Sometimes change isn't that good. Looks like we'll see, whether we like it or not.

Hell Yeah !!! Well just remember the first year Snead came in . He got rid of Brown & Jones. The rest is history. Jake was a rookie.

my whole thing is youth(new energy) & salary cap. Sometimes things can get old.
Fossell was Great !!!
My other point is he was the HC before Mcvay !!! Wade was put in place because Mcvay had now HC experience. That was part of the process.

If ever Mcvay wanted to put his own stamp on The Rams it is now moving into a New Stadium.

Did we ever get an answer to why the hell he called that fake against Arizona without telling the Head Coach? Maybe he wanted to get fired/not renewed? Seems like a stupid thing to do if you want your contract renewed

Honestly Mcvay took blame (as he always does) and said that it just needed to be dialed into better communication.

I think a lot of Bones' fakes depend on the looks/players the other teams line up. If he sees (or players) see a certain look based on gameplanning they are taught to take it. I may be wrong but so many of Bones fakes over the years have been dialed in to the absolute cross on the T. Like the Stedman Bailey punt return TD where Tavon bluffed catching it on the opposite side of the field.

I am disappointed to see Bones not be retained. I would be even more disappointed if it was because of one decision in the last 'mostly' meaningless game.

Initial response, it sucks. Is it the end of the world, probably less of an impact than a new DC.

It was a down year but more because of injuries than anything. As many front line starters as we lost on both sides of the ball and having a 9-7 record and battling to the end was impressive to me. There is still good talent here but undoubtedly there will be turn over.

I'll wait for the replacements and see how things look heading in to camp before freaking out.

I don't think that there is a more respected and acknowledged coach on special teams than Bones. You guys may differ, but Wade has to be one of the most respected DCs who was in the NFL. Disappointing season, I know. Man, don't let the wheels come off.

Tied for 5th most special teams penalties in league. Some was probably intentional delay of games. Still seems like ST was undisciplined.

And year before tied for 3rd.

I was under the impression that you do not want assistant coaches entering the final year of their contract if the head guy really wants to keep them.

Lame duckery and all.

I guess WP and Bones performed well enough in their roles to not get fired but McVay wants to move on.

Can't say that I can fault those decisions and I doubt McVay's done yet.

Actually, this action may be a great example of following this mantra. As opposed to keeping Bones on staff because he is well liked (benefiting McVay himself), he opts to let him go for the good of the team.

I like Bones but I am not broke up about losing him. For me Special Teams, especially the coverage units, reflects the level of talent the team has on the back end of the roster as many of the depth guys make up the special teams. Bones did not miss the the FG against Seattle or shank Hekker's bad punts. It was clear that Hekker and Zuerleins's season's were not up to their usual standards. Is that on bones, I don't know? Hekker is 29 and GZ is 32 so maybe there is an element of eroding physicality causing the drop-off although specialist usually do no show the ravages of time as quickly like other positions. Maybe it is just an element of complacency that inevitably hits when you have some success.

I'm just fooling around as usual. As others have noted, our favorite Leprechaun has been growing in leaps and bounds these past three seasons as an NFL head coach. His solid understanding of defensive strategizing and his offensive mastery will render him an increasingly fearsome adversary. Look for him to start assuming at least partial ownership of defensive scheming, Don't be surprised if he attempts to get his feet wet in special team operations either.

If he does all of that the team will suffer.

He needs to change approach on O before he does anything else.

Being HC, OC and working with the D and ST not a good plan.
