I know he's a rookie, and that he and Stafford have yet to truly gel, but I believe Ferguson is the key to success in the playoffs. When schemed correctly he will be covered by either a LB or safety, and he's got more than enough speed to beat either one. In 13 personnel he could almost be used as another receiver as well as a TE. C'mon McVay - don't wait till next year to unleash him.

He's going to easily break every Rams TE record there is if he's with the team long enough.

Different than any player the team has ever had at the position and a guy who will be a big, big factor in coming years. He could also have an impact down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Typically TE’s take longer to progress. Due to the tasks they are asked to do. Big Ferg will be OK give him another 2+ seasons he will be fine.
Tyler Warren, Colston Loveland, Oronde on the Chargers - all have hit the ground running. Playoff teams will take Puka away to an extent, and they rarely throw deep. He needs to be utilized more NOW.

Our TE cadre is pretty good. Bad games shouldn’t define their character or potential. Bottomline you can only go up, if Big Ferg doesn’t seem like he is progressing he will be cut before his rookie contract ends. That is his timeline.

Ferguson is just fine and probably ahead of schedule.
by 2nd half of next season it will be tough to take him off the field.
Can’t wait to see how he is used

Warren went earlier due to the fact teams knew he'd translate quicker. Same with Loveland. There were only two plug-in TEs in this past draft who were mostly ready to go and/or expected to play and help out quickly. Ferg wasn't one of them.

But I do agree he should start translating here soon. I want to see a little more consistency from him. He's not gonna be a cornerstone option this early for us, but he has to start hauling in everything near him the way the top guys do. And if he can't do that then worst case he'll be an inline type similar to Higs, which isn't the worst thing.

If you block really well you can be very effective in the pass game simply because you'll be easy to overlook whenever you sell that block early. I hope he'll be more than that, but either way I look forward to watching him develop. Not all these guys can be stars.

Plenty of TEs have had almost immediate impact from the last few drafts. They’re out there. The packers snagged TWO in one draft, but one is now hurt (kraft?).

Off the top of my head:
Musgrave
Kincaid
Laporte
Fannin
Warren
Loveland
…and some guy who has been unstoppable despite playing on the raiders.

There just isn’t chemistry between Stafford and Ferguson yet. Repetition. Keep trying in practice so they can hook up in the games.

Overall, I’d say the TE group has played well at times, but lacked consistency. A top ten TE has yet to emerge.

Harold Fannin Jr is looking very good as well. Who was touting him on here……was it @OldSchool? I guess he has to get something right every now and then ;)
Every once in a while I get a right one, so far at least. But with the shitty WR's there Sanders is desperate with somebody who can catch and do something with the ball.

Ferg is still dropping too many passes.

I think he can tighten this up, but I’m not going to him in crunch time in the playoffs.

Allen needs to get his shit together as well.
