This is beyond unacceptable.

The fact that the broadcast crew didn't even replay this is extremely telling. They purposefully did not replay this to the world... because if they did, the clear fucking sound of the whistle blowing would have been validated with zero doubt. Erasing those 2 points from Seadderall. Instead, I heard Al Michaels spewing out the blatant lie that "no whistle had been blown. I know that I heard a whistle blow... and so did our players... that is the reason our players made no attempt?

The league needs be forced to address this bs.

McVay seems to get out coached by those two guys..... Or McVay out thinks himself..... McVay is starting scare me a little, I really thought he had turned a corner this season but he's back to handcuffing himself.
Its hard for me to disagree with you. I just dont understand the strategy in these situations, it seems to me that coach thought the game was wrapped up… and im not sure if the defense was in prevent or what?? But it sure seemed like they went soft once they had the big lead. All the losses this year have been brutal.ugh.

We all know the NFL doesn't do anything when it needs to. Only when it has to (because of pending litigation).

To the NFL it's just one game and one bad call in a season full of bad calls. If I felt that truly cost the Rams last night then I would be pissed, but we had plenty of chances to win this game.

I brought this up earlier, no one commented so bringing it up again.

Should McVay have gone for 2 in OT? Because had he done so, and they converted, he comes out of the game with the division lead regardless of what Seattle does in OT.

And if you playout in your mind that Seattle does go down and tie the game in OT, you pretty much can expect their chances of converting the 2 pt play, against what would be a tired D, as being pretty good.

It might not be obvious, but he probably should have put the game in the hands of his offense to end it, and 8 points ends it even if Seattle ties the game.
11-3-1 keeps you in first place.

Hard to second guess it for me. We were having some issues inside the 10, so if we don't convert 2 then all they have to do is TD, PAT and game over

All great points:

But the thing I don't get knowing we have a very questionable ST group, we just sit on the ball on offense for the final 9 minutes???? And all the offense could do is allow four punts and a missed field goal by or questionable ST's????

Is it too much to ask and try and score every time we get the ball.... It looked like our offense had no intention of trying to score in the 4th quarter. ..... I dunno
up 16 with 8 min left in the game pretty much every coach is going to run the ball- because it what makes the most sense.

The offense was poor in the 4th.

But blaming the offense in a game where they scored 37 pts and had 500 plus yards?

Special teams and defense were more the culprit.

I can't really see going for 2 there making much sense.

Going for 2 earlier to go up by 17 on the other hand makes some sense.

McVay has been coaching like this his whole career, but he had gotten a lot better this season about finishing games.

McVay has never been the kind of coach to run up the score on teams..... why??? I don't know....To me McVay just doesn't have a killer instinct mentality. I think his brain is over processing probabilities and percentages of potential outcomes and sometimes forgets about what's happening on the field.

Or Stafford got tired and could no longer play at the level he did in the first three quarters....????

Ahhhhhhhhhh... those 2 points that were wrongly awarded to Seadderalll... 1000% caused our beloved Rams to lose the game.

True but if McVay had gone for 2 and we didn't get it, then the hawks score and kick an extra point everyone would be saying he just should have kicked the extra point because a tie keeps us in first place. Scoring and being up by 7 puts all the pressure on the hawks knowing they have to score a TD then convert a 2. And they did. If you're going to win a SB the Defense needs to step up in that situation. They didn't

One thing I forgot was the hawks converted that crazy 2 point play to tie it with 6 mins left. I forgot there was that much time left in the game. If they didn't convert and the Offense continues to sputter in the 4th, then it's likely the hawks win with a walk off FG. That play didn't send the game to overtime, it's how we didn't respond in that moment that sent it to overtime. Offense should have taken control and won the game in regulation after that play. We didn't.

Yes, it would be next level thinking, and not obvious at the time. And it would open you up to a lot of 2nd guessing, but I had zero expectation that they were going to stop that conversion.

