These stats really don't mean much without context behind them. I argue look at the pass run ratio from the game when the interceptions have occurred.

You will find there is a huge correlation when pass/run is 70/30 or greater. In the Titans, 9ers and Vikings game, each defense rushed 3-4 and dropped the rest back into coverage taking away the intermediate and deep passes. These coaches count on McVay to be unable to resist the pass!

Hence, if you can't be patient enough to run the ball, teams will take away the pass. Especially those that can rush with 3-4.

This is Matt's first year in this offense and it's a pretty complex scheme with a lot of sight options for receivers, i.e. the QB and receivers have to read it the same way. IMO that might be part of the reason Stafford is holding the ball and getting sacked or forcing the pass unnecessarily.

The Rams can win a Lombardi with Stafford and their SB window is just beginning to open. When he's on his game he's as good as any QB so that is about all you can expect from any QB.

Of more concern is Morris and his defense. His penchant for backing off and playing soft with a lead simply allows the opponent to stay in the game. Why does he back off of what is working? When Morris plays aggressively with his DBs this defense can be very good. Then all of a sudden he will back off and go limp dick with his scheme. Someone, please give the dude some viagra!

Oh, goodness gracious.

The defense kept them in this game when Stafford was giving it away on turnovers.
Stafford's turnovers plus the ST turnover against GB lead directly to 19 points for the Packers.
Higbee let a pass bounce of his hands for a pick 6 against the 9ers and Stafford threw a giveaway int to start the game and was just awful the entire game.
Tennessee? Um.. defense shut them down.

Turnovers are the biggest threat to this team and the biggest concern. Don't turn the ball over repeatedly inside your own 20 and you'll have a good shot at winning.

Based on your last paragraph, I'd have to assume you didn't watch the Minny game.

At this point I'm honestly just annoyed this stuff even gets posted on our boards. The dude is statistically top 3 in almost every category, obviously he's not a running QB. It's to the point where I'm just gonna start ignoring these threads all together.

For real. I don't recall this many QB threads la...err...in prior years. :hiding:

yes, you're absolutely right. there were no qb threads the last couple of years. and no whining about the qb either. especially from those complaining about it in this thread.

this is an interesting discussion where every point brought up on this site gets a run. i think mark sanchez is a better talking head than he was a qb.

Yeah lol. Rams fans are dysfunctional as shit when it comes to QBs.
Most NFL fans are. Remember, the term "fan" is a diminutive for "fanatic," a subrational, emotionally charged homo sapien who tends to regress to homo ignoramus status when provoked.

I agree that the over analysis is neauseating, but what else should we expect from the media? Just protect the ball when we are behind the 20 yard line, Stafford, and we will be fine.

All I know is that I squeeze my cheeks on 3rd and 2 when he drops back for a pass and never looks in the direction of the open receiver in the flat, but throws a 20yd pass to a receiver rather he's open or double covered lol.

As a long time lions fan who has also followed Stafford after coming aboard the rams.. I feel like I have a decent sense of his game. He's always been a bit streaky, but I do think it's been extra hot and cold this year.

I think Stafford's turnovers and accuracy issues at times is a combination of not being as comfortable in the offense, along with the moving pieces around him. My concern is growing with Odell Beckham.. I think his route running has been all over the place, and Stafford is never sure where he is going to be. Most of his bad throws have been targeting him and Jefferson. Stafford has always forced the issue to get the ball down the field. That will continue. But sometimes I think he is waiting for guys to break.. and when they don't.. he hesitates and his clock starts to race. It's not necessarily all on the wrs.. but it seems like they aren't seeing the same thing. It's like the opposite of Kupp. Rarely has Stafford badly missed him.. because the anticipation and trust are there. I don't think the same thing can be said of Beckham and Jefferson. Robert woods was such a big loss.. and in this complicated offense with tons of options.. throwing in a revolving door of backs and wrs just doesn't make it easy.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Missing Woods has been a huge blow to Stafford. Woods was a reliable target, always where he should be and if you noticed he was often Stafford’s outlet receiver when the deeper plays weren’t there or Stafford had to hurry.

Beckham is not fully integrated in this offense. There is no way he’s learned it in a few weeks. Same for Skowronek. I’m disappointed that Van Jefferson still struggles with routes but he was forced to learn Woods position so I guess he gets a pass.

See above. Woods loss was huge.

Agreed. What are they supposed to do? They write for a living. It can’t be easy to come up with stuff to write about.

Jared Goff needed a little more Matt Stafford in his game. Matt Stafford needs a little more of Jared Goff in his game. Matt needs to take what defenses are giving. Goff needed to take more shots down field. But here is the thing, Goff threw interceptions even with that tendency. Stafford is throwing INT's too but he's throwing a lot more TD's. And the Rams are scoring more points.

Correct.
I think fans need to realize Stafford is a Brett farve type of QB. A gun slinger if you will. He's gonna have a ton of TDs but he's also gonna take chances so he's gonna have INTs.
36 TDs
13 INTS
And we still have two games to go. So he's on pace for 40+ TDs and 15 INTs. I'll take that every single year.
