As long as Kraft's gay lover Godell is the Commissioner we can expect nothing more than a slap on the wrist or should I say penis.

It's actually "do your job", which means every cheats employee with a video camera must take video of every opposition sideline during games.

I'm just going to use this as an example of how people think the NFL, especially RG, have a goal of helping the Patriots. Because it's a foolish conversation.

Anyone paying ANY attention would realize that the NFL and RG went after Brady and the Patriots relentlessly..........about slightly deflated footballs. They clearly had an ax to grind. This is maybe a bit more egregious than not having your jersey tucked, or the correct socks. And by the way PManning has done the same thing. In fact he and Brady are the ones that originally went to the league to be allowed to select the footballs they wanted prior to each game.

Deflategate was ramped up into a "scandal" and it was obvious the league was intent on hammering the Patriots and not just Brady. This went on month after month after month. Deflategate was heard in federal courtrooms. First the courts struck down the suspension (four games), then another court upheld the original ruling, then Brady tried to get it knocked down again and was denied a hearing.

At halftime of the game the balls the Patriots were using were re-inflated to the correct pressure and the Patriots scored 28 points..........versus 17 in the first half with the under inflated balls.

In the end the Patriots were fined one million bucks and lost a first round pick and a fourth round pick and Brady was suspended for four games for slightly under inflated footballs used for one half of a football game, a total of 5 possessions.

He could have walked onto the field at halftime with a bong in his hand and hit his wife over the head with it and gotten less punishment.

Think about that. Is that an over the top out of whack price to pay? Would a guy wanting to help the Patriots lay that type of penalty on a team for such a minor infraction?

Goodell and Kraft aren't buddies and have not been since the Spygate scandal. Goodell, as we all know, doesn't like anything that may taint the reputation of the cash cow that is the NFL. That's why the tapes were destroyed, he wasn't going to allow evidence to get out to the public.

The entire narrative that the NFL wants to help the Patriots is such ridiculous bullshit. I'm pretty certain that Goodell would love to slap Kraft across the face for the whole Spygate thing.

OK so did Brady break the rules? Yes he did. Did he destroy evidence on his phone? Yes he did. Did Goodell try to help the Patriots and Brady?: Hell no in fact the opposite.

I've been around long enough to know that any "dynasty" in any sport gets fans of every other team all worked up. I'm a Lakers fan and used to hear it about them. I remember everyone hating the Bulls. And the 49ers. And the list goes on and will forever.

Been staying away from posting in this thread. Subject just pisses me off so bad fucking cheaters keep getting away with it time after time. Lepoard never changes its spots.

That RG destroyed the tapes that would have proved the Pats recorded Rams in practice is enough proof for me that they, in fact cheated and RG didn;t have the balls to punnish them.

What did they "get away with"? Every time they get caught they get whacked.

Seriously..........you think that the NFL/Goodell didn't punish them for Spygate? Really?????

WTF..........this is why these conversations are irrational.

Didn't get punished enough imo.

If Brady came out and stated that there was a miscommunication between him and the ball boys, I would have said okay - slap on the wrist.

But the fact that Brady destroyed his phone thereby tampering evidence, that deserved a season ban all by itself.

If the spygate tapes would have been revealed to the public instead of destroying them and it came out they spied, then I say that Belicheat should be suspended from the league for one season and the super bowl taken away.

Okay I may be harsh but that is how I feel.

Destroying the tapes just proves to me that they were hiding something. You can say otherwise but nothing you say will make me believe otherwise so it is best that we agree to disagree.

c'mon Les. they destroyed the tape. NFL went out of their way to keep it quiet and minimize. Pats punishment was a slap on the wrist. They won a SB and got to celebrate. They cheated to do it.

I understand why RG swept it under the rug, too big a black eye for the NFL.

Deflategate was overly harsh IMO. But what can ya do about it at this point right.

Spygate tapes, in hindsight, were never going to see the light of day. Actual evidence would have damaged the NFL too badly. Destroying them was proof they were breaking the rules, but the extent of the rule breaking had to be really awful for the league to immediately destroy the tapes.

If you remember Matt Walsh sent tapes to the NFL. So he probably has copies. He came to an agreement to turn over everything he had to the Patriots, and who knows how much $$$ he got. Plenty I'm sure.

If I were him I would have kept copies of everything in a safety deposit box just in case. If he did I hope they come to the surface someday.

This is a GREAT read.

Destroying the tape wasn't done to help the Patriots.

That was done PURELY to protect the NFL.

I just posted a link, you'd like the story.

Some people feel that the punishment for Deflategate was over the top because the punishment for Spygate was limited and in part limited by NFL rules.

@Tano IMO had the tapes come out Belichick would have needed federal protection LOL. Bookies all over would want him whacked!

i could care less about deflate gate.

When you have a storehouse of
thousands and thousands of illegal tapes. You should never coach in the NFL again. These affected the outcomes of regular season games and the outcome of Super Bowls.

A million Dollars and a draft pick is like taking a slap on the wrist for multi millionaires like Bellycheat and in Krafts case a billionaire.

Yes, it was to cover for the NFL or save the business.

It still was wrong.

and because the sentence was so light the patriots have persisted with cheating more decade after decade.

Well, alrighty then.

I don't disagree that the fine was too light.

But the "thousands and thousands of illegal tapes" and "decade after decade" may be a little over the top LOL.

If you want to take a few minutes to read the article I linked. It's a great read and gives a lot of clarity to the way all this shit went down.

In retrospect I wonder why Belichick didn't get "asked" to "resign".

The Bellichik-led Patriots are repeat offenders and deserve no benefit of the doubt. They are the equivalent of a convicted child molester hanging around a playground. Even if they weren't actually spying, their past behavior dictates that they pay a heavy price. Especially since they got off the first time with a light penalty (at minimum bellichik should have sat out a year like Payton).

So where's the SB36 Lombardi? As long as it is in Boston nothing was done by the NFL/Goodell to punish them. But then again who punishes a co-conspirator?

Maybe. But IMO cheating like the Patriots did would be considered worse by most of us.

I remember when Bountygate broke, there were people who didn't care that players were being targeted. I don't think you can find anyone that is OK with what the Patriots did.

I’ve gone back and forth on the whole Pats cheating in the first SB matchup, but this last SB sealed it for me when Issac Bruce said that he believes they did. Him, Faulk, Warner, and I believe Holt have all said similar things, and Bruce just doesn’t seem like he would lie about that or use it as an excuse.

They were there, if they believe it, I believe them.

the fact is the nfl only confiscated videos the cheats themselves gave up to them. they didn't do a sweep of their offices searching for evidence. the cheats had a gazillion videos of teams. to think they haven't been using them for the last 20 years is fanciful.

even if the signals have changed the mannerisms/body language haven't. these guys know everything the opposition are doing by watching the sidelines. bellyfat was adamant he had to know exactly where mcvay was during every second of the superbowl. what possible information could they have garnered from tv feeds or all 22s on his mannerisms? nothing. they had to have taped his every move so they could work out what was happening by how he was reacting on the sideline. they were the tells the cheats had on the rams.
