Well all I originally stated was that Mac was "overrated," did not say either he sucks or we should replace him. Then folks countered with past history, which is fair, but what about CURRENT and very recent history? What about FUTURE history? Just dont think he's the Offensive guru he definitely WAS when he came on the scene in '17. Deficient in other areas that doesn't overcome NOT being an Offensive genius. Very Martz like. Actually wonder if Head Coach will be his long term job. I think he will bounce back and forth between Television and Coaching eventually.
Do you remember a few years back when offenses were running roughshod over defenses and everyone in the media (and also on this board) were talking about defense being dead? Since that time we have seen defenses revert back to two safety looks and pass prioritization and as a result things look real different. You don't hear those idiots talking about that now do you.

This is the NFL. It is constantly shifting and McVay has never been "the guy" cooking up all the new shit, but rather he is one of the best at stealing trends and keeping his team atop those trends and using them, while he also is the absolute best at culture and squeezing the most from his talent. This is proven by his incredible track record while being ruthlessly poached for his coaches.

Casual fans watch the Rams offense misfiring, and think "oh shit McVay has lost it." But that's just ignorance of what is really occurring here. If you didn't note before the season how short this roster was and realize it's gonna be a tough season, then you deserve to be surprised and angry about it. Because no coach is a genius when the parts are not good enough to execute the scheme. But don't be surprised when you post some BS and get called on it here. Because you have posters here that take the time to know this shit.

Have no problem getting called out on ANYTHING. I'm a big boy and can take it. Got no problem with people taking offense to me calling Mac "overrated." Especially with all he's done. As for the remark itself, the truth will reveal itself in time. Hope like hell I'm wrong here.

Stafford is done because even if the Rams remake the line to be great, and retool the defense to be great, and get a great running back, Stafford is one hit away from being on the bench and game over.

O line that can't pass block and a coach that refuses to run the ball, even when it is working well, equals disaster everytime!

You could say the same about many QBs in this league.

I agree, but he's just very susceptible to injury at this point. He can hardly take any hits. Brady was a very young 35, Stafford is a very old 35.

The last Rams QB to injure his thumb went on to win a playoff game and still was only considered to the Rams QB "for now"
Lets hope history doesnt repeat itself

Early on, this team was over achieving based on what I thought. Now they are crashing back down and unfortunately not playing good ball. I wouldn't say I'm surprised but just a bit disappointed we can't be more consistent. With that said, inconsistency is definitely a sign of a young, inexperienced team. We probably won't see a shit ton of these players on the field next year anyways lol

This team is, overall, better than I expected.. but their record is worse than what it should be.

They have been more than competitive.. and been in position to win games. The *self-inflicted* losses to Pittsburgh and Cincy are what really get me.

The Cowboys stinker? Shit like that happens... look what the 9ers did to the Cowboys.

The thing is you have to win the games that are close.. and McVay is NOT putting the team into winning positions in those games, imo. I'm not saying he's a bad coach.. I'm not saying I want a different coach.. I'm just pointing out that he's fucking stuff up, in-game, in tight games.

In about a month perceptions might change simply due to difficulty of schedule. We are 3-5 vs a top lineup of teams, and some of those losses were close. Quality of opponent matters.

Now if we end up without Stafford we're fucked. We have no depth at QB. And there are other positions like that too. This is not a good roster. But if you look at that sched after the bye the Rams will inevitably look a lot better assuming we're not playing those depth options.

It's a bit early to call Mcvay overrated. None of us are happy with the last game but you have to keep things in perspective. Mcvay (and Snead) took a pitiful offense and made it "1" in a single year. And it continued like that for 5 straight years, two super bowls, and a Lombardi! I understand the strategy of "run it back" too, but injuries killed the team last year. I didn't think they had a chance anyway, losing so many all stars off that super bowl roster, but the strategy this year was to reduce the cap and that's what we're seeing now.

With the roster purged, Mcvay has to work with what he has and it ain't much. The line is inconsistent, the backs have had issues, and Kupp missed a lot of time and it shows. Still... the Rams offense has played well at times. Aside from this game, the Rams could have easily been 4-3 or even 5-2 if they got lucky.

I get what you're saying, and many of us have complained about the play calling at times, but look at the roster this year and remember the strategy going forward. The bottom line is that it's way too early to call McVay overrated. JMO.

Gotta agree, it all hinges on Stafford being healthy because we have no one behind him. With that said, he's day to day with a thumb sprain. Bullet dodged
