Reeder not to bad in my opinion.

I'm not a fan.

I get it, but not every linebacker has to be a three down, sideline to sideline guy.

Reeder has 30 tackles the past 3 weeks, and the run defense has been really, really stout. You don't get 30 tackles in 3 weeks by accident.

Yes, Reeder lacks mobility and range, but you don't see him getting drug down the field by RB's, and he's almost always in position. These are the kinds of guys all teams need to have.

I'm not a fan, either, but I do appreciate his motor and toughness.

We don't know how Kenny Young is coming along, but Reeder played better yesterday.

I can live with Reeder. I'd like it better if Kenny Young became our version Danny Trevathan, but if not, we're good.

I agree with Mac and Jerry. I'm not a huge fan of Reeder. Would have preferred to keep Allen at linebacker when we had the chance; he's a better coverage linebacker than Reeder, and - in my honest opinion - just as good against the run.

Now I'm hoping that Young takes the job because I don't trust Reeder in coverage at all.

Was interesting reading everyone's thoughts on Reeder. Thanks for that. I'm just saying that to me, he's getting better each week, and seems capable of making some big big plays believe it or not. Is he going to the LB hall of fame? Probably not no. Partly because there's no such thing ha ha.

I'm just saying keep watching. You're going to start liking Reeder more than you currently do.

He's played well.. he's earned the spot...and he's done well with the opportunity. Not the fastest guy....not the most athletic...but he's tough, and he fills the gaps on the run pretty well..... Once Kenny Young gets up to speed on the play book, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some run there..because he can cover more ground...but Reeder is a solid young player for us … I honestly prefer him there, with Hager staying on special teams

Oh, off topic but maybe when Greg the Leg becomes trustworthy again his new nickname should be SureLoin? ( Zurloin is what the poor old guy announcer kept calling him)

"Send in Sure-Loin. He's got this one."

I think Kenny Young MIGHT be the better guy eventually, but Reeder has improved each outing and at the very least, he's supplanted Bryce Hager, so that's good.

With all this AAA talent we're paying, we gotta be young and cheap somewhere...

After rewatching the game carefully I would say Reeder brings value on short yardage plays and If we are facing a heavy run team without a mobile QB like say the Niners or Steelers coming up.

Need to carefully use him though because he cant cover at all or spy a mobile QB. It's like Auto first down for the opposing offense. Do NOT play him vs Seattle or the Ravens at all for example.

But Reeder types do come in handy when a team Is running down your throats and daring you to stop it. He has some really solid tackles in the Atlanta game worth considering him in a run stop role.

Keep in mind he was only out there for 19 plays or 35% of our defensive snaps. He was better than last week though.

Yeah I've liked him since the preseason when I noticed him running 40 yards downfield to jump on the pile late in a meaningless game. Just hard for me not to root for a dude who plays so hard whistle to whistle. And he's physical. I know it's all about the pass nowadays, and in space he is a liability, but I like having some physical types on this defense for facing power run teams.

Also he does have some surprising wheels for a dude that big. That pass to the TE vs the whiners I think it was... He was stride for stride with Kittle. Granted it was a catch but yeah, he has more speed than people seem to think he just can't track shifty types in the open field.

Very good & big point OldSchool.

The fact is Wade has evolved his defense to where he only needs a true MLB'er type (like Reeder) on a part-time basis. Reader is what Wade wants on certain defensive packages. This season Wade moved last years MLB'er who is a serious full time player into a new position....previous Mark Barron post.

Wade also utilizes the full time ILB'er Cory Littleton in the rangy type MLB'er post when he inserts a safety (Taylor Rapp) into the line up. This season rookie Rapp is far closer to being a starter than Reeder. Its Cory Littleton abilities that makes this Wade defense effectively work.

IMO the MLB'er position in Wade's 2019 defense is never going to be more than a 35 to 40 % snap post this season.

And this will depend a little bit on who we play too. i think Reeder has a role here for a very very long time. He's just a rookie too and he already fits in well.

Reeder has his best game of the season last Sunday. When he was on the field & the Falcons were running the ball...Reeder was highly effective.

Not sure if Bryce Hager will see many snaps as long as Ram Reeder continues to greatly help shut down the opponents run game. I am not really sure that Micah Kiser would do a better job against the run either.

All three MLB'ers are limited in the passing game that's why they are MLB'ers. There are very few Cory Littleton types lingering around undrafted or on the Rams bench. Wade seems to prefer utilizing SS Taylor Rapp in replacing his base assigned MLB'er in passing situations & 2nd downs too.

I do not see a change here baring injury where most of the snaps will go to Taylor Rapp & the rest to Ram Reeder. The only thing that would affect this situation is the play of safety Marqui Christian who has replaced JJ III in our DB.

Mentioning Christian........I need to say a few things on him......I have been highly critical of his past play & rightfully so, however his performance against the Falcons was his best of his career I did not miss JJ III.(y)

Is that because of have two new outside corners now starting?:bueller:

Reeder kinda reminds me of James Lauranitus, makes a lot of tackles 7-10 beyond the LOS. Looks good on the stat sheet, but not good for field position during a game.

I was concerned about the secondary in general, and they played a lot better, and I was wondering the same though, has he earned that role over Hager and Kiser?

Who knows, maybe I'm being simple, but it looks like teams are going to continue trying to exploit Reeder with quick passes near the goal line.

Reeder like Kiser & Hager will always have issues in coverage. Answer is Taylor Rapp!

That doesn't equate to the results. Reeder has 30+ tackles the past 4 weeks, with opponents averaging under 3.0 YPC during that period.