Am naturally enraged about the loss last night.

But also feel this team can go to the Super Bowl from ANY seeding position. Any game, any team, any weather. Does anyone think we're afraid to go into Seattle or San Francisco in a Road Playoff game??? We'll beat either one.

How's this for a scenario, beat San Francisco at Levi's in Championship Game then win Super Bowl 2 weeks later in same Stadium.

Having said all that i still feel we can get 1 seed. Big games are Seattle losing to Carolina and San Francisco with a loss before those two meet Week 18.

Agree. It's unfortunate to lose a game like this but we are in the playoffs. We've punched our ticket and there's plenty of football left to be played. If the hawks can win that game in improbable fashion there's no reason we can't still win the division. In a couple weeks we'll see what the seeding is then it's one. and done playoff football. We get to see what happens before we play our Monday night game against the Falcons.

But they sure as fuck took the time to review it themselves, completely stopping play when we were ready to receive the kickoff. It was such a bullshit sequence regardless of what the rules say. The refs needed New York to call down and tell them to review because they suck at their job on the field.

the entire 4th quarter felt like it took an hour, wtf

Unsure if the advancing rule you have cited is correct. Inadvertent whistle should have at worst been a replay of down.
Interpreting the NFL rule book further, ball was not immediately recovered. We had a shot at it too, but the whistle blew and we stopped play.

As I mentioned, rule book would infer a retry.

Though I wonder, if ball is blown dead and ruled incomplete, can a replay overturn the call according to NFL rules.

Brutal.
Devastating loss.
The Rams greatly reduced their Super Bowl odds and put themselves at the base of a hill to climb.
The week off, assuming the Rams would have won out, with a bye would be huge for player healing up and Stafford resting etc.
The Rams are rarely out of a game because of their offense.
Because of their defense and approach on defense, the Rams opponents are never out of a game either.
The special teams were - 10 points tonight. Also had a false start on a kick that the Rams were damn lucky went through so they got another shot. The special teams play is not acceptable.
Terrible.
The Rams had their normal string of three and outs that happen, seemingly, the second half of most games. Seattle is a tough place to play an a top defense, so, no surprise there.
Losing Dotson is a huge loss.
I don't think the play calling was soft.....the Rams kept passing. However, the TEs who have been excellent, had 5 or 6 drops and the OL started getting pushed around for most of the second half.
As soon as Mevis missed his FG (shocking) I think we all knew what was coming.
You cant treat every team like they are the Cardinals. Good teams and good coaches will make you pay.
This was a huge opportunity....massive to take a big step toward the Super Bowl and the Rams, at the end of the day, shit the bed.
There are no complete teams in the NFL this year.
The Rams aren't far away but their special teams are the worst in the NFL.....maybe the worst in the recent NFL history.
If the pass rush isn't working the defense is blah.
Good against the run the back end of the defensive will be exposed and taken advantage of by a pocket passer.
Its why (and familiarity) the Atlanta game will not be easy.
The Panthers loss and this come back really show how vulnerable the Rams are.
Blowing a 16 point lead with 8 minutes left is not excusable. Not for a team with Super Bowl ambitions.
Seattle outscored the Rams 24-7 from 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter on.
Mindboggling.
I know Young has been dealing with an injury but he and Verse were mostly invisible rushing the passer last night.....with a back up LT.
There is a very real chance SF ends up with the 1 seed.
I don't want to see the Whiners, Seahawks, Packers or Eagles in the playoffs.
The Rams can beat all of those teams....but, they can lose to all of the them as well. The Rams D doesn't scare anyone anymore, thats for sure.
Against offenses that are balanced with pocket passers they will give up plenty....65 points (not counting the punt return) in the last two weeks against offenses like that......not good.
This was a choke of chokes. A complete choke job. So, once again, now with an injured wr and two backups on the OL, we will see what the Rams are made of.
Also, Puka is not bright.
