93 yard bomb against the Texans, and when Goff was great, it was electrifying. I also wish him the best and he's a great guy, but it was time to move on in 2021.

Well, my final word on Goff after watching last night is along the lines of what was said in the Monday night thread.
I was enjoying the heck out of Goff playing well in the 1st half of that game as I was one who was disappointed in the trade and was happy to see him do well.
That said, I'm over the moon with Stafford, and the Rams offense is just on another level with him at QB.
2nd half Goff? Was like a time warp to his rookie year. Looked like a replay of the Saints game from 2016. I do believe he has the tools to be successful, but not sure there's enough patience in the league for him to "get it"

Stafford's pick was 100% a tipped ball at the line.

Until the Lions fix that Defense and deepen the talent in the overall roster, practice squad, and coaching - - they're probably better served to just ride out Goff - - for as long as that takes.
He can certainly bridge them to some 'win more than they lose' seasons in the interim.
I'm not ready to write him off. He's a good Quarterback- -who probably could take a team like the Aints very far with sphincter face coaching him.

He also said that the trade to Detroit came out of the blue....so someone is not aware of his surroundings it seems because he can't ever see it coming. If you're being asked by the team to restructure and you say no...how can you be blindsided by the trade?

It was, I was more talking about the fact that Stafford isn't immune to tipped balls vs decision making. I'm sure someone could argue that Woods was open underneath and Kupp was blanketed by essentially four defenders by the time the ball was arriving, but I think that Stafford likely has the talent to get the ball into that spot. I also think that Goff has that ability as well, albeit not as consistent as Stafford.
In regards to the pressure, I don't expect him to be perfect though. That 3rd and 9 where he got hit and threw a ball incomplete vs having it knocked out of his hand is a throw I'm sure he wants back. He could have hit Higbee for the first down, and potentially even more. 6'6 255 lb Higbee vs a 5'11 213 lb safety, I like Higbee's odds to rumble for some extra yards there for a first and goal. Looks like he was keying in too much on Van Jefferson and didn't feel the pressure in time. I'm just happy that it resulted in a 4th down and not a fumble, so we could still get points.
I expect Stafford to make mistakes that we saw Jared make, miss open guys, miss throws, etc, but if he's more consistent and able to hold onto the ball/get it away just in time so it's an incomplete pass vs a turnover, I think it will go a long way for the team and offense, that's probably going to be the biggest difference, especially in comparison to years like 2017 and 2018 for Jared. Just my two cents.

If I'm not mistaken, even the announcers said he should have looked for other receivers on that play and that he locked onto his first read which he was accused of doing on pivotal downs with us.
It’s amazing how many people have him living rent free in their heads. As with all former Rams I wish them the best and don’t think about them during Rams games at all yet you won’t see a GDT all year where people bring him up. Hell today on Reddit there are a half dozen threads about him.

Aside from Goff being Goff I have to say I am impressed with what Campbell and that staff are doing with the offense. The protections were quite good, and the talent on that offensive line is going to improve. They have the makings of a balanced attack which can win you some games.
That defense is ugly though. So they're probably a 5-7 win team. But for the Lions fans out there they may finally have a coach who is gonna do right by them. It'll take another offseason and draft/FA period to reload some of the shitters on that side of the ball but I think they might be on their way.
For Goff if he can just get back to the basics of getting through his reads he'll be fine. That and anticipating protections. Stay longer in that film room Jared. Tell that fine piece of ass you'll be home later.
