And here we are in pretty much the same boat as it pertains to the defense. Rams' choices...

:helmet: Improve the rush.

or

:helmet: Improve the secondary.

Secondary requires more pieces but I think is more likely to happen because you can get safeties in FA for cheap or well into drafts and this draft has some corners who can help us. Also I don't think Raheem did a very good job ensuring he's got the guys who can play the way he wants to call it. That should be approached this offseason for sure. Rams are going to reload this secondary and I pray they get it right, as in a unit who can play calls that make a QB hold onto the fucking ball.

There is no doubt they will either grab an edge off of FA or via the draft. Also they could move AD out to a 5T on the opposite side. I'm not overly concerned at this point. It's still too early for Snead to make his move. He needs to clear up the cap issues first.

Hoecht can play 3T and also flashed at 5T as well. Daniel Hardy has 4.6 speed and outstanding athleticism. Going into his second year it could be time for him to show if he can play at this level. He dropped in the draft because of how raw he was with most teams viewing him as a 3 year project. We will see this year where he stands.

I'm still hoping they can grab Ngakoue who would be an upgrade to Floyd and young enough for a full 4 year contract. Whether the Rams can pay him what he will want is the issue. So realistically I think the Rams will be looking to fill perhaps both edges in the draft.

I just hope he stops playing this CB’s 9-12 yards off so our rush has a chance and our DB’s has a chance.

I mean, if we had swung the trade for Brian Burns we'd be in a pretty decent situation now.

Shame they didn't want to sell.

Not saying Burns is bad but for 2 1’s and a 2? Hell no! Promise you I could draft a comparable Edge with that draft capital!

If we stopped fucking around during draft day.

Hell if Stafford gets hurt again this year (knocking on wood), next years pick is going to be a top 10 pick again. With some STUDS up top. I'd prefer a top 10 Edge on a rookie deal then having to load the brinks truck for Burns who, honestly, hasn't had elite production.

With no 2024 1'st round draft pick any longer, Carolina may be more amenable to trading Burns now. Their new QB, whoever it happens to be, will need a season or two to get up to speed, Burns might be wasted on that team for awhile. They also traded DJ Moore, doing the same with Burns will create a great deal of CAP space if they wish to engage in free agency. jmo.

Shit, if thats the case we might draft a top tier QB for the future mate! Lol

Shot you got me thinking though, if he gets hurt again for the season what do we do then?

When do we draft a QB?

I hope we pock up that Houston QB Tune i suggested as a project QB. Guy has alot of tools and a fast processor and we can pick him up in the 6th roundish

Hell no, i know at least 4 Edge rushers off the Top of my head that will be good in this league that will be available the first half of round 2!

Yeah I agree. And I'm of the mind that when he gets some corners he's confident in the calls will follow.

If not then he's gonna have to go.

And while you HOPE they develop on your schedule, I'll put my faith in a young proven Edge whom the Rams wished to invest in at the trade deadline. Trading for Burns should also leave us with our 2023 2'nd rounder to use on another needed player, like a Center or TE.

Yes, since or braintrust has done a bang up job using our 2nd rounders the last 4 years for the likes of Taylor Rapp, Cam Akers, and Tutu Atwell. Not world beaters but any means and their lack of drafting a meaningful position of TE or C with this front offices track history is hopeful at best.

Young proven edge? The “ young proven” part is what got us into this hell hole of salary cap and no draft picks and they have PROVEN they realize their wrongs and are trying to trade those previous from trades for young cheap talent.

Thank fucking God the Panthers didnt accept that moronic trade out of panic to save the 2022 season. It was lost from early on before the injuries started to mount starting with our moronic DC scheme and our lack of pass rush to make it work.

I really hope so.

I have some serious doubt built into his scheme pending the fact HOF players are needed to make it work.

I honestly have been thinking Hooker at #36 or after a short trade down might be a good thought for the future, but, we really need to be able to sign some vets at edge and IOL first in order to use that pick on a player that hopefully wouldn't contribute next season.

There are some issues with Hooker making the transition to the NFL especially to the Rams. Hooker played in a run frist offense. Tennessee ran almost 60% of the offensive plays. Hooker's mechanics gets sloppy at times, especially his feet. He holds the ball too long as he appears to struggle with his read progressions, another issue coming to the Rams. Hooker will have a steep learning curve in this offense. Although Hooker has a strong arm, his accuracy is best on short and intermediate routes, and he lacks touch on his deep passes if he has to throw over the defender.

I did watch film on Hooker and it's why I liked Tanner better. Tanner is a much better fit for McVay's offense. He's got better footwork, good accuracy at all levels, but most of all comes from a W Coast offense, meaning he understands how to read defenses and go through his progressions. This will make him an excellent fit for McVay's offense. He also has elite size at 6'6", 231 lbs. Watching him reminded me of watching a young Philip Rivers. Both Hooker and Tanner are expected to be on the board at the top of the second round.

If the Rams can't retain Mayfield they would be remiss if they passed on Tanner if he's on the board at 36. I would take him over an edge. They can grab an edge in the 3rd round. QB2 is a much higher priority IMO, especially if he's not far from being a starter.

I don't want to have an offense that shuts down the first time we see a strong run defense in the playoffs. So I prefer a QB who projects to being able to handle his shit from the pocket. Who can grasp the concepts McVay is going to be throwing at him and build to a point where he can master them.

Not to sound like a primadonna here or anything but the reference of an ideal offense is the old standard QB dealing from the pocket with a power run game. For me at least. Now having a GSoT type flavor is fine, with more speed, but I will note that those types of offenses can lead to more sweating in the big games. What I'd like is an offense that can blow teams the fuck out. That has a run game they know is coming but can't stop, plus a pass game that can carry us if that does get stopped.

I realize this is a fan pipe dream btw. But that's my standard. So hell no on Hooker, even though I'm a little intrigued by McVay interchanging run-first QBs in a college style plug 'n play attack. I think that model could be carried by a coach like McVay and lead to not needing to ever pay a QB. Or maybe that's another pipe dream, or at least a figment of my imagination.

100% i really like Hooker but dont see us drafting a QB that high with our issues unfortunately which is the reason I’ve been high on Tune.

I really feel this draft we need to get some real ballers on the O-Lime and RB and there will be plenty at our picks.
